  1. Which small sample size anomaly is more surprising: UZR really likes his defense so far, but is SLG has dropped below his OBP? I'd say the lack of power is more surprising, as defensive metrics need more time to mean anything.
  2. Sox will almost undoubtedly find some way to blow this one, but Dunn has three hits vs. lefties in the last two games.
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 18, 2011 -> 11:54 AM) Most Sox pitchers pitch better at home vs. on the road. If that's the argument, considering the vast difference in regard these 2 are held, its time people realize if its Greg Walker's fault Adam Dunn is hitting .160, even if they think maybe he needs a different "voice", maybe its Don Cooper's fault Jake Peavy has a 4.60 ERA and Gavin Floyd hasn't been more consistent since 2008. If Cooper is the genius a lot of people here claim, some even going as far as saying he should be the next manager, then Greg Walker isn't nearly as stupid as the same people think. 4.00 ERA on the road, 4.12 at home. Here's my OPS+ and ERA+ answer: OPS+= 91 =11th ERA+=105=5th =above average pitching and below average hitting. So yes, it's the park.
  4. Well, for one they play in a hitters' park. Where do they rank in OPS+ vs ERA +?
  5. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 6, 2011 -> 05:43 AM) Wash my car I really like this post. Probably more than I should. And I'm sober.
  6. Floyd's ERA was over 4.5 not too long ago, so it's actually come down if it's now in the 4.3s. Why is it that you apparently think the pitching staff needs more of an overhaul than the position players?
  7. I don't think that Knox really bailed Cutler out. Sure, he threw the ball behind him, but Knox took one step back and made a play that you absolutely expect your receivers to make.
  8. He let Dunn face a lefty with 2 on in the bottom of the ninth. Then pinch hit Viciedo for De Aza.
  9. Not hitting for Dunn suggests that Ozzie isn't trying to win. Instead he hits for one of the team's best all-around players.
  10. 320 1/3 innings in three years if he's really done. He threw 173 2/3 in 2008. It seems impossible to hope for that many next year.
  11. The Fox game is on in Saint Louis today, which seems rare.
  12. Something about the inevitable march towards the grave burning through another year of some terrible contracts.
  13. I'd like ptatc's (sp?) opinion on possibly shutting Peavy down. He has advocated building his arm up under the stress of big league games.
  14. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 10:42 AM) Brandon Meriweather Good. That's who I was hoping for. Does he seem to have much left in the tank?
  15. If a pitcher has a bad game, then they're a mental midget. That's what I've gathered from this thread.
  16. Will the Bears add anyone to their secondary now that teams are getting their rosters down?
  17. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 1, 2011 -> 06:56 PM) Which is odd since no one still wants Cito Gaston. Actually, he was hired since then and has since retired. I'm sure he doesn't get a lot of phone calls about jobs, so you may be right.
  18. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Aug 30, 2011 -> 09:44 AM) I was surprised it wasn't posted already. As far as batting Rios 4th, you have more outs in that lineup than him and maybe it's best you don't bat them - Rios, Morel, Beckham - back-to-back-to back. That is exactly what should be done. Put any and all sub .300 players together at the bottom of the lineup where they're less likely to kill rallies. Or don't play them at all.
