  1. Yeah, I don't know about this game. Is there really an objective? Or just, hey, f*** around and explore? I feel like I would bite at $20, but I don't think I can see myself spending $60 and then stop playing after a week of exploration.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 6, 2016 -> 07:30 PM) Except he wasn't a top college pitcher this year. He was so awful he was demoted to the bullpen at one point. Drafted in the 2nd RD, former 1-1 candidate, I think he qualifies, regardless of his senior year hiccups.
  3. With the Sox loss tonight, they take over the 11th pick. 2.5 GB of the Phillies for 10th 12 GB of the Braves for the 1st pick
  4. Here is the thing though, we lose the tie breaker to the Phillies, Brewers, Braves, Reds, Padres, and A's. So we need to beat all of them by 0.5 games or more to draft ahead of them.
  5. The US Mens volleyball team barely beat Qatar today. They better get their s*** together. Are Rogers/Dalhouser in it this year?
  6. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 11:15 PM) To be fair, top college pitches should do well in rookie ball. Obviously it's a great sign that Hansen is torching the league with GF, but until he starts doing really well at W-S, I am not going to put him above Fulmer or maybe even Burdi, if Burdi can transition to a starter.
  7. With the Sox loss tonight, they remain with the 12th pick. 1 GB of the Royals for 11th 1.5 GB of the Phillies for 10th (If they hold on to win) 13 GB of the Braves for the 1st pick
  8. While everyone is ignoring Booker, I'll update you on his tear through the minors so far. Went 3/4 today with a 2B, HR, 3 RBI and a walk. Zangari had 3 doubles today with an RBI. Up to .271 on the year.
  9. To be fair, top college pitches should do well in rookie ball. Obviously it's a great sign that Hansen is torching the league with GF, but until he starts doing really well at W-S, I am not going to put him above Fulmer or maybe even Burdi, if Burdi can transition to a starter.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Aug 5, 2016 -> 11:46 AM) Golf is extremely boring. Totally agree. I would rather watch pretty much any other olympic sport. I'm most excited for volleyball, swimming, and table tennis.
  11. I really wanted that pullover, but I can't find anyone to go to the game Saturday. I'll give someone $20 if they can get me one.
  12. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 05:38 PM) Prediction: media hysteria is out of control for the Olmypics (again) and the games end up a success with few hiccups. I don't know if I would say Russia had only a few hiccups, but before the games start, all there is to talk about and cover is how the city prepared. Once the games start, it's really all anyone cares about.
  13. With the Sox win tonight...they drop to the 12th overall pick. 1 GB of the Royals for 11th 2 GB of the Phillies for 10th 13 GB of the Braves for 1st
  14. I don't know if anyone noticed, but Joel Booker got called up to GF from AZL. Went 2/4, BB, SB in his debut. He now has 27 SB to 1 CS on the season, and only 27 K. Hitting .302 with .394 OBP across both levels.
  15. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 10:55 AM) I suppose I should acknowledge that it's absolutely no surprise that statistics would bear out that there is SOME marginal improvement throughout the draft based on higher picks, but is that implicit marginal impact significant enough to want the team to lose? The other real question is whether anyone in this thread thinks that the front office will evaluate talent in the draft effectively enough for it to make a difference. Yes. And yes.
  16. With tonight's loss, we remain in line for the 11th pick, winning the tie-breaker with KC. 2.5 GB of the Brewers for 10th. 13 GB of the Braves for the 1st pick.
  17. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 04:11 PM) You would probably just be chatting with yourself if we did that. Ok
  18. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 02:24 PM) You must have a miserable existence as a sports fan. Openly rooting for your team to lose is just flat out disgusting. If the team goes under .500 the rest of the way, I could argue I had more happy days with them losing, than you had happy days with them winning. Who is the miserable one then?
  19. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) So how often do the right players suck at the right times? How often are all the players you like good at the same time?
  20. Is it possible to make this a temporarily sub forum so we can have threads for each sport? There are just so many sports going on all at the same time I want to be able to find my swimming and volleyball chat easily.
  21. QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 01:27 PM) When you have young players that you are developing like Anderson, Tilson, Rodon, Saladino and Sanchez there are no such things as meaningless games. You can't root for a team to lose but expect these players to do well and develop into what we need them to. Winning and good play go hand in hand. Sure you can. As long as our bullpen, minus Robertson and Fulmer, implode and ruin every 5-1 lead we give them, it's entirely possible that the starter pitched well, and those 5 runs were scored through the help of Anderson, Tilson, and Saladino. This is baseball, individuals can have good games and the team can still lose rather easily.
  22. QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 3, 2016 -> 12:51 PM) If they get the #10 slot, they won't forfeit the pick when they sign a free agent. If they get #11 they will. Big difference. Also, his argument is that a team shouldn't "intend to lose games". Well, obviously. No one is suggesting that Robin is telling the players to throw the games. But as a fan who has no impact on the team, I am HOPING they lose every game.
  23. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 11:31 PM) I'd still rather win, though. I don't care about the damn draft. We'll get somebody and nobody knows if that player will ever do squat in the big leagues. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 2, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) Then this thread isn't the one for you.
  24. Of course Benintendi and Kopech have had awesome games since. Kopech just had something like 6 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 10 K.
  25. With tonight's loss, we now have the 11th pick, winning the tie-breaker with KC. 3 GB of the Brewers for the 10th pick. 14 GB of the Braves for the 1st pick.
