Desmond Clark has a torn MCL, likely out 2-4 weeks. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2011/08/28/des...k-has-torn-mcl/ -
6/28 GT - SOX @ M's - 3:10pm CDT - WGN
JorgeFabregas replied to knightni's topic in 2011 Season in Review
Rios is slugging .556 in the past 7 days. Sure, off days and yesterday he didn't bat, but that's all I got. -
He had some rooting interest for the Sox, because he kept complaining how Camp Cora never improved anyone's defense.
-
Whatever happened to Cubano?
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Aug 25, 2011 -> 12:38 AM) He's considered a hybrid, basically. Next to Ozzie and KW, anyone would look like Bill James or Billy Beane. Are you talking about Altered Beast or Hahn? In all the blurbs and articles posted recently I have seen nothing about his philosophy--only that he's smart and ready. Where did you get this info?

Wait until Tony Pena gets here. He'll tell us what to do.

QUOTE (RME JICO @ Aug 12, 2011 -> 08:42 AM) I guess it is because just how bad Dunn has been this season. He is literally the worst hitter in the league, and it is not even close. According to BP, he is dead last in VORP and BWARP and Rios is not that far ahead. The worst part is they are the only terrible batters with over 400 PA's. Dunn's (-16.9) is the worst VORP in the last decade. Looking at this is pretty funny, #844 out of 844: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/sortable...php?cid=1012588 Worst player, not worst hitter. He's getting dinged in the "replacement player" stats because he's a DH and DHs are supposed to hit. The worst wOBA in the league? That's Alex Rios. Doh! Worst wRC+ plus is also Rios by a long stretch. I was also using a minimum of 400 PAs.

Is Hahn really a baseball guy? I thought that he was primarily a money/contract guy.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
JorgeFabregas replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
I'm not sure that makes any sense at all. So if he's sitting around at home, then he has his fellow union members' backs? It's not as if he's skipping out on a picket line. -
Hey Soxtalk! You just made ESPN Chicago

Re: death threats. Well, there is Milkman's sig. -
Checkout dapcentral.org. I believe they have most every episode that hasn't been released to DVD on their torrent tracker.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 31, 2011 -> 05:30 PM) 6) There's just ZERO EXCUSE why your 3rd lefty is facing Adrian Gonzalez with only a 4-3 lead in the late innings. PATHETIC. HORRIBLE. We were remarking last night, why the heck are they wasting Thornton in a meaningless came, and of course it came back to bite Ozzie in the butt. Steve Stone made some quip about Gonzalez always hitting Ohman.
-
QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jul 28, 2011 -> 12:35 AM) Yeah, we all know about Richard, Hudson and Gio. Blah, blah, blah. But to include Chris Getz as someone we'd actually want on our team is really pushing it. Royals' fans don't even want him on their roster. Yeah, I was wondering what he's done to build the Royals' system. I'm trying to think of the best piece he sent them. Daniel Cortes? Remember the posts about that guy?

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:30 PM) When the hell did he develop .500 SLG power? Pretty much just this month. He had 20 career homeruns at the start of the season and has hit 8 this July.
-
QUOTE (danman31 @ Jul 18, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) Career marks are so iffy because it's not as much about the quality of the player, but the fact that they played well into their 40s. I never liked the idea of someone's legacy changing when they are well past their prime. To me, Ichiro is a better contact hitter than Rose and the numbers support that. I don't need him to play until he's 45 and break some record for me to realize that. Where would you peg the end of Rose's prime atthough? He led the league in OBP at age 38. He put up a .391 OBP at age 40. Pretty amazing stuff. http://www.fangraphs.com/graphs.aspx?playe...1&type=full

Sox versus Tigers Game thread

QUOTE (FlySox87 @ Jul 16, 2011 -> 05:38 PM) Jackson's coming out to try to finish this one, regardless of runs scored here. Everyone agree? Not after the long inning. I'm sure we were all expecting scratching out one run at best. -
Has anyone noticed that Beckham is OPSing .480 against lefties this year?

The official "end of Ozzie soon?" thread
JorgeFabregas replied to whitesoxbrian's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 9, 2011 -> 05:29 PM) Neither one of those sound plausible. A guy looking for a job is going to call Ozzie? BS. And the Sox reached out to LaRussa? Yeah, I don't see that one either. "Former manager" and "guy looking for a job" aren't necessarily the same thing. If KW was gauging interest, then he was trying to find out whether a given former manager was, in fact, looking for a job. -
Question about Dayan's newly abundant walks: has he actually gotten that much more patient or do AAA pitchers just not want to pitch to him?
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 08:15 AM) I didn't realize he was in the league. He was in independent ball last year. Called up from AAA this year because the Diamondbacks needed a DH during interleague play. He's a large man.

Anyone mention that the White Sox are one of their largest creditors? http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2011/06/...ggest-creditor/ I read somewhere that the debt stems from the shared spring training facility.

WTF are we waiting for ? Call up Viciedo !
JorgeFabregas replied to macsandz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I believe that ISO would not be affected by an 0-fer. Edit: well, I guess it would. Because SLG would drop faster than AVG. -
QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 06:19 PM) I guess I'm the bad kind of fan when it comes to tickets. I will go through stubhub and buy already purchased tickets from a season ticket holder as opposed to newer tickets from whitesox.com because they actually offer discounts on stubhub. In essence, I'm not helping their "tickets sold" policy for attendence. You're supporting season ticket holders' ability to keep buying season tickets.

I'm about as mild mannered as they come, but a sports website where you can't post hyperbole or in absolutes doesn't sound very fun to me. J4L's posts seems to inspire a lot of discussion rather than quash it.

That's s***ty. Minny has a rep as a gay-friendly city.
