  1. Best way to check your current memory usage is to hit CTRL-ALT-DELETE and go to the performance tab. Physical memory there will be the RAM you installed so the total should be something like 786432 indicating 768MB. Your computer will almost always be doing some paging, the 'Commit Charge' total shows you the total memory your system has: virtual (page file) + RAM. If you wanna see what programs are draining the most memory, just head over to the processes tab. Firefox, for one, can consume alot of memory if you have a bunch of tabs open and extensions. I hate it for this reason, but it's still the best.
  2. del.icio.us and Digg both, I also stumbled upon CommonTimes.org the other day and found it a decent source for news. Other sites I haven't tried too much: reddit.com pligg.com If you're into porn, socialporn.com. You've probably seen this already, but for others there's a good list of Web 2.0 sites here. What about podcasts? Anybody else here listen to any?
  3. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jan 13, 2006 -> 01:41 AM) it makes sense like this: (for the visually impaired) the script in his signature reads, I'm guessing, my computer's information, or anyone's computer who is looking at his sig, such as the web browser, ip address, and internet service provider (isp), and then posts them in that graphic. I was expressing concern as to whether that information is seen by anyone else. glad I could help. The script can only let you see your own information. Visit danasoft.com for more info.
  4. Warning, unfunny Pokemon video follows: Nothing will ever beat "Jitterbug."
  5. Yeah, I got frustrated because it was so hard to get the game working behind a router for Internet play.
  6. I wonder if any other guys have gone from MLB rookie to the broadcast booth in such a short time.
  7. Action/Adventure: The Thin Red Line Comedy: Office Space Crime/Gangster: Pulp Fiction/Léon tie Drama: The Shawshank Redemption (I can't not watch it whenever I see it's on.) Epic/Historical: Lawrence of Arabia Horror: The Shining Musical: Les Miserables (Not the movie version but I like it too much) Sci Fi: Star Wars: A New Hope Romance: Can't Hardly Wait Western: Tombstone Foreign: Spirited Away
  8. Yeah, I've seen a number of cars with right-side steering in Japan and they all had the same pedal arrangment we are used to here. That's probably good for drivers since alot of the foot pressing becomes instinctual when you slam on the brakes or something.

    Oil PC

They really should have used mineral oil, or if they had the money, Fluorinert.
  10. Everett has seemingly vaulted his way to series MVP contention. Podsednik is another possibility or maybe Iguchi.
  11. Yeah I forgot to mention the home plate icon, but it's quite forgettable.
  12. Someone shrink that and get this site a favicon already. It's time for Soxtalk to enter the 21st century in icon technology.
  13. Some good news on the developer front: EA has some devkits and appears set to announce some titles for Revolution in the near future. It was probably inevitable considering EA wouldn't leave the Nintendo console market untapped. Still it's good to know some names are getting behind the Revolution. http://revolution.ign.com/articles/674/674617p1.html
  14. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 10, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) They probably used Dolby Headphone to encode that. Nope, they did not. And that's what's so cool about it. Dolby Headphone let's you hear 5.1 but this clip also lets you hear sounds above and below you which is closer to true 3D.
  15. Get a decent pair of headphones on, close your eyes, and listen to this.
  16. QUOTE(longshot7 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) Cora fouled off 14 consecutive pitches in an 18-pitch at-bat, resulting in a HR. The fact that it was against the Cubs makes it classic. I just watched that on MLB.tv after it was mentioned. Stoney was cracking me up during the whole thing. Everything he said during that AB should have been in green.
  17. The Straight Dude's Guide to 'Brokeback' Worth a read if you find yourself being dragged to this movie. The main reason being Anne Hathaway.
  18. February is the worst sports month for me. If it were 30-31 days, I probably would have killed myself a few years ago.
  19. QUOTE(White Sox Josh @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) What did you expect going into Jarhead? An action movie right? Not a straight up action flick but something along the lines of Full Metal Jacket. I read enough about the film beforehand to know that it was not going to be like that, but I watched it anyways. It's something I wish I had rented.
  20. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 9, 2006 -> 07:53 PM) I am going to get a LOT of crap for this, but I didnt like the new Harry Potter movie at all. The first 3 were good and pulled you in. This one, blah. It was good and very well done, but I didnt like it. I think i didnt like it because on my honeymoon we listened to it on CD while we were driving. The movie left a LOT out and some of it was some good stuff (I love the house elves!) I haven't read any of the books but I thought this movie was only better than the Chamber of Secrets. It was already a long ass movie, and it seemed like there was just too much material for them to cover.
  21. Beltin' Bo from Cicero, you can't buy a better nickname than that these days.
  22. Of the movies I saw, I thought Sin City was decent but grossly overrated. Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy was disappointing, and this is coming from a reader. Jarhead was yet another disappointment just because it had such a kickass trailer. I understand there are people here who will never like Brokeback Mountain and that's fine, but Heath Ledger should get some serious Oscar consideration for his performance.
