  1. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 9, 2014 -> 12:18 AM) Any hopes or predictions for Monday's press conferences? I'm looking forward to what everyone has to offer. Can Nintendo make some noise? Can Microsoft generate enough excitement to catch up to PS4? How much stuff can Sony reveal considering they have one game (Driveclub) coming out in 2014? Isn't Uncharted 4 coming out this year? Also The Order 1886 or whatever it's called.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 6, 2014 -> 05:02 PM) I'm having the most first-world problem... I'm pretty sure my HTC One is water damaged and bricked. In this case, my dad is happy to use his upgrade to get himself a One M8 and give me his old iPhone 5. ...and good god do I not want to use an iPhone. The daily frustrations will kill me. But I can't turn it down, for now. Bleck Just get a go-phone instead.
  3. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:49 AM) Ok so: 2 singles with 2 outs in the 7th and gets out of it. Lead off double in the 8th, single up the middle to score a run (100 pitches now), grounder to Alexei's right, does his leg slide thing, bobbles on the transfer to throw it, another single (now bases loaded), Coop comes out and talks to Sale (115 pitches) and then he gives up a home run to Trout on a 3-2 pitch down in the zone Yes. And right after Alexei's error is where I would have pulled him, although I don't think the bullpen started warming up yet until the run scored on the previous batter. I feel like that moment probably took the air out of Sale, or at the very least pissed him off. Whether or not it affected him, I'm not sure, but i had just had a bad feeling at that moment. Not getting the bullpen going at the beginning of the inning was probably the biggest mistake, IMO. But not sure if that's on Coop or Robin. I feel like I usually see Coop picking up the phone to the bullpen.
  4. Didn't realize this thread was already created. Here is the list of Twitter handles I've compiled. Would probably be best to just absorb that list in to the list above. Maybe just tack the HTML links on to the end of each pick to keep them all in 2 place instead of 2 threads. Same as last year. http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=92292
  5. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:40 AM) At the end of the 7th inning inning Sale let up 2 hits before recording the 3rd out. He was at around 90-92 pitches. He came out for the 8th (no problems), let up a single, Alexei bobbles a sure out at 2nd (Sale is not up to 100 pitches with runners on 1st and 2nd with no outs), Sale then lets up another hit to make it bases loaded, another hit to score a run, and then Coop came out to talk to Sale who was at 115 or so pitches and left him in to face Trout and gave up a grand slam on a 3-2 pitch.... You make the judgement Pretty close, but actually it was a leadoff double on a bloop down the LF line. Then a single up the middle scored the runner to make it 5-1. Then came Alexei's error on the DP ball and the rest of what you spoke of.
  6. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 8, 2014 -> 12:36 AM) Did not see the game. Actually turned on the radio for the Trout at bat. Just wondering how Ventura lost the game? not disagreeing. Just wondering what moves he failed to make: Leaving Sale in too long? Farmer and DJ said Sale threw a bad pitch to Trout -- a change up over the plate after he showed that he could not handle the fastball. It was not a strike. It was a change-up low that only Mike Trout, Miguel Cabrera, and maybe Giancarlo Stanton could take out for a HR. Most would ground out or line out to CF. A agree he should have kept pumping that fastball, but it really wasn't a bad location. Just a phenomenal hitter.
  7. QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:59 PM) Eh, its not hindsight when you tell the people you are with that he shouldn't come out and then he does and gets hammered. Sorry I didn't post it on here? I told my dog that Sale would give up a grandslam to Mike Trout tonight and that the Sox would lose. See, I knew we should have never started Sale. I knew it would end this way. Saw it all the way. RV is stupid for ever starting Sale against this team. He just got off the DL for the love of god!
  8. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:58 PM) Oh please I've defended Ventura since he's been here. This was pathetic though. Why do our pitcher HAVE to throw 100 pitches at all cost? He didn't need to. He had a relatively easy 7 and the game was in hand. Let on of the pigs in the pen handle the last 6 outs and you still have a fresh bullpen to tomorrow. Then why not pull him after 6? Or after a couple batters in the 7th? Oh that's right, because the inning ended well, so hindsight tells you it was the right move to let him go 7.
  9. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:58 PM) Look it's not about being smarter than RV. But it's common sense given his pitch count and recent DL stint. He should've gotten one batter and that's it. Chris is too competitive, ya gota protect himself from himself. But it's not common sense. He was dominating this lineup. He has been dominating everyone. He came off the DL over a month ago. It's not like he was at 110 pitches. He was at like 91. There was no reason to give the Angels a chance by taking him out at 7. Even after 1 hit I was not ready to take him out. He pitched over baserunners before. For me, it wasn't until Alexei made that error and the emotions were likely running through Chris that I would have suggested removing him. We all have different opinions on when he should have left, but to say it's so obvious and we all knew better is cheapened by the fact that we all said this after the bases were loaded. Next time, I want people to make their opinions about when a guy should be pulled, pinch hit for, replaced defensively, or whatever WHEN IT HAPPENS. Then you will all get credit for being smarter than RV. But all this "I knew it all along" stuff is just annoying. I'm not talking to you specifically, but it happens with a lot of people here, myself probably included.
  10. I would have thought we were facing Oakland circa the 2000's with the way the Angels are dunking singles in and squibing basehits through the hole. This is the insanely frustrating.
  11. QUOTE (Butter Parque @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:51 PM) Why, because we didnt say it here. ? Frankly I shut the ipad off and was ready for bed. I never thought for a seco d he would come out for the 8th. It was obvious he was laboring through the 7th. Cooper and Ventura just lost the game and let our ace throw an extra 25 useless, yet high-stress pitches for absolutely no reason. Yes. You don't get points for being smarter than Ventura in your head. Everyone here are the greatest hindsight managers in baseball. Any great choice is exactly what they should have done. And bad choice is something they would have never done. It's just tiresome to see.
  12. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:49 PM) You did miss that, because I did say he should've been taken out after 7 Really? Because I've gone back twice now and do not see a single person saying he should be taken out after 7, or that he shouldn't start the 8th. I'll await your quote proving me wrong.
  13. Sale should have absolutely started the 8th. All you people yelling and screaming about it AFTER THE FACT don't get any points from me. Were all of you saying he should be taken out after 7 innings when it actually happened? I must have missed that. But Sale should have never stuck around the face Trout, or really any batter after Alexei's error, that much should have been obvious.
  14. Mike Trout with the bases loaded......f*** f*** f***. The mindset has changed from keeping Sale's stat line pretty, to just winning this ball game.
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:35 PM) Defense goes bad at worst times. Stop the BS talk of AR over Tulo ever. That was Hawk and only Hawk. Alexei has been the best in the AL, though.
  16. Come on Chris, get him swinging on that dirty change-up. DP if he makes contact.
  17. Ugh. Alexei made so many nice plays.....and then that.....Sale didn't need that right now while he is trying to survive 8 innings.
  18. Well this pretty much ends Sale's chances at a CG. Unless he has like a 5 pitch 8th inning.
  19. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 11:14 PM) Sox game freezing bad last 3 innings on MLBTV. I'm sorry, did you say Freesing? Because he just got a hit, jerk.
  20. Yeeeeeeeeeea, Jose can go ahead and sit on the bench tomorrow. It's not your series, buddy.
  21. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 7, 2014 -> 10:53 PM) Tank catches a break on the made to order double play. The 'hatred' of Buehrle from some Sox fans just floors me. I assume you put hatred in quotes because you realize that no one hates Buehrle and you're just being dramatic.
  22. So this is why the Angels are under performing. Got it.
