THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 3, 2009 -> 08:12 PM) If they think scoring off this guy is tough. I wonder what happens tomorrow when we face Greinke. He is actually good. I'm actually more worried when I see we're going to face Harrisons than I am when I see we're going to face Hernandez, Holliday, etc.

Holy s***, almost a fantastic play by Nix, but Betemit couldn't hold on. Wow.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 3, 2009 -> 08:06 PM) No, I was impressed with his AB before the single. Ah, gotcha.

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 3, 2009 -> 08:03 PM) Another solid AB from Nix. Good to see. Did you already know he singled when you wrote this? I think your broadcast is a few seconds ahead of mine.

Vazquez used to dig in his nose a lot too.

The Nolan Ryan Debate Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:34 PM) So to you and everyone else, where exactly does Ryan rank in the all-time greats? I don't think anyone has said he is THE best of all-time, but one of the best. When we had the argument over whether Curt Schilling was a HoFer, I would put Ryan on about a level with him (note: I was a strong pro-Schilling supporter in that thread). Ryan had a s***-ton of strikeouts and his longevity is incomparable, and of course he has the 7 no-nos, but he wasn't always that good or dominant. But he doesn't compare to somebody like Maddux, or a healthy Pedro Martinez, hell if we assume Johan Santana keeps up his pace, I'd say he was better too.

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:52 PM) I'll be honest, I didn't even think of that. I feel foolish. I actually was about to mute the TV, but some of the commentary is comically bad.

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
It didn't look like Alexei touched the bag on that DP with the ball, that's actually kind of a pet peeve of mine that umpires never make players do that.

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:49 PM) It was Steve Phillips. I wonder if he still wonders why he's an ex-GM. Even by the standard that Hawk has set for nonsensical statements, that is a criminally stupid thing to say.

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:48 PM) I'm shocked that so many of you are listening to the TV broadcast, like you didn't see this coming? It gets no worse than ESPN's #1 baseball TV booth. I'm thoroughly enjoying my Farmer/DJ experience. I don't live in Chicago.

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:46 PM) Getz is hitting .347 leading off. Why does ESPN say the White Sox leadoff hitters are struggling? They said that again? Also, that was one hell of a throw by Quentin, a split second sooner and he might have actually nailed the runner.

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:36 PM) The guy got his life together. Why do we have to dwell on negative s***, like that? Do we need to tear everybody down? Really? I had no idea, I never remember hearing anything about that on ESPN.

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:29 PM) Why did Fields stop running? Yeah I was wondering that too, the ball had been in play a while and Fields is faster than that.

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:16 PM) A warning hasn't been issued yet...Alexei is really terrible so far. You don't have to have a warning to be ejected if the ump thinks it was deliberate.

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
Morgan just said he thinks Alexei should've gotten more consideration for ROY last year - while I appreciate the love for a Sox player, Ramirez was the runner-up to Evan Longoria, who is a motherf***ing beast. How much more "support" can you expect?

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:07 PM) The Dusty Baker school of managing. Rookie + lefty = cannot face lefties must need platoon. It's seriously starting to piss me off. Getz has no problem hitting lefties, and never has. Play him.

THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (MexSoxFan#1 @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:06 PM) Ozzie is a big pussy for not ordering Danks to drill someone. Holy s***, it's the first inning, you want to get the best pitcher on your team ejected in the first inning?
-
THE Chicago White Sox vs Texas Rangers
QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ May 3, 2009 -> 07:05 PM) So instead of running from 1st to 3rd, they will just say f*** it and go for home as well. Absolutely, why not. Also, why is Chris Getz not in the lineup? I think I'll be turning this game off soon.
