QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 08:59 PM) Cutler needs to relax and let the game come to him. He is trying to force it now. He does that, that's the kind of QB he is. The WRs really aren't giving him much help right now though. Collinsworth is saying on the INT that Clark basically quit on the route.
-
3 straight s*** throws by Cutler that touched a Packer DB. The first one was excusable because the DB held the s*** out of Bennett. The second time Bennett ran the wrong route. The third was the INT and it was just a s*** throw.

Has a KW mid-season move backfired more than Rios?

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 06:24 PM) KW was expecting him to be ready to go by the beginning of this month. He wasn't...I stressed 2009 in my comment for a reason. The reason for that has nothing to do with the injury Peavy had at the time he was acquired. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 02:58 PM) Come on Cleveland... Let's put a big hole in this Farve crap right away.

Flacco's had a lot of luck today with some of the s*** throws he's made. Until just now.

QUOTE (Palehosefan @ Sep 13, 2009 -> 02:03 PM) Looks like Crabtree is going to sit out the year and re-enter the draft next year. What a jackass. That's what happens when you have Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin etc as "advisers". He's not going to be picked in the first round. He's going to cost himself several million.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 11:21 PM) If that is the case, the estimates for Taste of Chicago are about a factor of 10 too high, because that's about how many people get called a million for the fireworks. That's a little different because we're talking some more open space around Grant Park and such. How many were there for Obama's acceptance speech? A couple hundred thousand wasn't it?

Having been to Inauguration Day I can say that unless you're looking at a satellite image you really can't get 1-1.5 million people in one shot. DC was basically shut down for Inauguration Day. Was the Mall full?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 05:59 PM) fake naivety on my part. Most people have literally no understanding of Marxism, communism, socialism, nazism, Stalinism, 20/19/18/17th etc century history, capitalism/ modern economics or most other crap politicians emotionally play games with. "More czars than the USSR!" I recently had someone try to argue to me that the October Revolution put Marx into power with a socialist system first and then Lenin came along a while latter to install communism (socialism->communism slippery slope). Man that is funny as s***. The communists KILLED the czar. I think I learned that in 6th grade.

QUOTE (mr_genius @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 03:42 PM) haha, did you challenge? I don't actually post there, I just read. Maybe I should post there because there is an echo chamber effect (not as bad as Dailykos but it's still there). They would probably think I was a Freerepublic troll though.

I was reading Huffpo comments yesterday and I had no idea there were so many Truthers on that site. They get hostile if you challenge them too. edit: whoops, I thought I posted this in the Dem thread.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 01:26 PM) Not really. The House yes. Senate not so much.

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 12:41 AM) Here is an accurate depiction of Kenny after he signed Linebrink to a 4 year deal. You're on fire. -
As if an air traffic controller wasn't already a b**** of a job to have, imagine being one at about 10 am that morning and you needed to get ALL your planes down, somewhere, anywhere, RIGHT NOW. I would want to kill myself.

Last year MSNBC re-aired their coverage from that day. I was watching CNN's coverage in 2001 but it was really eerie seeing that. I could remember specific thoughts I was having at specific times, or where I was going, who I was talking to.

QUOTE (DukeNukeEm @ Sep 12, 2009 -> 12:07 AM) Sosa ahead of Payton?!!! Yeah wtf? Payton is a deity in Chicago. I get all the stuff Sosa did but come on...? And where's Mike Singletary? Sure limited space and all. But that's pretty glaring.

QUOTE (SouthsideDon48 @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 11:03 PM) Honestly, though, I always saw the Rios acquistion as a move to shore up the team for the 2010 season. So I have no problem putting up with Rios' inconsistency this season because of that. Yeah, this season is really a wash. I'll reserve my judgment until about the All-Star break next year. Rios definitely has sucked but I'm not about to get all bent out of shape about it yet. -
QUOTE (Cubano @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 10:48 PM) A little Cuban history. Native Cubans (Tainos, Siboneyes) inhabited the island. Then, the Spaniards came. Unlike the indians in Central America, North America and South America, the indians in the Caribbean were weaker as a race and were not as many as in other parts. They were very susceptible to illnesses combined with their small populations and hard labor, they were extinct quickly. The Spaniards who claim they discovered the new world, but the new world was already there brought Spanish names and last names. They also brought the Spanish guitar. The Spaniards brought the slaves from Africa and their drums when no more indians were available. That is our West-African influence. Spanish guitar plus drum = Son Cubano or Cuban Salsa which is the original. That Salsa name was given to Cuban music by Latinos in New York. Going back to the history. Some Americans came to Cuba. Some Chinese came to Cuba. Some Haitians came to Cuba. Some Jamaicans came to Cuba. Some Russians (not many) came to Cuba. Haitians and Jamaicans came looking for better opportunities before the Cuban Taliban Castro stole power. Then, you have Leslie Anderson, Alexei Bell, Alfredo Despaigne, Aroldis Chapman, Michel Gorguet, Kenen Bailly, Pedro Poll, etc. Most of these Haitians and Jamaicans descendants are located in the east part of Cuba. Guantanamo, Santiago de Cuba, Granma, Holguin... I hope this help. Thanks Cubano.

QUOTE (qwerty @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 03:58 PM) Only a moron would truly think hawk is a moron. You do not have to like him for what he is, but he knows the damn game as well, if not better than 99.9 percent of the population, and i would easily stand by that. He's not a moron but he talks out of his ass a LOT, I think he just likes hearing himself talk.

QUOTE (hogan873 @ Sep 11, 2009 -> 09:27 AM) I too am surprised that more isn't made of 9/11. I don't necessarily think that it needs to be a holiday, but you don't hear as much as you'd think. I imagine 9/11/11 will be a big deal, being the 10th anniversary. My oldest daughter was 2 weeks old when 9/11 happened. Last year we were watching the special on the History Channel, and she kept saying she can't believe that actually happened. I still feel the same way. It was something so horrible and intense that we tend to almost think it was a movie...maybe to deal with the fact that something so terrible can actually happen. It's cuz it was 8 years ago now, it's not that people don't care. Ask an 85-year old (one who is still alert and has a sharp memory obviously) where they were and what they were doing on 12/7/41. I bet you they can tell you where they were and what they were doing the same way we can.

I'm curious how Cubans have these non-Latin names like Anderson or Chapman? I can understand the Russian-sounding names like Alexei but not these Anglo-type names.

Yeah so umm guys you know there is already a 100 page thread on the healthcare debate itself FYI

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 10, 2009 -> 11:55 PM) Well...the Bears want to beat the Steelers, they're going to need to hit Roethlisberger a lot more than that. Ben really just seems unaffected by having the s*** beat out of him. He is probably the only QB in the NFL that can withstand that.
