Baseball America White Sox top 10 list
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to royoung's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 07:37 PM) Fulmer didn't make top 101 for BP For some reason I was thinking Fulmer was #1 on everyone's White Sox list. -
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 05:17 PM) What is the split? L/R I would assume. So he can only pull the ball against righties, and is better going away on lefties. The literal example of hit the ball where it's being pitched I guess.

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 08:32 PM) 25 starts is a good enough sample size for me. He did finish top-ten in Cy Young voting, too. 12 of those 25 he failed to record more than 18 outs. Still a great season overall, but he still hasn't been good long enough in my mind to be thought of as better than Sale, Price, Felix, Grienke, Scherzer. -

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) Yeah he's not 25. Should be top 50 for sure though Yeah, I kind of figured he would be between #40-#60 on most publications. Hoping Fulmer is top 30. -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 08:15 AM) To be fair, this was Arrieta's second straight year of Cy Young level pitching. Not his first. He wasn't even a qualified pitcher in 2014. -
Look at the bright side here boys, Sandoval and V-Mart both were -2.0 WAR last year. They got paid $17M and $14M respectively. Hanley Ramirez had a -1.8 WAR and was paid a whopping $19M last season. So yeah, Avi sucks, but at least he doesn't make any money. We could be a lot worse situation like we are with LaRoche.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 25, 2016 -> 12:41 PM) Worst starter in baseball You take that back, sir! Pablo Sandoval (-2.0) and Chris Owings (-1.4) had worse WARs than Avi's! And if we change it to only 400 PA required, Avi drops from 3rd down to 8th! (LaRoche pops up and goes in to 4th).

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 24, 2016 -> 07:22 PM) Paul Goldschmidt is a beast. Remember the Goldy for Konerko trade "rumors"? I remember following him when he was a minor leaguer and telling my Dbacks friend about him. Now of course he's a f***ing stud. -

If you are willing to put Arrieta ahead of Sale after 1 amazing season, then I would assume those same people put Kluber above Sale going in to 2015, and look how that turned out. PS: Not saying Kluber was bad in 2015 by any means, but don't be so quick to assume a Cy Young season can be repeated every year just because it happened once. Kershaw, Felix, Price, Sale, Grienke, those guys have been doing it for many years now. Arrieta, Kluber, Kuechel, these guys likely had 1 big spike versus a steady plateau. -
QUOTE (The Critic @ Jan 23, 2016 -> 05:33 PM) I did not expect to love Arizona as much as I did. I'd move there in a heartbeat. That's my goal right now. I've been submitting transfer requests.

I would like to take Lagares, but Cespedes only has 1 year with them. If they move Lagares, their options for 2017 are then just Granderson, Conforto, and Nimmo.
-
Disappointing, but $27.5M for 1 year is a steeeep price. He pretty much has to prove that 2015 wasn't a fluke. If he reverts back to any season before 2015's year, he will not be worth that contract. I hope to god we find an OF and don't have to go through this saga again next offseason with him. Go get Austin Jackson and be done with it. Don't lose that draft pick.

Found some HR calls.... Walk off winners
-
I'm oddly excited to know what his HR call will be. Obviously we grew up with one of the most famous HR calls of all time, along with a host of other pretty popular phrases as well. I'm very curious to know if Benetti has his own call (I suppose I could research it) or if he will just use something standard like "And it's gone!".

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 22, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) The kids were wearing hats then? I know there were some hats, I remember hats. I think I remember some high school football player lining up hats for which college he would choose. Or maybe it was HS basketball player. I do remember seeing a press conference with hats though.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 07:19 AM) I can wait another 6 months for them to get it right. It was pushed back 7 months purely because of the success of Episode 7's winter release, not because they want/need more time to "get it right".

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 21, 2016 -> 04:22 PM) It's pretty evident from the flightplan and other player's accounts (Toews being at brunch the next morning in Chicago) that its impossible that the Kane was where this "girl" said he was. I's great clickbait though since he is just coming off of the other "scandal". LOL, I just looked up that fan fiction stuff. There are actually sexual fan fiction stories written about these guys on the internet, holy s***. This s*** is creepy and weird.... https://www.wattpad.com/search/patrick%20kane -

QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 09:33 AM) Did you at least see Adam Eaton and/or Frankie Muniz? They go to lots of Coyotes games. Nah, they went to the game before that one. I tweeted Eaton and asked if he was going to Saturday's game but he didn't reply. -
Just got back from Arizona. Loved it still. Went hiking up Doe Mountain in Sedona. Unbelievable views. I'll throw some pics on here once I upload them. They don't even look real.

QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 02:01 PM) It'd only be for 1 year, don't they have $50 million coming off the books? They don't want to hit the cap penalty though, maybe for reasons other than just the monetary penalty.

QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 20, 2016 -> 01:00 PM) In terms of rabbit. You would think his sources would talk if they didnt think they were going to sign him. If they know they are close to signing him is when they might want to keep a tight lip about things with them being that close. Or maybe they are just busy? I don't see A lack of timely response to a tegular civilian who is looking for info for a message board as a reason why a Cespedes signing is going to happen. Not saying it wont, I just don't feel the need to read that much in to it.

Let's take the bait and say it's true.... I'll say 4 yrs/$96M.

I went to the Devils/Coyotes game here in AZ yesterday. Man, what a downgrade in experience from the UC. Only about 60% filled, and both teams were so sloppy. Probably didn't help the atmosphere that the Yotes lost 2-0. -
QUOTE (Knackattack @ Jan 18, 2016 -> 02:02 AM) Cespedes before this year: Never hit 30 HR Was an overall negative defensive WAR player Was coming off seasons w/ OPS of 736 & 751 Had staggering OBP's of .294 & .301 (people say Frazier's OBP sucks??) And now people are freaking out that some other team is going to pay him 100+ million dollars to age and decline. If we are gonna get an outfielder, go for broke at Upton, or sign Jackson for defense in RF and sign Desmond on a 1-2yr deal to upgrade the offense at SS. While I still much prefer Cespedes or Upton, I didn't realize how useful Austin Jackson still is. For some reason I was thinking he was replacement level fodder and had no idea he ever had a 5 WAR season. Even if he settle on him for RF, that could still be a 3-4 WAR upgrade or Avi's 2015.

QUOTE (Lillian @ Jan 14, 2016 -> 08:37 PM) I just checked the stats on Baseball Reference: http://www.baseball-reference.com/register...id=bell--001ale In his 5 seasons, between the ages of 23 and 27, he hit 87 homers and 89 doubles, in 1,335 at bats. That is a homer every 15 at bats. Over that same period, he also walked considerably more than he struck out. Now, how you translate those numbers to a MLB projection, is another question. In Puig's breakout season over there, he hit a HR once every 19.2 AB.
