  1. Fine outing for Danks. Let Williams or Linebrink get some work in.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 08:12 PM) ...and you can cancel the perfecto postgame show. You could've cancelled that one on the first batter he faced since Danks walked him.
  3. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 08:06 PM) Look at what a Jays fan put on another message board I am on.... "Pierzynski can suck a dick. He's such a b**** ass. I can't wait for someone to throw 100 MPH at his head and end his career" Him and a couple other Jays fans blew up last night over AJ's "HBP" and talked about how much of an asshole he is and ect. I think people just hate him for things just because it is popular to hate him, and people blow everything he does out of proportion. Do players fake being HBP? Sure. Can you name any of them? Probably not. But when AJ does it, people freak out and go nuts about it. I was reading comments about this and some fans of other teams were saying this too (the part about where people freak out because it's AJ) although most of the comments were of the "f*** AJ" variety.
  4. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 07:35 PM) Just no focus at the plate. He's just giving away at bats right now. When hasn't AJ given away at-bats? Even when he's hitting he's still prone to those damn first-pitch popups.
  5. Greg the Sox did show interest
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 04:24 PM) And have to replace the hard drive within 2 years, re-image the OS because of performance issues and spyware a few times finally having to upgrade after 3 years. Like BigSqwert said, where does this happen? I've been using PCs for about 12 years, and I had exactly 1 hard drive die on me. The only OS I had problems with was Windows ME because it was a piece of s*** OS that MSFT is ashamed of admitting responsibility for. Vista wasn't anywhere near as bad for me as everyone says it is, especially in this thread, but I have 7 now and it's great. The only time I had a bad spyware problem was when I was messing around with software/websites I really shouldn't have been.
  7. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 14, 2010 -> 11:35 AM) So how do you fell about Huckabees statement? Would you vote for him? I know he already replied to the post but I'll say he's being consistent, 2K5 isn't that kind of conservative. Not that they don't exist elsewhere in the country, but now that I think of it I don't really know that many on this board that are, actually.
  8. QUOTE (Cali @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) Hey Orlando...you're black, and you have a job. Couldn't be cause JD is older and his production has dropped off in both defense and offense and he refusing to admit he's just a DH now...couldn't be that right? That's just crazy talk.
  9. It would help Greece a lot if they could devalue their currency. That would only be a band-aid fix though, they basically have to take a sledgehammer to their government and start over.
  10. Rasheed attempted a rebound but tipped it instead I guess thinking he was on offense. The look on his face when he realized what he just did was priceless.
  11. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 9, 2010 -> 10:22 AM) a look at what to do with greece: http://baselinescenario.com/2010/04/06/gre...-an-imf-rescue/ my vote: they should default and leave the eurozone It's not that easy for Greece (or any European country for that matter) to leave the EU.
  12. I know we have a bunch of average and below average players in the lineup, but even the bad ones are hitting like 100 points below what they should.
  13. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 09:19 PM) Were those the same conversations where we were told to not even argue, as they were just bluffing about the DH by committee. Yes, those comments, and the ones about where Kotsay would be hitting, etc. Ozzie would never doing anything stupid like batting Vizquel leadoff, that's just Ozzie talking...
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 09:15 PM) Wise had no business being booed. It wasn't his idea to lead off, but Ozzie mentioned Vizquel leading off when he was signed, and I think most of us thought he was just talking. Evidently not. You can't blame him for the team having one hit in 8 innings, but a almost automatic out leading off is another of Ozzie's very questionable decisions that if you disagree with you should go watch the Cubs. I remember this being argued about, people saying these decisions weren't going to matter... yeah...
  15. QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) I'd love for Rios to break it up. That would be awesome, lol
  16. Yeah I remember reading that Hudson article this morning, I was just like come on. The reason Dye doesn't have a deal is because he turned down offers (overestimated his market value apparently and his $11 mil tag before FA is irrelevant), and was reluctant to play DH... plus teams know he is excruciatingly bad in the field, and they've also seen him bomb in the second half of 2009, fall off in September '08, and have a pretty average 2007 following a career. He's not exactly a sure thing. I would've loved to have him here as a DH or something but that wasn't going to happen.
