It’s been their only inexcusable failure this season IMO. Ways to shut me the f*** up: 1.) Davis returns to form. 2.) One of Thorpe / Smith / Schultz / Sandlin prove to be viable rotation piece. 3.) Starting pitching isn’t an issue in the post season. AND They also get a frontline starting pitcher this offseason via trade or free agency.So what. He’s a sinker baller that neutralizes park factor by keeping the ball on the ground. He has a career rate of 0.8 HR / per 9 at fields known to be hitter friendly. Compare throwing bullpen games, playing fifth starter craps with a bunch of unproven guys, or having someone else like Webb that you can put at the front of the rotation until 2029. That is worth the price in my mind. Sets us up as legit contenders to play meaningful post season baseball THIS year and sets us up for the next two years thereafter. Burke / Webb / Castillo line up perfectly in a 5 game series. Also puts us in a good position for a best of 7.Poor baby.Or you could say they believe in him more than any other catcher not named Teel and want him to work on a select few things while still getting daily at bats.Repeating value to demonstrate that start wasn’t an aberration is still a valid concern.
