  1. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Nov 13, 2010 -> 12:10 PM) 15% cut in procurement - do you know what that means? They cannot order any more new (insert program here). They are eliminating programs. There were actually very specific targets mentioned, but evidently not highlighted in what you read. One of the suggested cuts is my paycheck (almost literally). I guess I better move on... I'm not sure how defense cuts are going to affect me because I'm under the same umbrella but in a different market. I'm guessing salaries are going to be flattened/compressed downwards. I don't see mass layoffs happening overnight (knock on wood)
  2. Let's reverse the liberal/conservative ratio in here and then bring up one of Obama's books and see how unpredictable that is?
  3. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 11:22 PM) BUT JETER ONLY HAD 6 ERRORS. HE IS AMAZING. I had 0. I am better
  4. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 07:16 PM) Best part of the Fan Up! bullcrap is that they fired their ticket sales team because they didn't need them. During a recession in one of the states hardest hit by the economy
  5. I'm on the White Sox official Facebook page attempting to explain why Alexei's defense was fantastic to the baseball retarded. He had 20 errors? Yeah ok but his range means that he had 215 more playable balls than the Gold Glove winner and he had 249 putouts instead of 182. This is pretty basic stuff I'd think
  6. Jesus Christ you guys are sensitive. I'm willing to bend a certain amount, and expect others to do the same for the sake of balance and just overall tolerability, but some of your expectations are frankly pretty hilarious, to be honest with you.
  7. QUOTE (balfanman @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) I think the "something" that changed was K. W. went out and got Alex Rios for the stretch run and J. D. pouted about maybe losing playing time. I know that Dye was slumping prior to the acquisition, but then he started complaining about how his playing time might get cut instead of figuring out how to help his team out by....oh...I don't know....maybe hitting a baseball once in a while. In actuality, Dyes playing time should of been cut drastically and it wasn't. I love J.D. for what he did in his Sox career, especially 2005; but he seems like way too much of a "me first" guy rather than his concerns over the team. JMHO I never, ever thought of him that way at any point. He'd have done anything the team asked him to. He was definitely whining and pouting in 2009 though and I remember everybody rubbing it the wrong way. It was like he felt somebody owed him something at that point.
  8. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 12, 2010 -> 06:00 PM) The worst part is that he's just so damn oblivious. There's lots of assholes out there in sports who know they're assholes. Lebron has no clue why anyone is upset with him, or why whining about playing too many minutes might reflect poorly on him. It's because he's black
  9. lol, LeBron is such a p****. He basically said the Heat lost because he played too much. I mean I figured the minutes would wear on him, but I didn't think he'd be "tired" by the 9th game of the season. When has he accepted responsibility for anything? Ever?
  10. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 10:20 PM) A wild JETER appears. Go Alexei! Alexei uses DEFENSE. It's super effective! JETER uses DEFENSE. But it failed. Alexei uses SLUG. It's super effective! JETER uses SNATCH. Wild JETER stole GOLD GLOVE. lol nice
  11. Well this is a curb-stomping. Bulls up by almost 30 and it's only halfway thru the second.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 08:23 AM) For the most part, these ballots will be abundantly clear for voter intent, except for one problem. There is another "Lisa M" who was a write-in candidate. So anyone who just wrote Lisa, or who wrote Lisa M, probably won't count, and shouldn't. If anyone actually votes like this they are a moron.
  13. John Bolton and John Yoo wrote a ridiculously stupid op-ed in the NYT (liberal media strikes again) and Fred Kaplan gives a comprehensive takedown basically exposing the whole thing as a bunch of lies. Really though there are very few, if any, substantive reasons to oppose the treaty so the next step is just to fabricate objections through exaggeration, or just make them up out of whole cloth to squeeze political gain from it, i.e. not let President Obama have any credit for it.
  14. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 06:21 PM) Shouldnt this discussion go in the Filibuster section about the pedophile book on Amazon?? Not really. 17 year old + 17 year age of consent ≠ pedophilia (thats why I posted that in the first place, I figured someone was going to comment even though there was nothing wrong with what he said)
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 02:02 PM) Chris Bosh's usage numbers have gone through the floor now that he's just a 3rd option. It doesn't seem like the Heat are getting as much efficiency out of that offense as they should be. It's like, at any given time, their offense is one-dimensional and runs through either LeBron or Wade.
  16. He could have easily played last year if he just dropped his absurd demands to something more reasonable.
  17. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) I am not clicking the link, but from that description, it sounds to me like he is trying to 'offer' a set of 'rules' for pedophiles to voluntariloy follow to make the situation 'safer' and sentences if caught possibly lighter. I don't get it. To be honest I was too creeped out to read the rest of it. lol.
  18. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 05:48 PM) At first I was thinking you wanted Miranda Cosgrove to play for the Sox. Then I got what you were driving at...and I agree. 17 is the age of consent in Illinois, no? lol... she's grown up quite a bit since the School of Rock days
  19. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 03:25 PM) Ya know, I feel I have to defend my craft here a bit. While there are SOME cases where the rewards are out of whack, the numbers that people get on settlements or even verdicts (less so) aren't just made up figures. For example, if you get into MVA and have just soft tissues injuries, you're looking at 5k minimum in healthcare costs. Few thousand for the hospital, doctor, radiology, etc, 4-500 for your couple of follow up appointments. That case gets settled for a max of about 1500 bucks more than the medical bills for "pain and suffering." Take that basic case and extend it out, and that's what it is. The bills get higher, but the percentage of the settlement for pain/suffering and whatnot doesn't really go up. Once you bring in loss of income (or god forbid loss of life), that's when you see the big awards, but id' say 95% of the time it's justified. It's a system that requires evidence (because despite people claiming their owed a zillion dollars, the other side doesn't want to pay a dime, so they're going to fight whatever you're demanding), so you can't very well make up something that's not true. And while juries sometime go overboard, more often than not those awards get lessened on appeal. Lawsuits aren't really the problem in my opinion. It's the crazy billing. You won't get a whole lot of resistance from the left on this... FWIW. They're pretty used to trying to debunk claims that tort reform is a magic bullet.
  20. From the description I read it doesn't sound like the author is showing people how to do anything illegal but it's still really creepy to read.
  21. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) Anyone who served is a veteran. Many people serve in vital non-combat roles both overseas and state side. This
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 08:01 PM) Jesus, that is like an extra hit and a quarter PER GAME. You don't get an error on a ball you can't even play, because they have a word for that kind of event. It's called a "single."
  23. QUOTE (knightni @ Nov 10, 2010 -> 06:22 PM) So often that, after awhile, you won't even notice. That's what it's like living in the landing path of an airport too
  24. 22 5-stars, 3 4-stars, 9 3-stars, and 1,331 1-stars Seriously though what the f***?
