  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 10, 2017 -> 09:30 AM) Baseball AmericaVerified account ‏@BaseballAmerica The @astros are reluctant to part with Francis Martes, knowing the righty could debut in 2017, @jakemkaplan writes. http://bba.am/Cmgzxy Houston can go f*** off Peter Gammons reported last week they offered him in the Archer proposal - I trust that more than this. Chalk it up to posturing.
  2. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 9, 2017 -> 09:03 PM) Or you can go with the Sale/Eaton/Duke conspiracy theories. I should have reserved my final monthly usage of "poop" for this quote - but alas, the quota is now used up.
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 8, 2017 -> 10:48 PM) p.s. Why not trade a prospect or two for Alex Gordon and sign Cespedes? Wouldn't we be favored in the Central? Because testicle... Of course.
  4. At first I find it hard to believe the Pirates would trade Keller and Glasnow but thinking of it again - I could see it. As someone else mentioned they get to keep both Bell and Meadows while adding a ace / high end two in Q for 4 years at bargain basement pricing. Please be the week. Please.
  5. Take your pick: Glasnow, Keller, Newman, Hayes, and Diaz Or Tucker, Martes, Paulino, Davis, and Stubbs
  6. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jan 8, 2017 -> 09:30 PM) I forget where I read it to be honest but it wasn't sports mockery. One rumor was Houston offered Martes, Tucker, Paulino and another said they offered the Astros top three prospects ++. Just rumors but somewhere in there is a little truth. Peter Gammons: https://www.google.com/amp/www.draysbay.com...-houston-astros
  7. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 10:09 PM) If they've held out this long I have to believe they are going to get a fleecing the likes of the Eaton deal eventually. Equivalent would be ( roughly speaking in loose ass relative terms that are actually meaningless ) a teams #1, #3, and 2016 first rounder... Astros: Martes Paulino Whitley ( would have to think one of those three would be subbed out for Tucker ). Yankees: Frazier Mateo Rutherford ( my obvious choice. ) Pirates: Glasnow Bell Craig ( again, would have to think they sub out one of those top two for Meadows. ) Ya. So there. Let it be so. And f*** this speculation.
  8. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 08:09 PM) Sox signed Evereth Cabrera to minor league deal. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/01/whit...eague-deal.html Bring in all the suck.
  9. QUOTE (Al Lopez's Ghost @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) With 2017 being a tank year, Shields could be our MVP. I would love for him to be a horrifically awful pitcher for the whole season on a historic scale. It would give me something to smile and laugh about every 5 days.
  10. QUOTE (Mattchoo @ Jan 7, 2017 -> 07:37 AM) if Houston had any need for Frazier or Robertson, I'd include them with Q to get both Tucker and Bregman as the headliners. You're a funny funny man... man.
  11. I don't know about you all but I sure am glad we have James Shields.
  12. Hahn has shown in his short GM caeer that he's willing to hold onto assets and isn't trigger happy like Kdub.
  13. QUOTE (Baron @ Jan 6, 2017 -> 05:40 PM) Who the hell is Sean Sears? Some writer for some website appropriately titled Sports Mockery.
  14. Morosi saying the same thing with different words sequenced together.
  15. Hey... something happened!
  16. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 10:08 PM) If only they made a Hawk Harrelson brand popsicle. It would be a nice summer treat for his detractors to suck on. At least they could enjoy his sweet flavors a different way. For the win.
  17. QUOTE (flavum @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 07:29 PM) Tomorrow is Wednesday. Enough with rumors. +1
  18. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 05:02 PM) https://twitter.com/ChuckGarfien Listening to Sox Podcast with Chuck Garfein, Ryan Mcguffey, and Chris Kamka. Chuck said he KNOWS that the Astros, Pirates, and Braves have made offers for Q. Berry interesting
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 3, 2017 -> 08:14 AM) After the Sox trade Q and Robertson and Frazier or Melky, it's going to be really hard to be a White Sox fan. The team will absolutely suck, and next offseason there will be very little action. They will not have much to trade. They won't be signing big names. I'm looking forward to discovering an even lower level of suckatude
  20. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 06:00 PM) So what is everyone's preferred REALISTIC trade offer? I'm going to go with Yankees and Frazier, Kaprielian, Andujuar, + lotto ticket A baller... We don't know what's realistic... case in point: the sale thread before the deal went down. Case in point: the Eaton thread before the deal went down.
  21. QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 2, 2017 -> 08:34 AM) I appreciate the kind words about the podcast towards Rob and I. We plan to record every other week during the season and we'll record as needed during the offseason. If I could speak for Rob, the kind words and support from here and other places are humbling and motivate us to put together a better product. However, I was "producing" this one and I am nothing near an audio engineer but I will figure out how to improve the audio quality moving forward as I was not totally happy with what we got in the first one. As for hi8us's comment about Merkin, I am going to assume he was being facetious, hah. If not, I do know Scott and he is 50 and entirely content with his job. I have no requisite experience to do that job and I couldn't ever do what Merk does. A lot of people think I am trying to get a job with the Sox but that's simply not the case. Anyone who works with or around the Sox understands they don't hire Sox fans for media positions and I am not even qualified to work in media anyways. Take a look at all the people they have hired for positions to speak with fans: Rongey (Cards fan growing up), Merkin (Cubs fan growing up), Hayes (A's/Giants fan growing up) and McKnight (Cubs fan). The one exception would be Garfien. I love writing for FS though and it never gets old when you're writing for a site that has grown and always expanded during the duration of my time there. That's only going to continue too. I was being serious ( somewhat ) - for once Intentional or not, you'd be a great asset to the Sox publishing arm - should that ever become an ambition.
  22. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Jan 1, 2017 -> 12:20 AM) Theres no doubt the Padres have everyone beat in the tankforbeer sweepstakes. They will be historically bad. I'll gladly take the number 2 pick with open arms. Who knows what's gonna happen in 2017.
  23. In fact, just make them watch this...
  24. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Dec 31, 2016 -> 10:39 PM) Fans might say they are patient for a rebuild, but that patience might evaporate if this team becomes the laughing stock in Chicago while the Cubs keep killing it. In such a case, hopefully fans will oscillate back once we pick someone like Seth Beer in 2018.
