  3. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 05:45 PM) Albies is my favourite of the potential headliners. Blocked at 2B by Moncada, but wouldn't think he's blocked at SS by Anderson after his year, contract or no. Albies, Soroka and Rio Ruiz gets it done for me. Albies - SS Moncada - 2B Anderson - CF ?
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 04:02 PM) Which is funny, because it's ultimately three small/mid market teams after him. I'll give Hahn credit, the Brewers & Rockies probably weren't willing to commit the prospect capital this offseason to add a guy like Quintana. Their fast starts and open paths to the playoffs have made them buyers. The Braves have obviously been interested for a while, but hopefully having a few other teams in the mix pushes them to offer something that we'd actually consider. Really surprised the Yankees are sitting on the sidelines for now if the rumors are true. This is getting really exciting and I'm starting to think the Rockies are the team that lands him. He looked incredible in Coors last week, the Rockies desperately need a starter who has the stamina to pitch deep into October, and their front office is a little bit crazy. With a couple key guys only under control for another year or two (Blackmon & Arenado), it's really now or never for them to make a big move with this core. Que the Mr. Burns "muhahahahahah - excellent" meme.

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 03:59 PM) I've never considered the catcher an infielder, just as I've never considered a pitcher an infielder. You have the battery, infield, and outfield. So for future roster considerations I guess I'll break down positional speculation in those three categories... Infielders Outfielders Batteries Yup... sounds right to me. Thanks guys

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 03:53 PM) I didn't know Collins did either But seriously, I thought you were listing all the high end positional talent in the system. Is a catcher no longer considered a member of the infield? Perhaps it never was and I'm just further solidifying my title of village idiot.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 03:16 PM) Never going to stop going to bat for Albies Moncada Albies Anderson Burger Abreu Sheets Collins There's a lot of hope to find in there for a good up the middle defense and some dynamic bats / speed to build your future infield plus a DH.

  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:42 PM) The suck has only begun. We are about to get worse in the starting rotation and in the infield defense, as well as the bullpen. It is going to be ugly with a capital U after the deals start. Very excite

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:41 PM) The BEST you can hope for there is 2 out of 3. My guess is one of Albies/Acuna is the other limitation. He was saying one of those big three plus other secondary pieces - not all three. His use of / was denoting "or".

QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:42 PM) Tin foil hat time, but maybe Hahn is trying to use the unwritten rule of not overshadowing the all star game to leverage teams by saying we are looking to get this done soon and then putting out all these rumors and telling teams that one team popped and is offering what were asking and that we are going to take it, but are waiting until tomorrow, which gives the other teams time to up their offers. That doesn't seem too "tin foil hat" to me... it's actually smart thinking.

QUOTE (steveno89 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 02:28 PM) "Scott Carasik‏ @CarasikS Follow More Braves are pushing hard for Quintana from the White Sox. Large package of prospects looking like what gets deal done.WS want a top 3 org bat" No source attached, but this is certainly a very interesting development if true... He also said: "Braves hesitant to part with Maitan, Acuna or Albies, though. Especially the latter as those two should be up at some point in 2018. One more note here: Braves would be most likely to part with Albies as Phillps and Camargo can both play 2B through 2017 and into 2018. And if the Braves trade Albies, it means they could be looking at Demeritte as the long-term option at 2B instead." Edit: I'd hope for Acuna and Maitan or Albies... as just Albies alone as a headliner isn't enough IMO. But what the hell do I know.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 01:18 PM) Of course, as I say all this I will be flipping my s*** if they trade for 3 guys that I havent even heard their names before. That shipp ain't happenin

QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 12:48 PM) The majority of all these hypothetical trade proposals and prospect evaluations done on here for the past few months will all be off from who actually turns out to be great in the future. Thats why, no matter what the trade is for Q I am just going to try to be patient and see what the guys develop into. As long as Hahn and his scouts like the players is what matters. +1 Dare I say, that's the s***

QUOTE (raBBit @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:38 AM) There is a rental from the past couple seasons who had value. The White Sox had a great offer. KW said no to moving him. He wanted to try and compete. This is upsetting and insightful - hopefully Kenny's no longer in such a stance

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:24 AM) I know in recent history Hahn hasn't done much at the deadline but we also weren't rebuilding during those times. I guess you could argue we were rebuilding last year at the deadline but we really didn't have any expiring assets like we do this year. The impending free agents we did have had no value. I als think that Hahn holding onto Sale last trade deadline will ring out to potential Q buyers... Hahn has established credibility and my hope is that it pays off in the coming weeks.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:11 AM) So when he comes here and says there will be disappointment in a deal, he's mostly referring to the people who think we are going to get an organization's top 2 prospects plus 3 more guys. I never had that expectation but it seems people on here could. I don't know but from what I'm able to see reading between the lines - he doesn't know enough to quantify that type of statement against anything more than some lofty expectations we've seen here at times. That said, your logic is likely correct. Edit: It should also be remembered that he may know more than he's publicly saying. We're officially in the "we still don't know jack s*** but there's more fun tidbits to speculate on" phase.

QUOTE (bmags @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 11:07 AM) But I don't think think this is what Hahn would do. It is being recommended he "wait out the market" by letting it expire for expendable assets in the hope that could translate as a bigger return for Q. I find that extremely risky in the hopes of adding some unknown % of a better deal to Q/Robertson. That's why I don't think we'll see a typical Hahn trade deadline: we have a lot of assets that we can't wait out. No matter what, this years gonna be different. What I'm specifically getting at is that Hahn has established integrity with kther GM's and they will know that he is willing to hold Q if he doesn't get an acceptable offer.
  25. QUOTE (shipps @ Jul 11, 2017 -> 10:38 AM) So basically they ARE just going to settle for the return they get for Q. To this sentiment raBBit replied on Twitter: "Can't be sure. Factors in this whole scenario are looking up for Sox." He also specified: "Should add Braves have been involved in talks for a long while."
