  1. Regarding Salty, less strike outs please.
  2. I personally think Dunn will have his best year in a white sox uniform next year. Contract year and he's got a ton of work to do in repairing his rep. Stranger things have happened. In my ideal lineup, he's hitting no higher than 6th.
  3. Next years draft will be interesting for sure. Turner, Gatewood, Hoffman, and Kolek would be picks that made me happy. I don't know the four well enough but my order of preference is probably... Hoffman Turner Kolek Gatewood Thinking we end up with Turner and I'd be happy with that.
  4. QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 19, 2013 -> 12:25 PM) Right out of the draft??? That doesn't happen. I was going to say rarely... Like, super freaking rarely. Only pick I can think of really is Sale.
  5. I think he's a big sleeper for the Sox who could allow us for ability in trades from our position of strength. Would like to see a one year deal with a team option. What'da ya think, SoxTalk?
  6. QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 04:20 PM) Why is everyone assuming we are definitely going to sign another big name? This may be our only signing. Probably for a few reasons... The major two being a multitude of free cash and gaping holes. Gaping holes... Gaping... Holes....
  7. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) overall thoughts, fellas? Stick around and post more often. No need to poop on your thoughts... Just rather would encourage you to continue engaging. Cheers...
  8. QUOTE (scs787 @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 11:14 AM) You mean the guy who hit .313 with RISP, and .340 with RISP w/2 outs this year? Ohhhhhh... Burn!
  9. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 10:07 AM) I just can't believe people call a guy that hit 25 home runs as a 23 year old rookie a bust. He struggled last year. A sophomore campaign in which he only had 470 PA's due to injuries. I'm with ya... Brotha. Seriously think Dayan has a great chance to break out this year if he can stay healthy. Sophomore slump / growing pains / injuries are how I define his 2013. Still have mucho faith in The Tank!
  10. QUOTE (staxx @ Oct 18, 2013 -> 06:06 AM) my exact thoughts.. i'm beyond ecstatic, but the bleacher report scouting thing that said he struggles to cover a 92 mph inside fastball... that doesn't exactly scream MLB hitter. I don't really understand where this is coming from. In Cuba, scouts aren't allowed to set foot near a live game - let along bring a radar gun in. In his WBC games he hit almost .400... So you're telling me that a hitter better than Cespedes and Puig can't turn on mediocre heat? I seriously doubt it. I will only believe this scouting report if it becomes evident during spring training. The guy hasn't been a big strike out guy so far in 7 out of 8 seasons in Cuba. If he has some thou me in his rookie year but can make he adjustment - that's all that matters and really, to me... That's the most likely worst case scenario.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:40 PM) 64 pages? Time to skim them all. Obviously it's worth the gamble.
  12. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:24 PM) As I've said for weeks: Abreu target #1 McCann target #2 They're likely gonna deal for a young impact 3B or CF. My hit list: C - McCann 3B - Lowrie Dark horse - Josh Johnson
  13. QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 11:34 PM) 64 pages? Time to skim them all. Obviously it's worth the gamble and I don't even know how much the Sox are paying him yet. Um... Read the thread title much?
  14. QUOTE (Frank_Thomas35 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 09:30 PM) I really doubt we have the money for mcCann but if we were to some how sign him I might s*** my pants everyday till opening day, and I wouldn't even care. He's a perfect fit and is young enough could be + production we desperately need. I just don't know if Hahn has it in him. Anyone know if he was asked that at the fan conference call today? We've got the $$
  15. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 09:20 PM) Absolutely love this move, couldn't be more excited. We've filled our biggest hole with the best free agent available at the position. Here's what we currently have for next year offensively: 1B) Abreu 2B) Beckham (or Semien) SS) Ramirez 3B) Gillaspie/Keppinger LF) Viciedo CF) De Aza RF) Garcia DH) Dunn C) Phegley Catcher & 3B are the only true holes IMO. I think Hahn will try to address C in free agency, as the idea of entering the season with Phegley as the starter is quite frightening. At least with 3B we should be able to get reasonable production from a Gillaspie/Keppinger platoon. Still a long-term problem for us, so you got to think Hahn will explore trade possibilities. It's amazing how much better shape we're in after this one move though. Call me silly if you want but McCann, AJ, or bust.
  16. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 09:05 PM) BTW, they LOOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEEEE Keppinger I'm game for him to have another shot at staring 3B. Hoping he can prove last year to be a fluke. Would much rather trade a SP for Lowrie and move Kepp back into a utility role.
  17. QUOTE (Sockin @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 08:05 PM) Confirmed by second source! Jesse Sanchez ‏@JesseSanchezMLB Sources confirm @Ken_Rosenthal's report: Abreu 6 years, $68 million pending physical with CWS. #Astros & #RedSox were also in hunt today. https://twitter.com/JesseSanchezMLB/status/...036073565880320 BOOM GOES THE DYNOMITE!!!
  18. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 07:56 PM) Anyone thinks he reads Soxtalk? Mere seconds after my info I'd be shocked if they went live with the on report based upon your post. On the other hand, I expect that he does indeed read our community.
  19. QUOTE (hi8is @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 07:55 PM) My guess... 4 Damn I'm good
  20. Rosey on FOX during the game saying White Sox expected to sign him. Doubt they'd say that in the middle of the ALCS without some serious clout behind it. Now, the real question is... How many others just posted something similar? My guess... 4
  21. QUOTE (ChiSoxFan05 @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 07:46 PM) I switched from WSI to here because it sucks... this is much better I only picked that first because a friend recommended it Welcome to The Show.
  22. WSI - 5 pages on this topic SOXTALK - ummm... Yea.
  23. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 07:35 PM) f*** the mystery team. I second this with a resounding endorsement!
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Oct 17, 2013 -> 07:27 PM) Jeff Passan ‏@JeffPassan 1m Astros also are out on Abreu. Other reports indicate Red Sox out. One source suggested there could be last-right-of-refusal mystery team. Booooooooooooooooooooooooo
