Moncada based on speed and defensive potential

It's difficult not to be influenced by Moncada's slow start to his career while at the same time seeing Eloy raking in the mnors. It kind of skews my perspective. I hope they are both so good that you can ask who has had a better career in 15 years.

Tough to say "better" as they are both going to be different players. I think Jimenez is going to be more of tradition power hitter, while Yoan is going to be more of a 5 tool kind of guys who brings speed and stretching the bases to the game, and probably won't have nearly the same power as Eloy.

I think Eloy is going to be a bigger fan favorite, Yoan will probably be better.

Eloy. Not a doubt in my mind.

I voted Eloy because the power and hit tools will be superstar level. Moncada very well could be the well-rounded superstar but there are far more questions about each tool that make his floor vs ceiling more variable with no tool bankable at this point.

Moncada for sure. I’d argue he has the second highest ceiling amongst major league positional players and I fully expcect him to slowly realize that potential over the next couple years.

Moncada based on floor via his fallback skills (speed, defense, eye, switch hitter).

Voted Jimenez because his skills stand to play better over a long career than Moncada's, which seem more dependent on explosiveness and youth.

Voted Moncada because of all around skill and higher floor.

Have to go Moncada here, mostly due to defense and speed.

Went with Eloy. I think they'll both be All-Stars, but Eloy's power potential does it for me.

tight vote. I wish I could say for certain about Yoan...but honestly I don't have a clue about his makeup. Seems to me he has all the talent in the world...what he does with that (while juggling all the outside influences and how he handles those which nobody can say for sure) to me is key. Does he want to be the best? Does he want to be a model (don't jump on me...just sayin'). I have no clue what he's about so it's hard to say honestly. I voted Eloy just on the basis of he literally seems to WANT to be the best and has stated as much.

Went with Moncada based on his switch hitting and overall potential, speed/defense/power/batting eye.

You need to get that Owen character writing more!

Hopefully they're both hall of famers who are key pieces to the core of several championship teams and this ends up a debate for the ages.

They both look like they have potential to be great hitters in different ways but I went Eloy. I don’t see any reason to think he won’t take the league by storm when he gets to Chicago.

Funny... I saw the poll and without yet reading the article, voted Eloy based on his makeup set against Yoan's "slow" adjustment. Think they'll both be cornerstones.

 

My initial thought was, "I bet the vote is 50/50."

 

After casting one for Eloy, the results where exactly that.
