Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
JorgeFabregas replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
QUOTE (MAX @ Oct 16, 2011 -> 08:39 PM) I guess those are factors, but it doesn't explain last week fully. It was perhaps the worst offensive line performance Ive ever seen. I know there were only 3 sacks, but that was due to cutler's will. No Omiyale? -

It seems like the Bears are really getting fooled on play action. -
It'd be nice if one of these vanity businesses worked out for Frank. This one doesn't seem like a winner.

I just used this page to opt out of receiving three different phone books: http://www.yellowpagesoptout.com/ I don't think that it covers all of the publishers, but we've received four books (two pairs) since moving in less than two months ago. Oy.

QUOTE (flavum @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 03:48 PM) This is like something a fan would think up. I'll reserve judgement, but I'm shocked by this. Yes. Wtf, wtf, wtf.

2011-12 White Sox off season catch all thread

First Ozuna, now Timo. Actually, it seems like this is the second time that Timo has been caught. Anyway, is Willie Harris next? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 4, 2011 -> 07:43 AM) A 26 year old leadoff hitter who put up a .360 OBP and a .753 OPS, while being 40/51 (just under 80%) stolen bases? I'd give that a good number of at bats too. I incorrectly attributed his success in 2011 to a higher walk rate. His walk rate was pretty much in line with the rest of his career. His strong 2011 actually was a result of a .372 BABIP. So, back to his career OBP of .328 next year most likely.

I would exchange at least one 2012 win if it meant keeping North away from the radio and tv broadcasts.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 2, 2011 -> 12:17 PM) He might well be able to get a corner OF starting position in Florida if they give their manager enough control. (Yes, I know who Florida currently has as their startign corner OF"s.) You know who's going to get a million plate appearances next year? Emilio Bonifacio. Marlins fans better hope that his walk rate is at 2011 levels.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 3, 2011 -> 02:59 PM) lol Oney can talk about Bobby Jenks' personal life problems, but Steve Stone can't make a harmless joke? Don't forget Mark Teahen's wife... -
Chris Sale to be Moved to the Rotation in 2012
JorgeFabregas replied to Kalapse's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They'll need six starters with Sale and Peavy in the rotation, as both will have limited innings because of injury or by design. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 1, 2011 -> 01:10 PM) Aaron Hill's numbers look like they snapped back to normal near-all-star level once he went to Arizona from Torotno. Wonder what's going on with the hitters/hitting coaches up there in Canada where a guy like Hill struggles there then hits .315 once he leaves. Kelly Johnson had a similar turnaround, but for the other team. Sample size. -

The guys whose records he's breaking don't seen to be there. Or at least they're not there on the strength of their returns. -
Yep. I don't think that the Elias Sports Bureau rankings are very advanced measures of relative worth.

How many references will there be to Dave Martinez and Ryne Sandberg's wife during the off-season? They made the sex. We get it. Very clever of you to know some Chicago sports gossip. -
White Sox Sign Sergio Santos to 3 year deal

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Sep 30, 2011 -> 10:39 PM) How much can arbitration possibly balloon his contract? Bobby Jenks made 5.6 million and 7.5 million during his arbitration-eligible years with the Sox. -
Glad to hear it, Rock.

Maybe Cox was saying that he will be replaced by Alomar.

AND THAT'S A MARK BUEHRLE WHITE SOX WINNER!!!
JorgeFabregas replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
It seems appropriate that he didn't receive much run support and the support that he got came from the catchers, who are presumably the most grateful for his quick work. -
Sox acquire Marlins' #4 & #5 prospects for Ozzie.
JorgeFabregas replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Presumably their poor 2011 seasons would mean that neither would be ranked as highly going into next season. The pitcher is interesting because he has had a high K rate at every stop. Hopefully he can learn some control. -
QUOTE (oldsox @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 11:14 PM) Buddy Bell's last managerial gig was with Rockies. Not successful. Is he younger than Jack McKeon? No, it was with the Royals. You are right about the "not successful" part, though. When was the last time the White Sox signed a manager with MLB managerial experience? Hopefully that trend will keep Bell and TLR away. My main beef with TLR is that his players seem to feud with him to the point that they get traded (Rolen, Rasmus).
-
QUOTE (chw42 @ Sep 26, 2011 -> 10:11 PM) I'll take LoMo or Leo Nunez, or whatever the hell his real name is. Have to believe that it will be spare parts, as the Marlins will be bidding against themselves.
-
If Axelrod is any good, that helps to cover up the Jackson for Stewart trade, which isn't looking so hot.
-
Hawk just said that the Royals have the best outfield in baseball. Off the top of my head, I'll take the Yankees.

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 12:31 AM) That's a decent comparison. I've had typical experiences with ND fans that are just ridiculous. For the MSU game last year I was at a friend's place watching it and a few ND fans were there. One of them wanted Kelly on the hot seat immediately. Not to mention, a football program in Indiana? How were they ever good? Hard to imagine an entitled fan base for football in a well below average football state in terms of talent and popularity of the sport. They were the destination team for Catholic players. At least that's why they were good initially.
