  1. QUOTE (Dunt @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:34 PM) Apparently the Nats increased their offer to Robles, Giolito, and Lopez this morning. Tough to turn that one down, that's a lot of faith in Moncada and Kopech turning into stars. Tough to pass that up and I'm surprised they couldn't use that nationals offer to get more from Boston. Kinda call bulls*** on that one.
  2. QUOTE (Two-Gun Pete @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:28 PM) "Big Game" James should be the Opening Day starter... Just to make this team's tanking intentions perfectly clear. By the time this firesale is over, this could be a 120 game losing team. I fully support James Shields in this way and hope for him to royally suck for us.
  3. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:04 PM) Imagine if he hits Syndergaard level..... Yea. The Sale trade has a chance to be a new age Cano and Syndergaard for us at best. A complete f***ing s*** show at worst.
  4. Once we're done with a lot of the main pieces being sold this offseason, I nominate myself to make the next banner. See my signature for a reference. Hell, use that s*** as the signature for now.
  5. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 05:52 PM) Funny, considering I was the only person who called Shields being worse than Latos and Gonzalez. Well, I did literally say repeatedly: "if I can hit him anyone can - he's horrible".
  6. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) Right. The question I have is does Moncada have a higher possibility of busting than say Bregman/Swanson/Giolito? Yes, yes, no
  7. QUOTE (South Sider @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:35 PM) Joel Sherman ‏@Joelsherman1 13m13 minutes ago Short chat with #Whitesox owner Jerry Reinsdorf: "Boston knows what it got (Sale). We hope we know what we got." #Redsox Kind of a cryptic message from the chairman. What a sunny comment, Jerry. Sour Sally.
  8. QUOTE (oldsox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) So did Engel a year ago. Touché, thou - obviously different evaluation in play between the two with vastly different pedigrees.
  9. QUOTE (Black_Jack29 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 02:47 PM) It'll be interesting to see what they do with Frazier now. Do they offer him a four-year deal? That would keep him here through 2020. Hell no he's the next guy traded IMO
  10. A poor mans Mike Trout is always a positive too
  11. For those of you pissed off - consider this possibility: Moncada's cieling comps are Robinson Cano and Manny Machado Kopech's cieling comp is Noah Syndergaard Then you've got another prospect with a cieling comp of a starting center fielder Round it off with another guy who you're gambling on development no through your system to a strength and into another high end starting roatation arm. You hit on this and you've turned 3 years of Sale into 7 years of Robinson Cano and Noah Syndergaard... ++.
  12. Baseball America has it this way: http://www.baseballamerica.com/minors/2017...KW6TwHfVtUgd.97 Every other publication has Moncada first.
  13. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) I have a soft spot in my heart for Jose, since he was the first MLB player I've ever interviewed. With Moncada in the fold, I'd like to see him stay. I'd be surprised if Jose isn't moved at this trade deadline. Rebuilds value and gives him time to help bring Moncada under his wing.
  14. I honestly think I would have liked Benintendi instead myself. You guys?
  15. Also Dombrowski said that Hanh called a Friday and basically said, "we've determined we are moving Sale and we are willing to come off names we have demanded in the past."
  16. QUOTE (gatnom @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) Fair trade for the most part. A little disappointed they weren't able to get a fifth player in the deal, though. Find solace that they got almost 32mm instead. That could buy anything from a top tier ace to three 2 WAR type players in 2019 or 2020.
  17. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:52 PM) What, too much work for you?? @BNightengale The #WhiteSox getting besieged with calls now for Jose Quintana, but the Sox are expected to step back, catch breath, before dealing him Bulls*** - this is a white sox leak.
  18. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 12:40 PM) Chelsa Messinger ‏@ChelsaMessinger 1h1 hour ago Fort Myers, FL Chris Sale's college coach just sent me this. Says he's so excited to join @RedSox https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CzBDP0LVEAArYuz.jpg:large Smart move by the bosox - first moment of sadness I've felt over this
  19. I'm also concerned with Monacada's contact / hit tool but it's hard to argue with him being a great headliner.
  20. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 10:36 AM) This. There is a reason they were ok with dealing him. Dude is a dickface I guess bows the time to make public something you've told me privately for years now
