lol I really don't ever want to hear about how so and so broke the rules, the Republicans abused the hell out of the rules when they were in the majority, they'd either make unprecedented changes to blatantly work only for them or they'd just outright ignore them. Fact is, when you are in the minority life sucks for you, that's just how it is.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 11:49 AM) First of all, Guantanamo was set up due to a supreme court decision in the first place. Bush was following the law. No one wants to remember that. Second, KSM is an enemy combatant according to the supreme court as well. Therefore, he does not belong in the civil UNITED STATES court system. He belongs in the military court system. You can't give the guy the same rights that you and I have. You just can't. You immediately cheapen the rights that we as citizens have to this piece of s***. Third, it sort of does matter that the military picked this guy up. This isn't a police action. I guess that's why we can't win any wars - we have to mirandize these guys, "just in case". We have to gather evidence, "just in case". Right? Why even have the notion that exists for turning this into a civil matter? It shouldn't be there. And then there were subsequent Supreme Court decisions that followed that seem to just not matter to some people.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 17, 2009 -> 09:35 AM) LOL, so you are saying that your belief is right because its right, but any other perspective HAS to be politics. There's actually an extensive argument in favor of doing it and the logic is kind of hard to argue, most arguments against seem to be based on raw emotion.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 03:44 PM) No. It only cost 160 to replace both windows. driver side and rear window. Thats actually a pretty good deal. Plus they cleaned her car. Which alone should win them sainthood. My wife's car is also a disgrace.

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 04:03 PM) Don't tell Coburn's patients that. After several thousand successful baby deliveries, I would think Idiot is a bit harsh, no. And giving Franken anything but incomplete is moot. That's kind of irrelevant to his career in the Senate, but I'm going solely off the asinine statements he makes all the time. Maybe he does that on purpose, I don't know.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) As you also recently read in Greenwald's book, the torture stuff is something he voted on as a Senator. I can't remember exactly how Greenwald framed it, but it was something along the lines of how he ended up voting on a measure that was so watered-down that it was worthless but he still claimed he was against torture and nobody called him on it. He got away with being able to claim several things actually.

QUOTE (JorgeFabregas @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) Why avoid judgments based on ideology? Creates an impasse and a worthless discussion

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 03:51 PM) Yeah McCain was awesome with his flip flop on torture. Eh McCain's got a long career behind him before doing that, and I wouldn't say it was a flip flop so much as a convenient sellout, which they all do out of necessity at some point or another. The 2008 McCain was a pretty bizarre thing to watch though, it was pretty much totally separate from his Senate career.

Mikulski is pretty solid for MD, she has a lot of seniority, and I'd say "good." Cardin is kind of anonymous IMO but not necessarily bad.
-
I don't disagree with that early list very much (posted while I was writing mine)
-
I like Durbin and I'd put him in "good." Dick Lugar is excellent. Taking politics out of the equation and going on straight honesty, Feingold is about as honest a guy as you can get. I don't know where that puts him. I hate Inhofe and Coburn with a passion and I'd be pretty embarrassed if I lived in OK. They are both, umm, how do I put this nicely... complete f***ing idiots.

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 03:30 PM) I refuse to accept that anyone can justify any player other than Andy Gonzalez as the worst Sox player of the decade. Hawk said he's really really talented though
-
I wasn't able to follow the first half of this decade closely (as fate would have it I started paying attention in earnest at the beginning of 2005) so my list isn't complete, but: 1. Andy Gonzalez 2. Brent Lillibridge 3. Jerry Owens 4. DeWayne Wise 5. Brian Anderson 6. Andrew Sisco 7. Lance Broadway (don't even know if he counts really) 8. Joe Borchard ...don't feel like coming up with 10

