QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 18, 2005 -> 03:46 PM) Hopefully you guys can help with this one. We have a wired network of 3 computers in my house w/ a regular linksys router. Now, my dad would like to use his wireless internet card for his work computer that he uses. So is there something we can just plug into one of the ports of our regular router, so that he can get wireless internet for his computer? Is that what a hub is? Thanks for any help guys. Just use a regular network cable and connect that port to one of the ports on a wireless router. Don't connect it to the wireless router's uplink port if you want the computers to be able to see each other.

Whoa, MLB.com people. That login that was floatin' around that used to work but stopped working seems to be working again. Time to watch a s***load of highlight reels.

QUOTE(aboz56 @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) Curious as to what type of media you guys use: For me, I just stick to TY (Taiyo Yuden) and Verbatim for top quality burns. TY is supposedly really good for DVD players. I mostly just use DVDs for data backup so I just use some el cheapo brand.

Face it: Chicago now a White Sox town
DonkeyKongerko replied to Pierzynski 12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the 2 or 3 years AFTER you win a World Series are just as important as the year you win it. I look at the Angels and how much their fanbase and national recognition has grown in the few years since 2002. The moves Kenny is making combined with the continual revamping of the stadium and surrounding neighborhood image could win the Sox alot of fans in the "swing" voters of Chicago. It takes time but I'm a believer in the "if you build it (a dynasty), they will come." -
QUOTE(SnB @ Dec 16, 2005 -> 11:21 AM) I was compared to doug funnie yesterday by some random girl in my spanish final. Yep, welcome to my life. Does her last name happen to also be a condiment?

QUOTE(FGarcia34 @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 03:02 PM) This has been said for years that Joe Crede is the next superstar but its been over 5 years now and we are all still waiting for him to be what you say "one of the 5 best 3bs in the game". Also Blalock >>> Crede. However Garland and Crede >>> Blalock. Forgive my algebra but given: Blalock >>> Crede Garland + Crede >>> Blalock Are you saying that: Garland >>>>>> Blalock?

QUOTE(Steff @ Dec 15, 2005 -> 11:49 AM) It definitely isn't Quentin. The previews for next week show him tied to a bed attacked. The name of the episode is Quentin Costa so that was a clue also.

Wikipedia-raising more questions than answers
DonkeyKongerko replied to southsider2k5's topic in SLaM
I think a big reason that article wasn't noticed was because of the relative obscurity of that man's name. If those changes had been made to one of the Kennedy or conspiracy articles, they probably would have been reverted in an hour or two at most. Here's another article on Wikipedia with some comparisons to Britannica. -
Anyone else think we should keep 6 pitchers?

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Dec 14, 2005 -> 05:26 PM) Heres a thought. Who determined that a 5 man rotation was best? Who decided that 5 men was the be all end all set up for starting rotations in baseball? Why not 6? Maybe 6 man rotation will turn into the "new" thing in baseball. It's just hard to have 6 guys that are that good. Most teams have trouble getting even 5. You are basically trading starts from your 1-5 guys every time you start your 6th so he better be pretty damn good. -
The RAM upgrade is probably your best bet. If you're running Windows XP you probably have an NTFS filesystem so defragging won't have a huge effect anyways. Also is PC2100 the speed of your existing RAM in the system? If it's slower, then that's not the speed you want. Finally, there used to be this site by Blackviper which listed a ton of services XP runs by default that you can turn off safely. That site is gone but thankfully the same information is mirrored here. This should also free up a good chunk of RAM.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Dec 13, 2005 -> 12:40 PM) http://media.sports.ign.com/articles/675/675077/vids_1.html ESPN/MVP link up. The ESPN ticker thing seems cool for X-Box Live users. I also liked how the PBP announcer says "There's a drive to left" on the HR to right field.

Here comes Santa Claus, Here comes Santa Claus, Right down Santa Claus Lane, Vixen and Blitzen and all his reindeer Are pulling on the reins. Bells are ringing, children singing, All is merry and bright. Hang your stockings and say your prayers, 'Cause Santa Claus comes tonight.

Number 1 - Yes, if you have 300,000 files on your computer. Number 2 - Start->Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs. The Recycle Bin is also handy here for those pesky, hard to remove files.

Like robin said, it depends what is on the DVD. Some contain tons of extras and audio tracks that you can just leave out and get a very high quality movie burned onto a DVD-R. In my experience making legal backups of episode DVDs, they are usually of relatively poor quality already and should not be compressed too much. Usually you can make a preview video of some kind to see what kind of quality you will be getting.

The Everett comparison is probably pretty accurate.

There's no legal issue mentioning the name of a program that CAN decrypt and shrink DVDs. It's what you do with them that makes them illegal. I use regular Gordian Knot but AutoGK is probably alot simpler without the unnecessary options.
