Nice.

So he's been up for 2 years now, this basically means the Sox guarantee him $8.25 million and in exchange they get an option year for his first free-agency year.

Ozzie leaves and everyone gets deals.

But this is good for the Sox.

That could be one of the biggest bargains if he keeps pitching like he has this year.

I like it! My Santos shirt won't go to waste for awhile, unlike the other ones I have!

That means they get options for his first two FA years. 3 year deal covers last year of pre-arb and two arb years. Options would cover last arb and first two FA.

ok, so 3 option years, even better. The initial thread headline had 2 option years I believe.

No question who the closer will be looks like Sale to the rotation.

Nice deal. Should be a steal for the Sox.

Very nice. A step in the right direction.

I look forward to him mowing down s***ty hitters at Safeco next year.

Interesting move. I wonder if manager Cooper was involved in this discussion and what the discussion would have been like with Oz around.

Good to see Mr. Hahn working.

Good for him. A few years ago he probably thought his MLB dreams were finished, and now he signs this contract.

Solid deal for the Sox too, if he pitches anything like he has the last two years.

Nothing was better than watching him call his father in Ozzie's office after they told him he made the team. Class kid.

I expect another improvement from him next year whether he's the closer or not. Great deal. And signals a goodbye to some more expensive players in the pen.

Like that the sox are being aggressive this offseason already, lets get the loose ends tied up so they can focus on more creative high impact moves when the offseason heats up.

This is quality. Given Sergio didn't pitch til later in his career, buying his 29-30-31 year seasons is a perfect peak of his career deal.

I wonder if the lack of mileage on his arm actually lets him go a little older than normal?

We need to trade Santos to rebuild.

The alternative is that the lack of conditioning on his arm at an early age could blow it out earlier.

You don't think so? This deal makes him more tradeable.

I like it. Even if we tank it, his being locked up for so long cheaply will net us something nice.

Santos obtains $1MM in 2012, $2.75MM in 2013 and $3.75MM in 2014. The White Sox have a $6MM option for 2015, an $8MM option for 2016 and an $8.75MM option for 2017 (they will have to pay $750K to decline any of the option years). The guaranteed portion of the deal buys out one pre-arbitration season and two arbitration seasons.

Yatzee!

The Sox are gonna be as aggressive as hell in the next few weeks building a new culture within the team ASAP. This includes Manager and staff and then player moves when possible.

Can we expect similar deal for Humber?