QUOTE (watchtower41 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 04:57 PM) People have always been super quick to dismiss on how big of a dick Joe was before he left. Anyone remember on how we was left off the playoff roster and then didn't even hang around or go to Tampa to watch the series or be a part of the team? How about the numerous requests for surgery, only to be ignored by Joe each and every time with the great advice he continued to trust Boras with. Crede signed with the Twins on purpose. There were other teams that were interested, but it didn't take long for Joe to decide that he would be most happy to sleep with the enemy. I'm quite sure he was happier than a pig eating s*** when he went deep in his first AB back at the Cell. Thanks for the memories, but screw you Joe Crede. You make it sound like Crede did all of that on purpose and the whole issue with the surgery was a cut-and-dry thing and Crede didn't care about his own health and career or something. I'm not mad at him for going to the Twins, not too many teams were jumping up and down at the idea of signing a broken-down Scott Boras client with an injury that nobody knew the extent that remained.

QUOTE (greg775 @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 03:00 PM) I'll make a list eventually. Please everybody don't ruin my Christmas and say DeWeezy. He was what he was. Last guy on a roster. I would probably put Lilly at top of the list so far. He doesn't seem to be able to hit a baseball. There probalby have been 10 worst than Lilly though. The last guy on the roster also was declared the starting CF and leadoff hitter on opening day, so... also Lillibridge was what he was too, a minor leaguer who was only on the major league roster because there was nobody else around. You can't just pick and choose like that because some guys you like and some you don't. A player who sucks is a player who sucks.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 02:54 PM) You better not say that. Oh wait, you're a mod. It's ok. lol. I had said I didn't care, we do that kind of stuff all the time.

god Coburn is such an asshole. Oklahoma has the 2 douchiest senators in the entire body.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 16, 2009 -> 12:02 PM) I don't think you can say 90% bad, 10% good. I think its a curve all the way down. A few truly clean, believers, in it for all the right reasons. The next bunch are mostly that, but compromise their constituents needs to often to stay in office. Then there are some who get into grey areas, legally and morally, to varying extents. Then there are the purely self-interested ones who may avoid true lawbreaking, but overall are just sucking the life out of the system to keep their jobs. Then there are the truly useless scumbags. What % of each? Who knows. And there are subtle differences in those groups as well. Its just not as simple as some of you are making it, because these are people. People are shades of grey, not black and white. That are not that many blatant lawbreakers, really. But those are the ones we remember.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 10:42 PM) Against the Lakers?! Are you kidding?! I thought they'd get blown out by the 2nd/3rd quarter. (ala Boston/Atlanta/Toronto etc..) talking about how obvious it was the Lakers were just half-stepping it and it was going to be made obvious in the 4th. -
QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 10:47 PM) Well, I don't feel like reading 28 pages soooo... The Sox wanted Pierre for years. The Sox got Pierre. They got him for 2/8mil. Not bad at all. So, he doesn't walk a lot and he has a noodle for an arm. I'm sure there are numerous comparisons between Pierre and Pods. Here's the difference...Pierre knows how to run the bases correctly. He's not going to get picked off nearly as much. And he's better in the outfield, even if his arm is noodle-y. I think it's an above average deal. Not fantastic, but workable and great for the money. I don't know where this comes from, I mean I guess he isn't a complete bonehead out there like Pods, but his percentages aren't a whole lot better.

The Bulls are so predictable. Of course they'd pretend to be in the game and then lose in the 4th -
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 06:03 PM) Some people are against this, and I dunno why. Lots of jobs + lots of money = good all around. I've heard people say this'll just give "them" more of a reason to attack us close to a metro area, but that just seems silly to me. Yeah it pretty much is. It's not like there are terrorists sitting around who were on the fence about a terrorist attack and now they're like "oh s*** let's go!"

lol, 150 miles east of Chicago, nice work.
-
Well there was a time when people actually thought he took his job as a senator seriously and that statement more or less applied.

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 02:29 PM) Lieberman: Liberal Enthusiasm Convinced Me To Oppose Medicare Buy-In lol, is he for real? That is probably the worst explanation I've ever heard.
