SOURCE: 2 horse race between Dodgers and Astros
hi8is replied to Carpe Diem's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Soxfest @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 04:27 PM) Springer has way less team control than I would want for a team rebuilding. Dude isn't a free agent until 2021. That's a lot of control dude. -

QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 03:48 PM) Ok, I ask again...can we assume these guys are going to duplicate their performances for the next 6 years? Springers production is proven. Bregman is more of a prospect than Beckham ever was. Of course you can't assume it but you can weigh the risk. -

Springer and Bregman are both protectable 5 WAR players annually. Springer hit 5 WAR last year in his first full season and Bregman nearly hit 2 WAR in 44 games. Sale's highest bWAR season was 6.9. A trade for Sale for those two players alone would be a massive overpay. If it happened, we should all be elated and send Hahn Hersey Kisses, Bubble Bath, Red Wine, and Roses. -

QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:09 PM) Where'd you read that? Guy only owned it for what 5 years? That's dumb, interested to see what it goes for though. Looks like it was some unsubstantiated bulls*** on twitter, disregard -

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) Just curious, what is the track record for Carpe Diem calling trades in the past? It's irrelevant, as he isn't claiming to be a source. -

QUOTE (Carpe Diem @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 09:51 AM) In regards for the Sale derby. Red Sox actually appear to be telling the truth when they say they won't pony up the price it would take to get Sale. Apparently Bregman and Springer are being dangled (not together) but the team still would ideally prefer trading him to the NL. Take this with a grain of salt if you want, but my source has been right about everything he has said so far dating back to 2014. Good. I'd be happy with a Dodger package including Urias and Bellenger +++ or an Astros package with Bregman ++++ or Springer +++++. I bet the Red Sox change their tune and come in with an offer last minute when they see we aren't balking. Edit: is your source someone who is also employed part time as a circus act? -

Four year control guys off the table(JQ,Nate,Eaton)
hi8is replied to Princess Dye's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Here's my best guess: Everyone wants Sale but is saying, "we won't give up X - so let's talk Quintana." This 4 year crap is a way to say "give us what we want or get nothing." -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 11:50 PM) I have a question: Why does everybody want to 'rebuild' when we already have a ton of good players? And a lot of awful players. But our front office could rectify the situation by adding a few in free agency. Look, do you trust our scouts to trade for the right young guys to rebuild?? I don't. You keep this amazing starting rotation intact and do these things... 1B - Keep Abreu. 2B - trade Frazier, play Saladino if his back is OK. SS - Keep Anderson 3B - Keep Frazier Infield prognosis: Very good infield offensively and defensively. LF - Trade Melky CF - Keep Eaton RF - Trade Avi. C - Pay one in free agency. DH - Pay one in free agency. Outfield prognosis: Admittedly not great. Bullpen: Sign some, trade for some. Look, a total rebuild is insane with this pitching staff. Our scouts suck. I don't trust a total revamping of the roster. You are looking at a 40 win team if we trade Sale, Q, Robertson, Frazier, Abreu. Lackluster effort, brother man.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Yessir. Your post is all that matters, and it should really be PMed to every member at the beginning of each offseason as a reminder. Best to just ignore it all until it's formally announced. I learned years ago what a fruitless waste of time it is giving interest to people with sources, or those who get pride from cracking a story an hour before it's announced- what a colossal waste of a man's time. Even if a story is cracked early it still doesn't become at all interesting until all the pieces are known. And that only comes from a formal announcement. Yup. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) Hang in there Sox fans; hope we get a BIIIIIG bat! Ewww. -

I wouldn't be surprised if right now the Dodgers are telling teams they "don't really want to let go of Puig anymore because he has shown encouraging signs". The point it this: You can't trust a damned thing in the media during an offseason. -
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 19, 2016 -> 05:32 AM) Rick, Keep up the good work my man. If I had another term I'd consider you for .. for.. , well some sort of position. Remember, nothing in life is guaranteed ( well except the name of Sox Park ( haha I crack myself up ). Hey no me being on crack jokes back from you. Did I have a point to make ? Oh yea nothing in life is guaranteed so take risks ,be brave and stand your ground. Did I already say nothing in life is guaranteed? OK I did but that goes double with the new admin . Any who looking forward to throwing out the 1st pitch on opening day in 2017. Barack Obama P.S. f*** the Cubs Hey B-Dawg. Thanks for the note of encouragement. You know how negotiations are. Just like you don't negotiate with terrorists, we don't negotiate with the Cubs. Let me know if anyone in your cabinet needs legal advice. Can hook you up pro bono. Excuse me, have to poop. -RH

Braves among teams showing interest in chris sale
hi8is replied to Whisox05's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 07:51 AM) Price huge, but #Braves haven't pulled back yet. I'd imagine they're asking for Swanson, Incarte, Maitan, ++. -
QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 18, 2016 -> 10:07 PM) What's to review on our deal? It's a perfectly fair trade for Sale. Also I would like to talk Nate Jones. What's it gona take? Seems like there was some backlash from the Commissions office. Am I mistaken, you got the go ahead? Nate Jones, I'm not in any hurry to move him. Gonna go pour a box of cherry-o's into the toilet and see if I can sink them all with my piss. Night, -RH

Nick Williams Jake Thompson Andrew Knapp Roman Quinn Rhys Hoskins Not sure. Since your team has been so god awful I instructed my scouting director to pull every area scout from your affiliates in 2013. Let me get back at you. -Rick
