I drink at halftime during Bulls games too. I can't say I blame Artest. -
Losers don't have anything better to do, what do you expect?

QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 07:07 PM) Sounds like a helluva an ass. lol. The one in front bending over

Can this be done electronically?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 05:37 PM) Note this date, but I agree. And yesterday I wrote a positive, happy Facebook status, not too long before that I agreed with Y2HH in the Filibuster. Throw me in with the "any guy worth a s*** is going to want to start" crowd.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 02:01 PM) Yea, because I have EVER said that. We're just f***ing with you. For the record the difference between you and my brother is that the things you say and believe are intellectually defensible. At some point in his adult life my brother became a dittohead. He's the only one in the family and I can't save him. /facepalm

That is like a 2 1/2 negative isn't it?

Finding people who do not suck and would not be total failures, and do a better job than an aircraft carrier's previous captain who ran it aground.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 01:31 PM) Actually yes. That is why people leave the government for the private sector all of the time. You want a great example? Look at pretty much all of the groups regulating all of the individual pieces of the financial sector. They completely failed, and a large portion of that was people who don't have the skills or knowledge to do their jobs. I set my argument up terribly and allowed myself to get smacked down here. I could change up and pretend I was saying something else and act like you misunderstood me but that'd be dishonest. lol. My overall point was trying to tie into what NSS is saying. AIG's been badly mismanaged, so they can go cry me a river about 500k not being enough. And I have a hard time believing they will have such a hard time filling these positions and there aren't non-incompetent employees ready to step up.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 01:11 PM) There are plenty of people who work just as hard for minimum wage. Should we cut the governmental employee salaries too? You completely missed my point. Is the government lacking in specialized skills with demanding hours because they don't pay truckloads of bonuses?

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 01:00 PM) How many executives do you think could handle this job, seriously? And oh yeah, they have to be willing to work for $500,000 a year and very little bonus incentive. Anyone in their right mind is going to find employment somewhere they can make more money for themselves by multiples of total dollars. We are talking 10 X's or way more in many cases. You are seeing the exactly flight of quality that was warned about before. High-ranking government employees probably only make about 190k (give or take a couple dozen) and work just as hard if not harder. 14 hour days, etc.

Yeah on my dad's side of the family

My older brother had gone on a couple of annoying rants about how unemployed people don't deserve insurance coverage, it was the market at work, that they should all have jobs and they wouldn't have this problem etc. you know, the usual talking points about how everything's fine, and if someone can't afford insurance it's all their fault. Well a couple weeks ago he has an unforeseen medical emergency and stayed at the hospital several days and racked up medical bills, but guess who doesn't have insurance and now is buried in debt? Obviously I'm very relieved he's okay but he's been knocked off the high horse for a little while.

If I have my way, I'll be adding some jobs to the service sector

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Dec 6, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) The main stream media orgasming over the numbers being "so much better!!!!!!" droolz! Keep it in perspective, in the summer of 2008 they would do s*** like have a counter on the screen during coverage of the NYSE and asking if a full-blown collapse ala Black Tuesday was imminent. Now it's just in the other direction. That's just what they do.

So I was out partying this weekend. I have a friend with a really big booty whose ass I tried to slap. I tried to a quick upward strike with an open hand from behind her... that failed miserably, I damn near sprained my wrist and she didn't even feel it. That was the equivalent of a Jerry Owens swing on a Matt Thornton fastball. She told me I needed to go work on my technique, message noted. Next time it's going to be across the body with a cupped hand.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 03:57 PM) I think the better plan would have been to have been both short term AND long term addressed. Tax breaks in the short term that would add jobs - like house greening stuff and appliances (Cash for Clunkers was actually a good one). Also some of these quick construction jobs, but, ones that pay off longer term, like new bypasses and connector freeways that cut down travel times, etc. But at least half, or more, should have been investing in long term thinking. Engineering jobs created in alt energy, efficiency built up by improving rail transit, etc. Instead, we got a whole lot of re-paving roads that already exist, which is really not what we needed (or at least, not needed as much as other things). I'm really pissed that the useless road construction money didn't go to help cities with capital improvements on mass transit instead. There isn't any one person to blame for that so I'll just blame Congress collectively.

Slate recently had a Write Like Sarah Palin contest. This one in particular is so full of win:

QUOTE (jasonxctf @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 01:10 PM) its funny how people have no idea on how the legislative process works either. i swear, probably 40% of the people in this country probably think that the President makes the laws. When Pelosi dealt with the CIA drama earlier in the summer I saw someone ask why Obama didn't have the balls to fire her.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 12:21 PM) I agree...I do wonder where they get the names though. The major names (Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom, etc.) are mostly picked for PR purposes so it's going to be someone off the NSC if not the president himself. The other names probably come from the major command's staff of whoever's responsible for the operation. I don't know how exactly they get the names, I think they have a generic list actually and they just go down the line.

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 11:09 AM) My cousin was part of Operation Anaconda. I wanted to go to Afghanistan when that was going on so bad. Phantom Fury is still a cooler name than Anaconda

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 4, 2009 -> 11:27 AM) This article is about Afghanistan and Pakistan. Pretty good read. http://www.thenation.com/doc/20091207/scahill Well it's not a SECRET anymore... f***ing hell I hate it so much when people leak classified information or ongoing sensitive operations to the media on condition of anonymity. People should be sent to prison for that.

In response to the idea that the Taliban would "lay low" for the 18 months between now and July '11 Gates said something to the effect that "it would be terrific if they did that" because of all the things the U.S. military could get accomplished by not being in combat. In reality I don't even think that's realistic, they say that like the Taliban can make an arbitrary choice between being defeated and not being defeated out of convenience?
