  1. Alex Rodriguez hit his 300th career homerun a few days ago against the Angels. The Angels fan who ended up with the ball threw it back even while 5 buyers were approaching him and ARod had already pre-signed a jersey, bat, and ball to offer to whoever caught his ball. In contrast, Sammy Sosa hit his 500th career homerun two nights ago. The ball was caught by someone who wasn't really a huge Reds or Cubs fan (I think he was from St. Louis). The ball wasn't thrown back and he is refusing to give it back to Sosa. The fan is instead going to try and sell the ball at what will probably be a very high price. Poor Sammy...no ball. White Sox fan perspective: LMAO.
  2. I figure the opening week of baseball is for fans of the Cubs, Royals, Pirates and all the other non-contenders (except the Tigers). They have their chance to be in first place and they can see that little dash next to their record in the "Games Behind" column. Then they can all take their mental pictures and hold onto that memory through the months of what must be baseball drudgery to these pathetic franchises when the real teams start playing Major League Baseball. Perhaps my heart is too big, if it is a crime.
  3. Sure looked like a no doubter from Maggs, I'm guessing it was the wind and not a weak homerun.
  4. Nope its Burly mon today.
  5. I was under the misimpression that he was good at defense since about 2000. I think this started with him turning that 3-6-3 double play. We allowed quite a few baserunners that year and PK and Jose were turning that 3-6-3 like nobody's business. Well I guess that is where it started because Hawk would comment about it and say it was rare to have a 1B that talented at the play. Therefore the past 3 years I have been oblivious to PK's pathetic range and mediocre glove skills even though I always knew he was slow on the basepaths.
  6. I don't know about you guys but I certainly would notice a pathetic 3 game sweep to the Royals no matter what month it happened in. Perhaps it's more ridiculous coming from the mouth of one of our series goats. I understand he acts a team spokesman but it sounds alot like the s*** he was telling us last year when we started our 4 month slump in May/June 2002. Maybe he should start playing with half the enthusiasm with which he speaks.
  7. Ok I think after a few years we would begin to see the problem. Trading players hasnt helped yet. SSDP (Same s*** Different Players). Jerry Manuel is not just on the hot seat, there are flames comin out of his fukn ass. I think we all enjoyed his chicken pecking routine after the bad call on the check swing by Thomas. That's about the most fire you'll see out of Manuel though. Give me Bobby Valentine.
  8. Good to hear. These soxtalk.com boards are growing on me.
  9. We suck at f***in defense. WE should be winning this game 4-1 right now as I watch the 6th inning. And someone tell Gary Ward and all the Sox hitters what a curveball is.
  10. Jon Garland has always been a road warrior for us and also shown up for big games and given this team a lift. Don't overlook Jon Garland I have 100% confidence in him tomorrow. Go Sox
  11. Hopefully this team can take a page or 95 from that 2000 club and do what needs to be done here.
  12. GRAFFY fouls a bunt attempt with 2 strikes... Good Call
  13. I like Carlos Lee's at bat except for not shortening his swing after getting two strikes. A homerun does basically nothing for us in that situation. I think he hit that deep foul to left and got a little excited.
  14. How about some late inning excitement? Lord knows we had less than our share of comebacks last year.
  15. No I wish i were watching I only have like 50 channels but I was watching on ESPN Gameday which was working decently today for some reason.
  16. hahhaha Howry just gave up a two run shot to .... Rey Ordonez. Yes that Rey Ordonez. That just tied in the bottom of the 8th. We'll see what the Red Sox committee has in store for the 9th.
  17. It seems like everytime we face these pitchers or teams like the Royals, we bring our 'B' Game so the 'A' game can get some much needed rest. It was just a little disheartening to see it on Opening Day.
  18. Has martial law been declared yet?
  19. Brewers actually found a way to lose but yesterday was still a day of upsets.
  20. I have to say that seeing Frank thrown out at the plate brought back some memories.. bad memories. ::shudder:: But yeah we started out like this in 2000 and the team just took off as soon as we came home and got Comiskey rocking. It's an All Star Season and the last few All Star Hosts (minus the Brewers) have had some pretty good seasons. I look forward to good things starting with a little Colon cleansing on Wednesday.
  21. Well as far as Ascencio goes, I think we can do pretty well against Junk Ballers who can't throw a strike in 12 pitches. (Actually I know he turned it around but it's still fun to remember that)
