  1. Ok I forgot about the family part of his deal. I still wish he was our manager.
  2. The Herald says Miggy told the ump to "Call a strike" and Wegner told him to "Shut up."
  3. What if we had traded Carlos Lee + cash to Seattle for Borchard this offseason and got Lou Pinella to manage for the 2003 White Sox. He has the Tampa Bay Devil Rays at 21 wins right now. They have hung tough and always seem to come back late in games. Today they just pounded the Angels after falling behind early. Some people say managers don't make a difference but I have to disagree. All you have to do is look at the lineup, the starting rotation, and the bullpen of the Devil Rays to know that some guys can win you more ballgames from the bench. I guess my question is why doesn't our team have a real manager? You know like the managers you see on TV and on the commercials. They have stuff like "personality" and "leadership skills" instead of the ability to do the chicken routine and get tossed out of games on purpose. WHY DONT WE HAVE A REAL MANAGER???
  4. Soxtalk = my support group. I am still going to my seven games and will cheer proudly.
  5. Judging by this, KW should never make a "big deal" again. Almost all his small ones turn out to be the biggest success stories.
  6. I hope he realizes they probably aren't gonna win the series this year. Why doesn't he play for Oakland? Well I guess they can't afford it but I didn't know the Angels could.
  7. Twice as sweet for me as I recently got Wade Miller off waivers on my fantasy team. 9IP 1ER 2H 1BB 14SO(career high) :fyou Scrubbs
  8. It's part of making minorities not just equal but more equal. This is why the Sox organization prides itself on the JM/KW combo. This is also why they have been reluctant to fire the Krazy Korps. It scares me to think what hiring practices and punishments like this will do to this country.
  9. This might sound crazy but I think by the end of the year most of us will think Koch had a good season.
  10. The White Sox go into Cleveland looking to rebound from a 4 game losing streak mostly due to a sweep courtesy of the Yankees. At the time the team was 28-25 and only 2.5 games out of first place: 5/31/02: 7-0 L WP: Colon LP: Glover 6/01/02: 8-4 L WP: Baez LP: Ritchie 6/02/02: 4-3 L WP: Finley LP: Wright A 3 game sweep courtesy of the Tribe and the Sox would not climb above .500 until sometime in September I believe. I also remember that June 1st game being especially painful when Ritchie gave up 8 unearned runs in one inning. Anyways, here's to a better trip to the Mistake than last summer. Go Sox!!
  11. Depends where the ball is I think.
  12. We need a winning streak or something like 14 out of 15. The Angels and A's had their streaks last year. This means of course we have to win some series on the road. So far the Sox have shown me little sign of being able to do this. 4 game set coming up in Cleveland, this series is a must-win.
  13. Zero errors today. One error would have been enough to lose this one i think. Also thank Toronto for giving us some outs.
  14. After tonight's loss: "We stink," Magglio Ordonez said. Apparently Maggs is vying for team spokesman.
  15. The ball Carlos dropped prolly should have been played on the hop but I think he was trying to get Mark Buehrle out of some trouble there. I am madder at Graffanino doing his best (or worst) Jose Valentin impression on the bobbled double play ball. Then there's Joe Crede who's been making some great plays in the field but then somehow fails to touch the bag on a play in an important part of the game. If he touches that bag then there are 2 outs and no more runs would have scored that inning.
  16. Rick White = Dead Man Walking
  17. Royce Clayton went 0-for-3 today and is hitting .126 (15-for-119) since April 15. The slump has lowered his average from .375 to .198. Sadly, he's still the best option the Brewers have at shortstop.
  18. Carlos Lee is clutch. Everyone else is just a wannabe.
  19. Seems like every time Kelly pitches and I watch he goes 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 and then either ball 4 or hits the batter.
  20. I woke up this morning and this is the kind of crap I have to read. The Detroit Tigers get their first shutout in the season in their 47th game. The starting pitcher in his last start gave up 5 runs to the Cleveland Indians. When asked about their struggles Jerry Manuel says he is "somewhat concerned". Arrrrrrrrrrrgh wtf is wrong with this guy seriously!?!?! He has no emotion you could shoot him and he might be somewhat concerned. This team needs a wakeup call of all sorts and this is the guy who is supposedly leading the way. This guy makes me sick. Bring me the head of Jerry Manuel. :fyou
  21. Sounds like the ESPN feel good story of the year
  22. Well we can't expect every year to be an 80 win season
  23. I was just gonna mention these numbers when i saw this thread. Wasn't Damaso different last year?? Or has he always struggled against lefties. Boy this just flies in the face of JM/KW's love of the lefty-lefty matchup.
  24. I can't imagine KC letting us have Beltran unless it was a total ball-buster to our farm system. Believe or not KC actually believes they will contend for this division in the next couple years.
