So has anyone made the Kotsay-Erstad comparison yet? -
QUOTE (HoosierSox @ Jul 29, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) He won't be the next Frank Thomas but he is the best hitting prospect we have had come up since Frank so there is reason to be excited. If he hits as well as Maggs or C.Lee and plays a good second base. Well...that'd be wonderful.

What's life without a little danger? I have read that it's safer than a sedentary lifestyle, though obviously biking is not the only form of physical activity.

I think DJ and Farmer hate Gomez as much as Hawk loves him. -

I logged in to countdown to the Jenks record. I see you guys are all over it. I surely just jinxed it though. -
Who will have a more successful MiLB career?
JorgeFabregas replied to Marky Mark's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (son of a rude @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 12:15 AM) oney guillen had a pretty successful career I'm assuming this is a joke. Or maybe just an observation that he played one game in AAA. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/G/Oney-Guillen.shtml -
Brian Anderson traded to Red Sox for Mark Kotsay
JorgeFabregas replied to Jimmywins1's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jul 28, 2009 -> 03:31 PM) Just curious, but how is Kotsay a better deal than Brian? Is he better at D? He doesn't seem any better at the plate...and he's older...and BA was a first round pick. Kotsay is a FA and will not be using up a roster spot next year. That's a big part of it. -
It amuses me a bit. Riding on the sidewalk is not only illegal most places, but it is often more dangerous because you are out of the line of sight for people turning in or out of driveways and parking lots. For the record, I am not a law-abiding bicyclist. I always wait my turn at stop signs, but often don't come to a complete stop. If there are no cars around, then I won't stop at all. If I am at a red light with a green left-turn arrow I sometimes go if there are no more cars turning--in part because it seems like this gives me more visibility.

Washington Times: Sox fan = dumbest fan of the year
JorgeFabregas replied to 3 BeWareTheNewSox 5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 11:12 AM) He wasn't even close to that ball. Every fan goes for a ball hit by them. It's pure instinct. That's why blaming Bartman is f***ing stupid. Everybody around him got up and tried to go for that ball. Turns out he was the only one who actually touched it. Nobody around him got any s*** about it. A woman next to him went for it, then pointed at him after he touched it. -
QUOTE (SI1020 @ Jul 27, 2009 -> 11:26 AM) it looks like it will never click for him at the plate. This is probably true. However, he has hit in every game since he was sent down. He is 6/19--and of those 6 hits two are homeruns and one is the aforementioned double.
-
BA has been hacking since he got sent down. He's got a hitting streak, some power, lots of Ks, and no walks. Maybe he's following the DeWayne Wise school to staying on the big league roster.
-
QUOTE (tommy @ Jul 25, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) Grace and Rose both pick the White Sox for the division win FWIW They've won every Fox game they've played this year. Their view may be slanted.
-
Downs just had his third straight loss or blown save. He spent some time on the DL in June. I am not sure that he's healthy.
-
Surely Maggs' option would vest. Are their contracts really all that different?
-
Did the Cards rush Brett Wallace through the minors? A small sample size at each level, but his numbers have dropped significantly as he's progressed.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 10:09 PM) I'd also like to thank Maddon for pulling Shields. I'm going to miss tomorrow's game, and I think my blood pressure will thank me. Getz and Beckham had a big hand in that--they worked the count at the end.

QUOTE (Pumpkin Escobar @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 02:51 PM) His k's have declined faster then any other "Elite" closer I've seen His K/9 is higher than it was in 2008 or 2007.
-
QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 09:49 AM) Not including Buehrle he already has the 3rd best ops on the team as well. To be this good, this quick is just amazing. He's a stud, no doubt. 4th behind the the big 3.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) Actual safety test data.

Clearly we need a right-handed leadoff hitter to fulfill Ozzie's dream of the all R-L-R-L-R lineup. Edit: I realize this doesn't make all that much sense.
