QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 26, 2009 -> 03:19 PM) I saw Cindy Sheenan was back as well. I guess she isn't lead copy now that she is protesting Obama. Cindy Sheehan got into the news at a time when I was the most pissed off at Bush and I was on her side at first, but after a while she got embarrassing.

I heard about this last night. I knew he didn't have much time left but I didn't know it was imminent. RIP.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 10:56 PM) You and your 50 year old jokes, speaking of smelling like pork. It's a lame ass joke, but I like it.
-
Q: What's green and smells like pork? A: Kermit the Frog's finger.

QUOTE (kapkomet @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 10:03 PM) You're so quick to believe what you want to where any of this stuff is concerned. There's still a lot of junk not released and who the heck knows when it will be. This is why I said the status quo hasn't changed though. The right will say "see!" and the left will say "see!" The document is ambiguous as hell.

Really interesting study on how we support our false beliefs

Good thing nobody took me up on my bet. Not like I would've paid anyway. -

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 08:02 PM) more access to inaccurate or disinformation makes them dumber. Also, you run the risk of getting into echo chambers full of confirmation bias where your ideas are only supported and never challenged. The Series of Tubes makes it easier to find like-minded idiots. This is both a blessing and a curse. Kind of like free speech itself. -
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 06:08 PM) I use DVD Cloner to rip dvd's as well as Vuze to convert files to HD for my PS3 as well as IPOD compatible files. I stream it all wirelessly through an old G router with WEP. Drive down madison and I bet you can find my network... You don't have issues with copy protection using DVD cloner? I see it's cheaper than AnyDVD, they have their price in euros and that is really a b****. That'll be a last resort if I have to.

5 bucks says kap forgets he made that post and never follows up -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) Proved 1 thing...they didn't contain the proof Dick Cheney said they contained. I already knew Cheney was talking out of his ass though. That's just a sunk cost whenever his name is brought up, factored into the equation already.

Those documents didn't prove or disprove anything. Status quo remains.

A vet WR, even an aging one like Harrison, is a perfect fit for this offense right now.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 03:34 PM) That's much less dramatic and intriguing. You way would make for a very boring movie. Script: Y2HH: Hey can I use your internet? lostfan: yes Y2HH: What's your key? lostfan: (gives key) Y2HH: Thanks. THE END

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 03:20 PM) Can't argue that. But what I will do is crawl beneath your house, drill into the floor, use a spy pen camera to locate where your computer room is and where the wires are...drill beneath that, cut into the wire and hax you. I will then post mean things about people on Soxtalk as you, especially Lostfan. Or you could just be like "hey can I use your internet"

I don't know that they ever actually came out and said it. There was a LOT of innuendo though. -
Wireless >>> wires if you can manage it, especially wireless N. I didn't have any problems at my old place since they were only like 30 feet apart, but my newer place has too many walls and floors.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 03:14 PM) You can use DVDecrypter (I think this is free, but it's older and has problems with newer DVD encryption methods, or you can get (http://www.slysoft.com/en/anydvd.html) AnyDVD, which will only run for 20 something days before you need to buy a license... If you get either of these, what you will do is decrypt the DVD (it will save it decrypted onto your hard drive), then use Handbreak to encode it to a decrypted DVD file you can create DVD's out of. I thought about buying AnyDVD, but I figured I'd ask around first. Can you make a .mp4 or .avi out of a decrypted file?

Yeah I was able to make a file or something but it was unusable. I might have to pay for a program that bypasses all that, I just have to find one.

The year 2002 is a good case study in "How Not to Use Intelligence," and the resulting decisions from it also happened to be some of the worst strategic plans I've ever heard of. It was like the whole thing was discussed in 5 minutes. -

I think the term for that is "confirmation bias." Which is probably a type of cognitive dissonance actually. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 25, 2009 -> 02:37 PM) Kinda like Obama's was the most liberal? There are times (most of the time really) where your attempts at tu quoque rebuttals fall flat but this one was pretty spot-on.
-
I still don't have a clue on how to rip DVDs. Copy protection, ugh. I want to archive my own s***, I don't see how that's unethical.

Cognitive dissonance -
Oh happy day. This is great news.

I might go ahead and buy a signal booster.
