Somewhere around 1998 Frank decided to think at the plate.
-
Uhh check your calendars guys, it's been almost 3 years since we've won A GAME IN OAKLAND... All I can say is thank god we aren't going to Anaheim this week.
-
Anyone else think JM stays up late every night wondering what the f*** he did in 2000 that made the team play so well without him having to any work?
-
Unlike basketball or hockey, apparently baseball executives felt that a team that won more games in a 162 game season didn't deserve a homefield advantage in the World Championship. I still think the '97 Indians probably would have won that series if they had been playing game 7 at Jacob's Field.

Man but the Cougars have torn it up for the last decade as part of the Marlins organization. The list of former Cougars who are now major leaguers is pretty impressive. Notables: Antonia Alfonseca Josh Beckett Joe Borowski AJ Burnett Luis Castillo Ryan Dempster Alex Gonzalez (the good one) Jimmy Haynes Charles Johnson Mark Kotsay Kevin Millar Vladimir Nunez Julio Ramirez (haha just a joke) Edgar Renteria Randy Winn Greg Zaun You could put together a halfway decent major league baseball team with this bunch... as long as Jerry Manuel wasn't managing them.

I think we all agree Jerry is a good baby sitter.
-
By this logic the manager has no effect on the on-field performance. From now on I will only hold JM responsible for poor substitutions and pitching matchups.
-
See I am thinking in the long term. I know we may win today or we may lose today (or it may rain). I want to win tomorrow and win more often than lose for a while instead of this .500 bullcrap. I have an undying desire for this team to succeed and I know success is more likely to come quicker if JM is forced out sooner. I mean don't we all agree this team is not going anywhere under JM? I don't think we need to have that argument again.
-
Great, Jerry can prolly ride out an extra month or two thanks to that.
-
I never root against the White Sox but I might make an exception for one game just so Kenny, Jerry, et. al can get embarassed on national television. I hope JM gets fired after tonight's game, how's that for a statement?

bobby valentine on replace koch tonight
DonkeyKongerko replied to baggio202's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Tom Gordon has just got his s*** together. If Koch is not injured, I expect him to pull it together soon too. Rick White could follow. Bullpens seem to work this way alot. Once one guy is stable, the other guys start to pitch with more confidence because they know there are some rocks in the bullpen that can help them out if they get the team in a jam. Damaso is getting back to midseason form and Wunsch and Glover have been excpetional. With Gordon back on track, there is also more time for Cooper and Kuysner (sp?) to work with our struggling guys. I have to say Flash really made a sudden turn after that homerun to Matthews in Baltimore. I think he was ready that night and something snapped after he blew that one. -
It's time to see how Joe Crede pulls out of his first big-time slump, not counting the time he first came up and was nervous.

I liked baseball tonight today. Bobby Valentine was talking about Joe McEwing of the Mets and Timo Perez and how they bring the team that "youthful energy". In 2000 players like Carlos and even Valentin, although he's older, gave this team some life. I think bringing up the hot hand in Harris who is very speedy can not hurt this lackadaisical team. Perhaps Aaron will have time to break down his swing a bit better in AAA as well. I expect both these players to contribute to the Sox this season at the Major League Level.

Wow, I was watching on pitch by pitch. So those two fly outs off of Koch were deep? Man I was gettin so anxious waiting for the stupid thing to update cuz I thought Koch was pitching to Chavez and nothing would happen.
-
Jeez 13th inning in Minnesota.
-
We could use his bat too. Tell him to suit up.
-
All I know is Mark Buehrle better not have three s***ty first innings in a row or he's is on the s*** list too.
-
He's gonna suck cuz Illini are gonna suck with no good players. The best years of Illini bball are behind us til the next Bill Self comes along. Past 3 years Illini have made Elite Eight, Sweet 16, and 2nd round in that order. Does that tell you what direction we are headed?
-
Yes it was his tallest midget of the season.
-
Wow Konerko just owns Barry Zito.
-
they face Boston 6 times, Baltimore 7 times, 4 in Minnesota, Toronto 3 times, Seattle 5 times and Oakland 7 times. An article on ESPN.com says they will contend for the rest of the year because the Twins and White Sox are "thin". I think we will find out whos thin after these next 30 days or so of baseball.
-
Jeez and to think a couple months ago none of us were even sure Esteban Loaiza would make it through Spring Training. Oh yeah another interesting fact: A White Sox pitcher has not been AL Player of the Week since '93. Blackjack.
-
I would be a fan of the Chicago White Sox and I would probably cheer for the players too. But I voted no because I would not really be a fan of the franchise if they won a championship for another city. I don't think I would be able to handle that.

I know he only pitched one game against the Mets but this Brandon Webb kid on Arizona looked pretty good. 7IP 3H 0R 0ER 1BB 10SO

Reportedly Rios and Hawkins had a "heated exchange".
