  1. I'm not sure that's a good comparison. Beckham had a very good ST, but his numbers weren't jaw-dropping.
  2. Seems like Beckham might get the last shot at this guy today. Make it count.
  3. What the f*** is going on here. We might need an investigation.
  4. QUOTE (santo=dorf @ Jun 30, 2009 -> 09:17 AM) Very nice run, and looking at the overall numbers you would say he's had a solid season, but he was actually very terrible in one part and tremendous in the other. Is this better than a consistent Jon Garland who would end up with the same line? The season's not over yet, nor the contract but I still think it was a risky move. I'm rooting for him! You had a post I couldn't find where you calculated the impropable numbers Gavin would have to put up for the rest of the year to match last season. Aside from the win total (which he won't touch), it's almost as if he's tried to match those numbers since then.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 10:24 AM) More like Aaron Rowand syndrome. Rowand has had two good offensive seasons in his career and yet we all love him. Gotta love the white guys who try hard and play good defense. Rowand has a .799 career OPS, just a couple ticks below Torii Hunter's mark. His OPS+ is also 105 compared to Hunter's 107. Hunter is obviously the better fielder over his career, though. Anyway, I was a Rowand detractor, but a near-.800 OPS from a centerfielder is pretty danged good. Another comparison: Venon Wells .804/107
  6. QUOTE (heirdog @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) Well, I'm not so sure the White Sox signed Viciedo to a $10+ million deal to have him sit in the minors for several years. Basically, we'd have paid him $7 million to spend 2+ years in the minors and then come up to the White Sox when he is ready, give us 1+ good year and then hit the FA market where he gets paid a ton by the Yankees, Mets or Red Sox. Bring him up...there is no arbitration clock on the guy. The White Sox have stated that they have control over Ramirez and Viciedo for 6 years.
  7. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 29, 2009 -> 11:58 AM) It is much more likely that Dotel will be the only guy we end up getting draft pick compensation for next season. It seems unlikely that Dotel would be offered arbitration because of the potential cost, no? He'd likely accept. Beautox, do ya think we can avoid calling our young lefties CR/AP? It doesn't bode well.
  8. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 06:42 PM) You can tell White Sox veterans know Beckham is going to be a star. Beckham looked overwhelmed in the pile. Off-topic. The Aybar bunt is up on the game summary on mlb.com. 2 base error on the throw to 1st. Then the right fielder air mailed the throw to third.
  9. My converter box switched to a zoomed aspect ratio last inning for some reason. I can't find the controller and it's hurting my eyes.
  10. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 05:13 PM) and when he said the Sox relief pitchers are better than 9th best in the American League. He said the league--he meant the major leagues.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) Carl? Carl Getz is listed on the AS ballot for the White Sox' 2b.
  12. Konerko looks a little loosey goosey after getting hit.
  13. QUOTE (robinventura23 @ Jun 27, 2009 -> 04:47 PM) 90 Konerko must've been paying attention.
  14. So many people are so happy about dancing to the Big Mac song@!
  15. I'm afeared that Bradley will hit a tater here.
  16. Ha @ "pointed expletive." Supposedly Lou called Bradley a piece of s*** or something like that.
