QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 10, 2013 -> 06:24 AM) Why? If the scouting department likes him over Carlos Perez or any other Rule 5 eligible catcher, then bring him in. There's next to no risk involved. Best case scenario is that you get a starter and perhaps a very good starter out of the process. Worst case scenario is that you return them back and you're out $25K, which is chump change for a major league team. Because he's been in the minors for 5 years and has only hit moderately well one year. Yes he was signed out of High School but with the 3rd pick in the Rule 5 draft - I suspect there is a better option out there who could build more value in our system.

QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 10:08 PM) Ha, you are definitely the poop guy around here. I'll be dealing with a lot of it, soon

QUOTE (raBBit @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 09:34 PM) Congrats hi8is. It is strange that fathers say 'dope' now. On Internet boards - they say "poop" a lot too Thanks Rabbit

I'm starting to get antsy for March. My baby boy will be watching his first sox game on the 31st... At the age of three weeks old. Dope.

QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 9, 2013 -> 11:32 AM) suddenly it's moving really fast toward trading Sale. um... says who?

QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Dec 8, 2013 -> 10:53 PM) Thompson and Snodgress have very little trade value. Santiago looks decent, but is just a #4-5 starter right now. Beck is interesting, but he is also not that close to the majors yet, and Jones is a solid bullpen arm, but we can replace him immediately with Webb. I think that's a fair offer, assuming an extension is coming w/ Headley. Alrighty then - you sold me Headley ( plus an extension ) and Grandal. Bring it on!
-
The timing of this release is suspicious. Couple that news with our reported interest in Headley... and I see Hanh making a leverage play.

QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 8, 2013 -> 09:01 PM) Headley and Grandal for Santiago, Beck, Jones, Thompson and Snodgrass. Kill 2 birds with one stone right there. Overpay IMO

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 4, 2013 -> 03:37 PM) After JDA, I'm not ruling the Sox out if Hahn wants him. Sale - Tanaka - Quintana - Johnson - Danks/Santiago looks damn good on paper. I've wanted Tanaka since seeing he would be posting, just figured it wouldn't be possible. If these new regulations come to pass thou - the realm of possibility becomes in sight. Hummmmm...

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 3, 2013 -> 09:57 PM) I would keep an eye out for Kemp or Ethier. I got a feeling one is on Rick's radar. I've had the same feeling for quite some time, Kid.

QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 2, 2013 -> 07:49 PM) Who cares, its 950K. He's worth bringing into camp at that price. Its not inconceivable that he could be a useful part time player next year. Hell, the Sox shoulda gave me that 950k

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 27, 2013 -> 07:08 AM) I find it kind of funny that nobody got in last year yet this year is the deepest group and guys may not get votes in order to keep others on the ballot. Thomas, Maddux, Glavine and Piazza should all get in. That is it. Next year Bonds and Clemens. Makes the PED statement a little. Three players that have never been attributed to PEDs in then let the PED connected guys have their day next year. I hope that those connected to PEDs never have their day in the hall

I'm sure the Nolasco signing by Minnesota will help drive up interst in our starters. The amount of money people are getting this year is wild... Also makes Abru look even better.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Nov 26, 2013 -> 10:03 PM) Let's all pick a stock and see which one performs the best between now and Christmas. POO

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Nov 17, 2013 -> 05:55 AM) One of my favorite white sox catchers ever. Ben Davis. (don't judge me) Hi, Katie.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 16, 2013 -> 06:16 PM) Craig Grebeck Guy was a class act. My Dad and I would meet with him every year and talk for at least 30 minutes after a game while he was on the road playing the Halo's. It was common to have such encounters for all 3 or 4 games during a series. Great guy.

QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 04:03 PM) If I wanted leverage, I'd sure say that I had no more money to spend and that I'm happy with all of my players Ding ding ding - we have a winner! This posture helps with trade and free agent leverage.

QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 10, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) For those wondering... Rosario: Home - 96 wRC+ (.817 OPS) 19% K Away - 113 wRC+ (.785 OPS) 27% K Wonder if that K difference is common for Colorado players. In 2012, he walked 7.7% of the time at home versus 3.9% away as well. This year it was 3.3 versus 3.0, respectively. Not sure why he quit walking or why that is different based on ballpark either. He's never had a high walk rate... No matter where he's raking at.

QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 10, 2013 -> 04:26 PM) Wilin Rosario is a popular name these days... Yes please!
