  1. I will not be surprised in a few years when Frank Thomas retires and writes a book about Jerry Manuel smoking weed in the clubhouse. The guy is a poster-child for stoners and I hate his "style".
  2. I'm worried because they are helping us dig a really deep hole in the AL Central to bury us in. I mean KC is supposed to be part of the AL Central pushovers that can boost our standings in a divison or wildcard race. Losing to them this much is unacceptable.
  3. He could improve our team speed.
  4. I think that echoes my sentiments exactly.
  5. Replay it looked like Rios was safe. Then again I don't think umpires really felt like stickin around much longer.
  6. Hehe, last year 11-1 Indians, this year 10-1 Royals. What's the difference besides 1 win?
  7. Tom Crean? or did you meam Cream?
  8. Surely the fact this game was not even broadcast in this area raises a few eyebrows. (but theres no eyebrow raised smiley)
  9. Cubs are .5 game out of first right now, if they somehow gain possession the trolls will come crawling out of the woodwork. Speaking of Memorial Day, Yankees fans always tell Red Sox fans early in the season, "It doesn't matter where you are on Memorial Day, it's where you are on Columbus Day." They have been right for the past 3 years.
  10. Time and time again it has been proven that Walt Hriniak is the only hitting coach that can help Frank Thomas. Plus Frank won't take hitting advice from anyone else.
  11. I was careful not to say Detroit. I meant everyone in the AL Central besides Detroit fans hate us. Detroit fans have a better team to hate: The Detroit Tigers.
  12. Yeah I almost forgot about that. What were we thinking when we allowed the film producers to portray our Good Guys as dirty, unshaven, cud chewing, bad guys. I also wonder if when people write a baseball movie and they need to find an antagonist team, that the White Sox are one of the first to come to mind. I wonder if it started with Dr. Dre et al. wearing Sox hats all the time. Ooooh does this mean its racial?
  13. I think the difference is that alot of the Cubs are mediocre players having career starts to their year. Alot of our White Sox are young players with tons of talent that are pressing too hard.
  14. Back to Carlos...I seem to remember him in his first two ABs seeing exactly 2 pitches and recording 2 outs for himself. Not exactly the patient hitter we saw at the end of 2002 and in spring training.
  15. I agree, our performance in Detroit was not even AL Central Championship quality. If we are going to win big games against Minnesota, we are going to have to be more efficient with RISP. I will say that I saw a few things in the past couple days that were of some promise. I believe Maggs stole a base in the series opener and we did execute a hit and run with Daubach on base and CLee at the plate today. The Hit & Run may just have been a result of JM trying to light a fire under Lee's ass. Wasn't our team supposed to work on baserunning this offseason? Magglio is capable of a 30-30 performance. I would be happy with just 20 steals from him. As I recall, Carlos used to be quite good at stealing bases himself. I can't speak for Rowand and I see Valentin getting thrown out alot because he gets bad jumps. I would say Graffy has been one of our most aggressive players on the base paths this year but one guy who is not a regular starter is not going to make the difference. Yeah and D'Angelo is slow. Either that or he really dogged it on that sac-fly in Cleveland that Milton Bradley threw him out by about 15 feet on. I'm not unhappy with D'Angelo because he is giving our 2-3-4-5 guys opportunities to knock in runs. Unfortunately they haven't really clicked yet. When JM first came to the White Sox he emphasized the National League style of ball. Now we have almost turned into the Oakland A's circa 1999-2000. We sit around and wait for the 3-run HR which hasn't been coming that much lately. I have to believe we have one of the slowest teams in all of MLB. All of our players that were fast maybe 2-3 years ago are not nearly as fast anymore. We are not the team of 2000 that put pressure on the opposing defenders every time we had runners on. This is just not how we are managed or suited to play anymore. The point is this team is not built around speed anymore. Slowly, JM and KW have put together a great hitting corps and a decent pitching staff this year. I can't say I want to see more steals when we can't run and more squeeze plays when we can't lay down a bunt.
  16. Now this is not your normal team rivalry. As I browse over on the Royals, Indians, or Twins message boards I read things about how much they hate all the players on our team. I'm talking they hate every single player on our roster. Royals fans say they like the Twins because at least the Twins have chemistry. Indians fans would rather have the Royals or Twins win the divison over the White Sox. Basically we are the bad guys of the AL Central even though we have only won one division title since 94. I guess I don't really mind because I tell myself everyone is just jealous of our team. I just wonder does our team really have bad clubhouse chemistry compared to these other teams? Or is it just a result of all the mouthing off our team has done in the past couple years?
  17. Bartolo seemed to have better control today. He was getting the hook over and quite a few strikeouts going 0-1, 0-2 on alot of batters.
  18. Yeah the Rockies would prolly have kept him if it wasn't for getting Charles Johnson signed and Bobby Estalella (who is tearin it up) back. I really like Sandy catchin the games for our studs Burly and Colon. He is just a great veteran presence and I think he can even teach a thing or two to our Miggy Olivo.
  19. And nowhere on the list of leading RBI men for our team will you find Thomas, Konerko, or especially Lee's name. This tells me things aren't clicking yet. Also interesting stat, we have been errorless in our 6 wins and made errors in each of our 4 losses.
  20. Esteban developed a changeup this offseason. This has added a new dimension to his pitching game where normally people were able to sit on his fastball I think. Also he pitched in Texas which tends to play like a bandbox. I always thought Loaiza had good stuff but this changeup allows him to have dominant outings going 3-4 times through a batting order without getting lit up.
  21. People I know with Dell Laptops have been very satisfied customers. The Inspiron is usually a top buy in PC Magazines.
  22. Our soldiers were pretty safe in Iraq. The mortality rate for a US soldier so far in Gulf War II has been lower than your likeliness of being killed in a car accident. As I'm sure most of the soldiers drive or ride in cars, they are probably better off in Iraq. Stay the hell away if you are journalist though. I read something like 10/600 journalists have died or something. That's a rate of like 1.67%!!
  23. Let's not forget how young Jon is, im not trying to make excuses but he has not had many years to develop a plan of attack in the minors or college. I just think he doesnt know whether to nibble or challenge when he should be doing a bit of both to keep hitters on guard. Just my 2 cents.
