QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 08:23 AM) How does Thome not get comp? I think it has something to do with the fact that he was traded.

Fitting Ending to 2009 Season
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 09:49 PM) Quite a few. Why do you guys call him a butcher in right field for "several years now." Nationally Dye does NOT have this tag. I'm not talking about the second half of this season when he was bad out there. I'm talking about his other seasons with the Sox. He was serviceable out there. I honestly don't get where you are coming from with this s*** about how he has been AWFUL in right for several years. Take a deep breath and realize the country does not share this opinion of Dye with you. I'm not talking about this year's second half. Some of you act like Dye is a stiff; he was a f***ing stud with our team. Yes, greg, he does have this tag. It's not like it's a secret, it's not a myth people created on Soxtalk. He's been my favorite player since 2006 but really there is no way to justify his bad defense. Do you ever watch him play in person? He's incredibly slow and barely covers any ground.

I feel kind of bad for Rodgers, when he isn't getting the s*** kicked out of him he looks so shell-shocked that he hasn't been hit that he's not sure what to do.

Favre has enough time to rub one off back there before every throw. A freshman college QB could succeed in this situation.

Dye says "I don't really have a feeling"
QUOTE (greg775 @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 09:46 PM) Then please also start threads on Dotel, Liney, Rios, Pods (to discuss his baserunning), Cox and his great calls at third base, Lexi (for his first half), Mark (for his post perfect game performance), Bobby (for his six blown saves and 'soft' saves as one poster put it, Castro, Randy Williams. Thank you. Do you read this board?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 04:15 PM) Thank god they managed to sign Briggs a few years ago and didn't rely on Williams. Briggs overplayed his hand back then. That was a pretty textbook example of the super-agent costing his client money (Bears offer he ended up signing was less guaranteed $$ than the original extension they offered).

Holy s*** this broadcast is f***ing sickening. I have to watch with the game on mute. If they wanted to air a 2 1/2 hour special on Brett Favre they should've done that. How about commenting on Peterson and not talking about Favre when the Packers have the ball? Jesus. They talked about Favre's "eye discipline" at one point.

QUOTE (knightni @ Oct 4, 2009 -> 07:38 PM) The only problem is, that Wolfe has never shown the ability on the NFL level to be able to get around the corner while going east to west. Turner never calls plays for him to do that.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Oct 4, 2009 -> 06:10 PM) Quit b****ing. 3-1 into the bye. We have to go 3-1 in these next 4 games (@ ATL, @ CIN, CLE, ARZ). Who's b****ing, the Bears just won by 3 touchdowns. Up until halftime the b****ing was warranted.

The 2009 second half Bears might be the best team in the NFL.

This defense is abysmal but so far as per the trend this year, they've come out looking a lot different in the 2nd half.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 09:18 PM) I didn't think the green was necessary, but I was being sarcastic. But it seems like that's the argument for not wanting the Olympics. lol don't worry I def. picked up the sarcasm.

QUOTE (Tex @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 02:20 PM) Did your wife work out a discount on the TV? Or do her powers of manipulation only work for tires? If she could have done that I would have definitely had her do it after the consensus on that status was "no it's not wrong, go do it." Max cleavage ftw.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 3, 2009 -> 10:30 AM) Eh, he still thinks that to this day. lol very true. I never broke a brand new TV though. I did many other things. Climb out the window and hang out of it, walk down railroad tracks, set quite a few things on fire and have only a couple that become uncontrollable blazes, destroy a hornet nest, etc.

I ordered a 52 inch flatscreen TV yesterday. Barely 5 minutes after I got it delivered my stepdaughter took my son and climbed into the outer box and started rocking it like an idiot in a boat. She predictably loses control of it and falls over, and knocks over the TV that was sitting vertically on the floor because I hadn't taken it out of the box yet. Fortunately the TV still works but what the f*** was she thinking?

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 07:09 PM) So you ignored the post about go finding a board with greenbay fans.. That wasn't telling him to get lost, it was saying that's what he has to do if he wants to go somewhere that Bears fans won't be hard on the Packers.

Official 2009-2010 NFL Thread
Actually I didn't see any non-Bears fans discouraging posts from other fans, Poster A took issue with the fact that his team was being slighted, Poster B wrote later that this is the "NFL" thread and Poster C wrote that it was still composed primarily of Bears fans so obviously you're going to see more Bears talk than anything else.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 03:08 PM) Weekly Standard brags and then deletes post saying that their office erupted in cheers when Chicago lost. This is starting to piss me off actually, the more comments I read cheering Obama's failure (and it exists only in their minds, I don't see how a head of state trying to use influence against other heads of state to get something for America is a bad thing) the more I realize they're willing to take it a step farther than just dissing Obama, they're dissing Chicago, and America. They're so hung up on the fact that something happened that didn't make him look good that they don't even realize it wasn't a good thing for the country, using their own criteria, that they will openly mock the effort or the concept. Furthermore this talk about "the world" getting tired of Obama's ego makes no sense at all to anyone that reads non-American, non-English media and knows what the various opinions actually are.

QUOTE (daa84 @ Oct 2, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) yeah sounds like damage control to me I actually am not really sure this is anti-americanism....when news first broke of chicago making the final 4, we were the CLEAR longshot supposedly...we heard all the rumors that chicago gained ground and that it was between chicago and rio but IMO that was probably just spin from local media to make this a bigger story...i think its likely that we were never really a front runner in this thing Shouldn't even need to be damage control, the whole "political risk" angle is dumb and shouldn't even be talked about really.
