Homer Bailey has to be a target next season if the reds don't extend him. On the starting catcher front I'm not seeing much next year as well... We're likely to get our catcher via trade IMO.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 06:14 PM) How 'bout it especially after he agent takes his ~10+% 4.5%

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 04:50 PM) Keith Law was on Waddle and Silvy yesterday and was EXTREMELY complimentary of Rick Hahn and what the Sox have done since July's trade deadline. Surprises await still.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 14, 2014 -> 06:47 AM) Or he's going to rape face. That's always fun

QUOTE (Paulstar @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 03:08 PM) Am I the only one who thinks Andre Rienzo has potential to be a really solid starter in this league, maybe even as good as a no 3. In my eyes he's a fringe long man / 5th starter.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 23, 2014 -> 12:55 PM) Who? And for how much? I'll throw 200 innings for a cool million, post taxes... Of course. Excuse me, I've gotta get some ice on my money maker.

Wait a minute, the cubs didn't sign him??? But but but.... They said they wouldn't be outbid!!!!

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 07:01 PM) No Peavy or Santiago. I'm confident in this organization to furnish replacements for what was a mediocre season by Peavy and a year with Santiago that should not be a guaranteed improvement for the Halo's. They're both not guarantees to give much above replacement level.

QUOTE (StRoostifer @ Jan 22, 2014 -> 03:04 PM) I would say this is the best bet. Sounds like the Sox aren't going after FA starting pitching and they do a good job of drafting and developing young pitching talent so it makes the most sense. Not to mention that whole Kershaw and Tanaka big-ass contract fest we just witnessed. Pitching is at a premium like never before and we're entering into a new era of the dead ball IMO. Pitching, pitching, and more pitching. Our ability to nab arms and meld them into useful contributors will allow us to right this ship before many other rebuilding clubs.

First spring training game is Feb. 28th against the dodgers at 2:05 CST

Say hello to drafting a starter at number three in this years draft.
-
Yea. Called that all along.

More meaningless speculation here... But really we all should be hoping NOT to hear anything. If the Sox get their man, my thought is that they'd like to keep a tight wrap on things and blow it out of the bag exactly at 4pm Friday when opening Soxfest. Boobes.

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 06:12 PM) I think it worked... and I may or may not be the poster in question.. maybe. You should know by now that I'm rarely serious I knew it was you right away dude. Same twitter handle as your Soxtalk name, come on

QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 06:06 PM) https://twitter.com/titomb345/status/425811286509637632 Confirmed: Tanaka to the Sox! It's on twitter, it's gotta be true. (JKing OBVIOUSLY!) Who is this twitter poster? Seems like some bum making up things again in an attempt to coax us into an emotionally charged debate. f***ING HELL s*** f*** f*** f*** s***!

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 05:57 PM) Weren't we supposed to hear something by now? Shouldn't he have finished breakfast? You tell me Jose. I expected a 6:00am CST announcement from your post last night. Tisk tack, wiggity wack.

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 02:30 PM) Let's say the Sox have this option: 3-way trade: Team A trades: $100M cash Team A receives: 4 Sox prospects Sox trade: 4 prospects Sox receive: 6 years of Tanaka at an average salary that is comparable to a 6-year arbitration salary Rakuten Golden Eagles trade: 6 years of Tanaka at an average salary that is comparable to a 6-year arbitration salary Rakuten Golden Eagles receive: $100M cash Do the Sox make that deal? I think it's very possible they do. A Castro deal would be the same idea as above. You're still getting something that you think is going to help long-term. $$$$ and payroll space is one type of resource, prospects are another. If you can use both however then that is preferable since you don't go too far into one extreme or the other, i.e. tons of bad contracts and little wiggle room or a barren farm system. WTF are you talking about man? Pass me the crack pipe please

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 03:54 PM) Hanh Quotes Thanks raBBit. Good on ya.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 03:36 PM) Hinted that he only targeted 1 catcher in free agency, and it was McCann I nailed Hanh's "Plan A" then. Called for Abreu, McCann, and Tanaka.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 02:55 PM) Your icon makes me think of Pink Floyd "Pulse", questions, comments, concerns? Sounds about right. Makes me think back to the wonderful "explorative" days of my youth. Many a Pink Floyd songs where played. Animals and Meddle happen to be my favorite albums.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 02:16 PM) Ah man, don't tell me you're a Brony. Netflix made a film all about me. Soak in that envy, son!

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 01:15 PM) All this thread is is false tweets. Posted mainly by you. It's more relevant to talk about my little pony dude.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jan 21, 2014 -> 12:36 PM) I can't believe anybody would guarantee 100M+ to a guy that's never pitched in the majors. That's an incredible risk. Edit 120M+ Motherf***ers stupid. I sure wouldn't mind having another chance to grab darvish for 108M

Yawn. This thread is officially the worst in Soxtalk history. Even my attempts to resurrect it with my little pony magic sprinkles have gone unsuccessful. Bottom line is, we've got some new kids that will require patience as they learn the offseason ways. That and twitter can be a god awful thing. Brown and green mushy poop.

These nightly recaps have been the best source for information during this two week fiasco. Kudos.
