QUOTE (ptatc @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 02:11 PM) This was going to be an odd one regardless of the White Sox odd treatment of injuries this year. Ulnar neuritis typically comes from the nerve stretching over the joint because the joint is loose. The joint shouldn't be loose due to the previous TJS. Also with the TJS, they typically due an unlar nerve transposition, where they take the nerve and move it from below the elbow to above the elbow. This will stop any chance of an irritation occurring due to scar tissue or stress in the area. Since the anatomy has been altered by surgery, it is difficult to know what is going on. Eek - that sounds no bueno. Thanks man.
  2. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) yep, better hope like hell some team(s) ahead of the Sox cuts an underslot deal or two so that somebody falls to the Sox. Man, I hope this doesn't turn out like Benintendi where we missed by just one draft slot. That's what I'm worried about for Haseley - not Kendall. Trout didn't have a history in college or high school of high strike out rates to harp on and missing out on Beni just plain sucked.
  3. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:53 PM) Don't take it to the bank but I think the Sox want one of the UVA guys/Beck and Bukasukas is in play as well. I really hope Bukasukas is gone by 11 but doubt it. Think that Beck and Haseley are pipe dreams at 11 and Smith may also be a tall order that would be great where we're at. If it's down to Bukasukas and someone like White - I hope they go positional.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:52 PM) It is still not the case, however. 30 general managers and 30 owners will collectively determine that. We'll see and I sure as s*** hope he's not drafted... it would be a vindicating conclusion.
  5. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:37 PM) H8is, I'm terribly sorry that this has impacted you so closely, and I can understand why it triggers such a response from you. The good news is, there doesn't appear to be any evidence that female victims of molestation are more prone to molesting others (engaging in a cycle of molestation). I chose to get married to someone who I knew had deep issues stemming from trauma and also chose to have a child with her. I'm not concerned that she's going to continue her cycle of abuse but the circumstances of my life are mainly a result of my own naive decisions.... mainly that giving love to another person can help them heal. Without someone taking ownership of their own process of confrontation, there's no hope. My hope with Himlech is that it stirs the public debate about this overlooked and under represented topic. Doubt that happens thou... under the carpet it will go, again.
  6. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:46 PM) Sox haven't been all that present on Hiura's games. Not sure it means much, but they weren't a team with a clear presence around him like say the A's or the Red Sox. Do you have any insights into where they Sox were present, outside of the commonly reported names? I've seen reports of them actively on Haseley, Smith, Kendall, Adell, and Beck.
  7. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:43 PM) If I read it correctly, either Piliere or Law said he's a better hitter than Senzel, Swanson and Bregman out of college Yea, I haven't seen that direct quote but I've read in multiple places that he's the best college bat of the class... not sure that I agree but at #11 it's a solid pick up, injury concerns be damned. We need him in 2019 or 2020 - not 2018.
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:27 PM) In Piliere final mock top ten, he has a worst case scenario with the following being drafted: - Haseley - Beck - McKay - Greene - Adell - Wright - Bukauskas - Gore - Smith - Lewis If that happens take Hiura, White, or Burger... my preference would be in that order. Getting Hiura as a worst case is a pretty good thing IMO.
  9. QUOTE (bmags @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:30 PM) The Pac-12 network isn't the mainstream media. It's a media outlet owned by the conference. "My position is that media outlets shouldn't be directing their correspondents about how they respond. People should be able to excersize their freedom of speech." Maybe that's more clearly said then.
  10. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:23 PM) What is to be gained by ( your ) judgment, anyways? Respect and honor.
  11. I've seen first hand the results of child abuse. Being killed may be an easier sentence than living through the effects of such an atrocious violation of dignity. My exwife was kidnapped and molested for years as a child. There... I said it. That's just one reason I'm biased heavily on this topic. If she somehow continued that cycle over to my son, I wouldn't have a single ounce of sympathy or leniency. f*** people like Himlech, f*** the piss poor statutes of limitations in many cases for these offenses, f*** a society that just wants to push issues like this into the dark, f*** plea bargains for offenders, and f*** this kids potential as a baseball player.
