White Sox acquire Juan Pierre
Man I swear every time the subject of potential leadoff hitters comes up, some people act like it's easy to acquire a speedy player with a career OBP of .390 and SLG of over .400, and they're just sitting around waiting for someone to sign/trade cheaply for them but the Sox are totally blowing it by sitting on their asses every year.

What is a practical and perfect # of kids to have?
QUOTE (BearSox @ Dec 15, 2009 -> 12:21 AM) First and foremost, I believe it depends on your financial situation. If you can barely get by without kids, no reason to have a kid. Kids are extremely expensive. Hopefully though I become financially sound and have at least 4 and the maximum being 7 or 8. Im old fashioned and want a big family. Coming from a decent sized family (4 siblings), I found growing up with siblings to be beneficial. In all reality, I only lived with 2 siblings and the oldest two were already in college by the time I was old enough to care. I dont know, it all depends on what floats your boat. Plus, once Im old and retired, I want grand kids to keep me occupied. Boy, aren't they ever. Although I don't mind spending a lot of money on him for Christmas

Man can have technology, but cannot truly master it
Yeah, for as much as they surprise you with what they know, kids still really aren't that bright. At that age most of what you have to do is figure out how to limit the # of stupid things they can do.

The Republican Thread
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 12:42 PM) Socialism is not the same as having programs for those in actual need. I think that is just being civilized. It's easy to play the game you're playing here, so I won't feed the beast. But no, social programs != socialism. I'm not playing a game, I was trying to make a point and I think you got it. That line that 2k5 mentioned is intentionally blurred all the time for political reasons and it gets old after a while.

Official 2009-2010 NFL Thread
QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 11:30 PM) Yep not a shock, it is December after all. Nick Folk is done as our kicker, Buehler should take over this week. As for Wade Phillips, well his job is probably hanging by a thread right now. Doesn't get any easier with a trip to play the Saints next w/e. He's cool with me for no other reason than the fact that his name almost spells Buehrle.

My friend who is otherwise very attractive when she goes out put on way too much makeup and managed to make herself look like a cheap tranny.

Packers with 3 penalties so far, Bears with 9. Typical snapshot of the team's overall discipline compared to their opponents this year.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) Well the Sox players and administration are off limits because there are people in the organization who read this board and it makes sense that Jason and others would want to keep statements like that off of here. Attacks towards each other leads to degradation of the board. Attacks towards political figures, world leaders, etc have never really been off limits, nor should they. If I called Kim Jong Il a piece of s*** I shouldnt have to be worried about being banned for it, IMO. Warning sent. Stay off my leader.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 11:05 AM) I just find the rules on this site to be confusing. Replace Harry Reid in the statement he made with a Sox player, a member of this site, a religious figure, etc and most people would get banned in here. Different rules for Admins? The "It's my house and the rules don't apply to me" attitude don't sit well with me. When's the last time I suspended someone for that? I let stuff like that ride all the time. As long as it isn't slanderous, libelous, or just plain obnoxious to everyone else I don't really care what people say about public figures.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 10:31 AM) Doesn't mean I have to like it. I guess I could as easily say there are hundreds of reasons why the world gets polluted...so meh, that's just the way it is...let's ignore it. That's just the way human nature works. I get what you're saying, it's just that it's stopped bothering me so much lately.

Healthcare reform
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 9, 2009 -> 10:07 AM) ...to add to this. I say this because they outright show it. They run on Platform A, which says if X happens, we need to do Y. The people agree...the people vote for that person, but then when that persons in office and X happens, they do Z instead. There is no accountability in the government anymore. There was a time that if you ran on Platform A but got elected and enacted Platform B, there would have been hell to pay...now it doesn't even matter. People have such short term memories, you can say whatever you want while campaigning and just do whatever you want after you win. There's like a dozen different reasons that happens, frankly that's just the way politics works.