  17. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 07:55 PM) High pitch count, and he's gotten away with some miserable pitches. One of the reasons they've hit well against our starters is because the stuff they were seeing was mediocre. Our relievers dominated them last night. High pitch count yes, but I wouldn't say this game is out of control for him right now.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 07:51 PM) Gavin's not long for this game. ? I'm not watching the game but he's throwing mostly strikes. So he gave up a couple of runs...? The Jays are hitting, that's just what's up right now.
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 07:37 PM) Well, I'm at the airport posting on my iPad and the airport WiFi signal is working just dandy! I don't care what you guys say; this is the perfect device for the airport...I have several movies downloaded, some books downloaded, and plenty of battery life to boot! I read a review of it on Slate and the reviewer up front said "you don't need this device but when you see it you're really gonna want it."
  20. QUOTE (flippedoutpunk @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) ***Off-Topic*** I hate people that say Apple users are a bunch of sheep trying to get in with the trend. I totally resent that.. When i think of that statement, I TOTALLY think something like Chicago Cubs.. You have a nice shiny product being sold in a nice shiny area, everyone talks about it, its trendy, but in the end its a totally INFERIOR product. That is not apple by any means because the product is in no way, shape or form inferior. When i switched from PC to Apple 2 years ago (after nearly 17 years of Windows use) i was literally blown away by how much easier it was to use and the peace of mind of knowing how hard it is to get a virus on the friggin thing and my macbook is still ticking two years later after heavy usage and tons of pr0n sites and accidental clicks onto shady looking web links. I used to be an android user, with the G1 and then the HTC myTouch. And i truly loved it. But then i saw these people with their fancy iphone 3GS and i thought wats the big deal, but then i saw them access apps at lightning speeds and text people with an ultra-responsive keyboard. My touchscreen keyboard on myTouch always seemed to have some lag when typing on it, and the processor suddenly seemed weak compared to the iPhone.. So i decided why not own the iPhone since its clearly the quality product. And then once i found out about jailbreaking the iphone and doing things that make it 100 times better than what is actually is, well, that was just the icing on the Apple cake I had a G1 until just last week actually. The thing to remember is, the G1 was the first of its kind, so it's also the one with the weakest hardware. The significant thing about the G1 wasn't so much the phone itself, but showing what Android could do and that it could be the next big thing. I have a Motorola Cliq now (another Android phone) and it's much faster than the G1, and has more built-in features, etc. I've never actually used an iPhone but after using the Cliq, and knowing there are other, more powerful phones than it, I feel confident in saying its speed is comparable to the iPhone. I prefer qwerty keyboards though FWIW. Call me old-fashioned.
  21. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) Are you referring to Wrigley or the Cell? Because The Cell actually did this 100% right. Its right next to one El stop, 3 blocks from another, and squeezed between two Metra-used rail lines where we are now going to get a Metra stop. I'm not sure another ballpark in the country has this as good as we do. I do agree with the overall point though about eschewing a neighborhood type design being stupid. There were alternate plans out there to really develop the neighborhood along with the park, but they were rejected for cost. It's relatively easy to get to Yankee Stadium on the subway FWIW, although there's no commuter rail like the Metra that I know of. Camden Yards has light rail and commuter rail though, sometimes I take that instead of driving.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 06:55 PM) I wasn't in the game thread last night, but I think people are being misunderstood. Obviously we don't know the whole picture, but I don't think the questions over whether he's hurt or something is wrong is misplaced. Lower velocity and lack of control are usually a sign of that. Jake isn't just missing right now, he's missing by a lot. He misses huge at least once every at bat. Yeah, there is a difference between saying "wow, Peavy looks awful tonight, what's wrong with him?" and going "OMG we have 3 more years of this loser, what a terrible trade we're f***ED"
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 13, 2010 -> 06:53 PM) Oh I wasn't talking about its location, I was talking about its theme and management! Haha. Touche. Especially if you've ever met Amber (the one who'll be managing it all).