  12. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 01:09 PM) Sale absolutely fell to us. He was considered a top 5-10 pick at the time. Huh - I must not have remembered it correctly then... I thought at the time when we picked him at 13 it was a surprise that many in the industry didn't like.
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:55 PM) He's such a snarky bastard. +1
  14. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:58 PM) I think the sox get Haseley. We've been pretty successful recently with guys who kinda fell to us (Rodon, Fulmer to an extent and of course Chris f***ing Sale). Sure hope you're right... I wouldn't necessarily consider Fulmer and Sale as picks who fell to us like Rodon thou.
  15. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 11:14 AM) That's not accurate according to the story that made this national news... The national coverage has been dumbed down to just reflect his final charges. The reality was much worse. It's obviously impossible for me to not engage in discussion about this s*** - the only thing to gain is having the truth be known. As meaningless as it may be, the victim deserves it.
  16. QUOTE (StrykerSox @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 11:04 AM) Where did you hear this? I found articles clearly describing the event on a 6 year old as a 15 year old, but have found nothing describing it as an ongoing thing. I could possibly dig up some mercy if it was a one-time thing at 15, but the situation you describe puts it in a whole other ballpark. Last thing I'll say about it in this thread: This source cites court documents that describe the originally charged offense before it was pled down. https://www.seccountry.com/vanderbilt/orego...l-vs-vanderbilt He does not deserve to play professional baseball.
  17. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:32 PM) I said that a projected top 50 pick would be a value on day 2 or day 3. I didn't say anything controversial. Sorry if my post insinuated something else because I didn't mean to. Again, please keep Heimlich talk in Heimlech thread. Here it is: http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=102854
  18. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:29 PM) ...? The Pac12 is the one calling for it My position is that media outlets should be able to excersize their rights to freedom of speech and shouldn't be directed in how they respond. Any situation where national attention gets turned to this subject should be fair game to bring the need for tighter regulation and limitation statutes reform for prosecution against these types of crimes. I get that the media really isn't free anymore but believe it should be. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:32 PM) ...Heimlich talk... Poop on Heimlich.
  19. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:07 PM) Actually I can. I am not sure we even disagree not that it matters. Keep the discussion on Heimlich in the thread designated to talk about Heimlich. Pretty simple. Yea man - you can do whatever you want... but for the first time in the 4 years you've been here I can say that your statements have been disrespectful and contradictory. You opened the door wide open for discussion by making a controversial statement which had merit... then shut the door. Respectfully said... Poorly done.
  20. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:18 PM) Frankie Piliere @FPiliereD1 · 4m #WhiteSox had Kenny Williams in to evaluate both #UVA bats. I think they'd take either Haseley or Smith if they were there at 11. I'm getting more and more excite
  21. QUOTE (ecupittfan @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:15 PM) Hearing it is possible that McKenzie Gore could also go #1 overall. It'd be a good pick. This draft should really show how important it is for us to be drafting top 3 in 2018 / 2019 compared to the double digits. Look at what concecutive high first round hits did for Huston and the Nationals.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:06 PM) 670 The Score‏Verified account @670TheScore 1h1 hour ago White Sox's focus in draft is on best available player http://cbsloc.al/2sbUkc6 via @MLBBruceLevine I like this Hostetler quote: Gives me some confidence that I'll be happy with whoever they end up with.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 12:08 PM) Baseball America‏Verified account @BaseballAmerica 7m7 minutes ago Scouts and analysts agree: Keston Hiura is the top college bat. Absolutely would love him, Haseley, or Beck. Would be happy with White as well. Just no Kendall or Adell, please.
  24. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 11:52 AM) His first hit/HR: https://www.instagram.com/p/BVP_yX2Bbhm/ First hit and homerun on the same swing. Nice.
  25. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 12, 2017 -> 11:23 AM) http://deadspin.com/internal-memo-instruct...n-ho-1796022176 Oregon State sending out instructions on how to discuss this Not a good look Just another example as to why I strongly dislike mainstream media.
