I feel bad for Willie since his natural position is 2B and he has been stellar there this season. Almost like he is being punished because Aaron sucks so bad this season. This team has always seemed hesitant to bring up offensive prospects while we rush pitchers to the majors. Crede rotted in the minors for a while but I really think it's Jeremy Reed time.

Here is the thing, I know Alomar starts alot still for some reason. When Olivo starts, I think he should be moved up in the order. Olivo has shown he is capable of putting together quality at bats and had a nice hard single to the opposite field off Greisinger and stole second last night. I think it's time we move Olivo up in the order when he plays and bat someone like Rowand 9th. Also, where is Gload!?!?!

Guess what, the Nick Berg execution has been nearly televised and is widely available on the Internet. I'm guessing it changed the travel plans of a number of Americans planning on going to Iraq. Perhaps capital punishment would be a better deterrent if we did the same.

Roy Jones Jr. finally gets knocked out:
DonkeyKongerko replied to CSF's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Tarver should have won the first fight but he gets sweet redemption with the KO of the judges' favorite Roy Jones Jr. -
Before this series, of the three pitchers we had to face I thought Silva would be the toughest. It will be hard for him to match the "performance" of Greisinger tonight though. I seriously think you could take any right handed pitcher with a fastball of at least 90mph and throw a 4-5 hitter against the White Sox if you threw every single pitch outside.

I don't know about Gload either but we are now the only major league team to give him more than 31 AB in a season. He has never really been given the chance that he deserves based on his minor league numbers and he's got the left-handed thing going for him right now. Here are his 2003 Charlotte numbers: Year Team Lg. Age Org. Avg G AB R H 2B 3B HR RBI SB CS BB SO HBP SH SF GDP SLG OBP OPS 2003 Charlotte IL 27 Chw .315 133 508 72 160 40 6 18 70 6 3 29 60 1 5 6 12 .524 .349 873 Less power than Paulie, more like Mientkiewicz. Doesn't strike out too much but doesn't walk much either. I haven't seen them race each other but I'm willing to bet he's faster than Paulie too. I'm sorry but Paulie is a decent player but he also represents all that is wrong with our big, slow, righthanded lineup.

You can tell the Sox are playing poorly when we start arguing about Kelly Dransfeldt vs. Willie Harris. Damn you Sox why do you have to lose now seven in a row vs. Minnesota?
-
Trade PK for pitching, then designate Gload as the full time first baseman and the next Doug Mientkiewicz.

Down the road, it could be a good thing that our offense slumps now because it gives KW/Ozzie an early opportunity to figure what this team needs in terms of grinders and left-handed hitters. We all know these guys can hit but they can also all be dominated any given night by any given right-handed pitcher. Ozzie sounded pretty pissed during the post-game conference and I don't think he will be as patient with these guys as Manuel was last year. KW also must realize now that maybe the manager was never the problem in the first place.

So far the Twins have yet to play a team above 500
DonkeyKongerko replied to maggsmaggs's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They played Anaheim before us. -
Grilli?

Marte might have got a bad call in there but the ump's zone was pretty small for both teams. Marte was awfully wild tonight and he really didn't show he deserved any borderline strikes the way he was throwing. He had Koch-esque wildness.

When was the last time the Sox actually added insurance runs to a narrow lead late in a ballgame? After we took the lead 2-1 the offense just started trying to pull the ball. If anyone watched the 8th inning, I don't think Rincon threw more than 3 pitches inside to our hitters the entire inning. Our RH batters have not proven to anybody that they can use the opposite field with any sort of consistency.

Ozzie realizing Ozzie-ball doesn't work when your team is slow as molasses.
-
Garland needs to show that he can stay mentally focused in later innings when he has a lead. He also needs to show that he can pitch against Cleveland.
-
I would be very happy if we finished at .500 on the road.

The title is better than the thread that popped up last year shortly after Neal Cotts started at Yankee Stadium.

This game was all Kong. The offense struggled and was not gonna do much but Paulie picked em all up.

PAUL f***ING KONERKO!!!!!!!!!

At least he threw strikes. Give me a 5th starter who is not afraid to throw strikes any time over Dan Wright. If anything Diaz probably threw too many strikes which is not as serious a problem as Dan Wright.
-
We better score 3 in the bottom of this inning cuz it's supposed to get nasty.
-
Twins did win 1-0 and it looks like we got some serious rain on the way.
-
3 homeruns this inning.
