  1. I wasn't paying that much attention, but Molina seemed less than impressive.
  2. QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 03:03 PM) Dunn looks smaller than last year, but not as small as that picture previously posted made him look Yep. I agree.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 02:30 PM) So, not a good swing, on a low pitch, and it goes to the warning track? Not a good pitch to swing at. I guess the swing itself was fine. Everyone knows that he has mad power.
  4. Viciedo golfs a low pitch to the warning track in left-center. Not a very good swing.
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 5, 2012 -> 02:17 PM) We beat Cleveland in a B game 5-2. Anyone have a summary or a box score?
  6. QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 4, 2012 -> 11:44 AM) Any chance he comes back to the Sox in a month? Anyone know his primary competition for making the 25 man roster?
  7. Saw Rose play good defense on Parker (actually, Parker was double teamed and trapped in a corner), which resulted in a turnover. This is not quite the road test that it should be without Ginobli.
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 26, 2012 -> 03:03 PM) Neither of those links work. And damn, you guy beat me to it w/ this thread. Crap. Fixed.
  9. For comparison's sake, this is what he looked like on September 27 and on White Sox photo day exactly one year ago:
  10. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 25, 2012 -> 11:44 AM) Wait, so he added 20 lbs of muscle and plans to lose it? It's not surprising that a writer who uses the phrase "remains to be one of the best outfielders" would compose a confusing blurb.
  11. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 24, 2012 -> 02:11 PM) cot Gregor ‏ @scotgregor Ventura on new #WhiteSox P Nestor Molina: "You see how athletic he is and you watch him go through his stuff and see how impressive he is" I'm not sure what the second half of that sentence means. I think it may mean "I haven't seen him pitch yet, but he looks great running drills."
  12. QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 23, 2012 -> 02:50 PM) Jenks is lucky he isn't paralyzed from the waist down. If the infection truly is in the spine he could be looking at osteomyelitis in his vertebrae. With a guy that size spinal fractures are a real possibility. Hopefully they caught the infection in time if not, he's screwed. He may not be able to stand upright let alone play baseball. If the infection got into his spinal fluid, he could die or just go into a coma. I would like to be his attorney if the bone spur was truly left partially excised. You can make the case of ruining a 10's of millions of dollars player. $$$$$$$$$$$$$ Poor guy sounds lucky to be alive. What a gross injury. Would be surprised if he pitched this year.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 08:47 PM) This team was not "going nowhere" in June/July, they were still hanging around .500. Thus "ultimately."
  14. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 22, 2012 -> 08:50 PM) The right choice was pulling Peavy when he started losing it, and put him in the bullpen for extra pitches. That would work. But does it really put the same kind of pressure on the arm?
  15. According to nearly everyone, Cooper made the pitching decisions. He presumably left Peavy in games to build up his arm, which was ultimately the right choice for a team that was going nowhere.
  16. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 07:32 PM) If Chris Sale has the potential of Randy Johnson-Lite or to end up like Mike Sirotka or Jim Parque, it's certainly a step up from the sheer predictability of a Mark Buehrle season. Or is it? And yet that's the most interesting aspect of baseball...do you want 5 Mark Buehrle's as your starting rotation, or 5 Chris Sale's? Most of those who follow the farm and the scouting/development side of baseball prefer to take their chances with 5 Sale's. Ozzie Guillen surely would go with the 5 cloned Buehrle's. I doubt there'd be much debate. You'd take Buehrle if you were in a position to win now and Sale if you were building for the future. No team in win-now mode would want a rotation full of guys who have pitched out of the bullpen for the last year and a half.
  17. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Feb 21, 2012 -> 07:12 AM) Interesting, thanks for the info. Since this new draft slotting seems to have been JR's brainchild, let's see if he spends the full allotment! That would be nice, but I'd guess that the primary benefit for the White Sox will be that other teams spending will come down.
  18. I wonder if they are including every name on the 40-man. There may be some Heath families who are confused as to why they received the above email.
  19. I share my surname with a White Sox pitcher.
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 14, 2012 -> 10:11 PM) I feel like every time I am done masturbating I get hit with a wave of shame and regret. I feel like I just burned down an animal rescue shelter. vibes?
  21. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 06:18 PM) That's an even lower probability move and how long would it take for said player to become am impact bat? They clearly feel Cespedes is ready now or they wouldn't have agreed to a 4 year deal. "Ready now" just doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense for the A's.
  22. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Feb 13, 2012 -> 05:32 PM) If he can't acquire a potential impact bat any other way, then he's got to get creative. I have no idea if Cespedes will live up to hype, but I totally agree with the reasoning behind the move. He can't draft one?
  23. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 09:26 PM) Jeremy Lin is officially out of control. Not that he's guaranteed to be a star, but it's a little dumbfounding that no team could figure out that he was a decent player. Did he not get any burn in practice? Is this a product of teams not having any practices during the compressed schedule?
  24. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 10, 2012 -> 07:17 PM) Just look at the players in front of Deng in PER. Hollinger can tout his own stupid stat all he wants, but when most of the New Jersey Nets' starting lineup is in the top 50, it's time to go back to the drawing board because your Player Efficiency Rating is obviously deeply flawed. The NBA is probably the one sport where you can trust your eyes. Correct me if I'm wrong, but but PER does not take defense into account other than defensive rebounding and personal fouls. It's hardly the end-all.
