YNOT Contest Begins(Cubs series)
DonkeyKongerko replied to DonkeyKongerko's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Juggernaut, for question 2 please pick Frank, Sosa, or tie. -
Just saw this on the wire. I think he is worth more than some of the retreads we have seen released so far this year. Still I don't know if we have room for another corner OF type guy but I always liked him. Any thoughts?

Soxheads you forgot the Tiebreaker. -
How about a new over/under game

Done. Get your answers in quickly. -
All I can say is have you ever counted a million things? Cuz I haven't. But I can guess if you counted many millions of votes by hand a thousand times you might get a thousand different results. If the difference is so small I don't think we will ever know who won the election.

Does it seem strange I would take Alou over Lee?

Here's how it works. Submit your answers to the ten question + tiebreaker before the first pitch of the Sox/Cubs series on Friday. Sorry this is a little late but we're still getting the kinks worked out. (If someone wants to make this sticky it would be appreciated). Every series there will be 10 questions totalling 30 points to be consistent. I will keep track of everyone's scores and give you guys averages and stuff as the season goes on. The highest point scorer each week will also get a "Win" and the lowest will get a "Loss". Everyone else will just keep their same record. The person with the best W-L record at the end of the season will be our champ. Tiebreaker will be based on your point averages. Here are the questions: ------------------------------------- 1) Who will win the series (CHW/CHC) (2 points)? 2) Who will hit more HRs, Corky, Frank, or tie (2 points)? 3) How many errors will the Sox make (4 points)? 4) How many runs (including unearned) will Buehrle give up (4 points)? 5) How many innings will Colon pitch (5 points)? 6) How many plate appearances will Konerko get (5 points)? 7) Who will lead the Sox in total bases (4 points)? 8) Will Koch get a save (Y/N) (2 points)? 9) Will the Sox steal a base (Y/N) (2 points)? 10) Who will have more RBIs, Lee, Ordonez, or tie (2 points)? Tiebreaker: How many K's will Sox batters total? ------------------------------------

Splits are nice and all but it's hard to watch the games we lost when we had so many chances to win.

Yeah those questions are good. The Errors and JM questions are very sox-specific . A question rotation would be great too so we get a nice variety. I like the sound of this. -

The way I've seen to score it is to assign points to questions. There are your 2 pt. questions like "Who will win the series?" or the yes/no questions. The range goes to about 4 or 5 point questions being the most difficult. The tie breaker asks for some estimate like attendance or total HR or K's for the series. Each series then there will be only one winner. Then I just have to keep track of how many wins each person has. -
How about a new over/under game

That sounds fun with teh right person running it. I would love to if I can figure out how they score it on CardsClubhouse and someone can write some good questions I will do it. EDIT: Actually the scoring is pretty simple I just didn't understand the notation. I wanna do this contest now and would love if someone help me set it up. -
I think it does a disservice to the "Off Topic" name. Perhaps "Inane Drawrings" would be a better place to put it.

I learned my lesson...and got LoDuca for Survivor league.

How about a new over/under game

I have a suggestion of a game only because it's stolen from cardsclubhouse.com. They have a contest called YNOT where a series of questions are asked about each series the Cardinals play. Here is a sample: THE ANSWERS......................... 1) Who will win the series? New York 2) Will Clemens win his 300th? Yes 3) Will Pujols be over .375 after Sunday? Yes 4) How many hits will Girardi have? 1 5) How many AB will Drew have? 8 6) How many innings will the Cardinal relievers throw? 6.2 7) How many times will Edmonds K? 3 8) Will Tino hit a HR? Yes 9) Which outfield will have the most total bases? New York 10) Which starters will pitch the most innings? New York Tiebreaker: Total number of HR for both teams 11 This is from the recent Yankees Cards series. Everybody submits their guesses before the series and then the scores and results are posted afterwards. This way you don't have to post a guess every single day. I'm not sure exactly how the scoring works but it can't be too complicated. -
OMG i just watched the HR on CBS version of gamecast. I hope it was as exciting for you guys.

Frank = Money

First take a piece of steel wool and rub the underside of the disc. Then take it back to the place u bought it and ask for your money back for buying this peice of s*** game. If you are lucky and the salesperson is not a little terd u can exchange it for a real baseball game like WSB2k3 or MVP.

omg asshat that e-lo pic is scary. plz take it off.

The way this season is going so far is really going to help him. I read somewhere that walks just aren't "sexy" to the Baseball Writers. Frank dominated this league for 7 years in a row last decade and put up some solid seasons in 1999 and 2000 as well. This year looks like '99 Thomas to me as long as he stays healthy all year should solidify him for 1st ballot HOF. The baseball-reference.com HOF indicators show him to be a lock by a number of their measures.

Does anyone else find this thread extremely humorous? Thanks wsc, keep them great posts coming.

I recommend building your own computer. I did it first when I was a junior in HS. This is because it is much easier to upgrade. Over the past 4 years I have basically built a new computer through upgrading parts of the old one. Actually most of the old one has now been made into a second computer. If building isn't your thing, I would say that 2-3 years is the longest a computer will last a heavy user these days.

And here's to the Olsen Twins having nice speedy 18th years of their lives.

Newspapers said he woke up with a stiff neck, definitely something I can relate to. Nothing to worry about here if he can go 5 innings like that.
-
Hey no he doesn't. At least not that I've noticed.

No. And I'm not being sarcastic.
