  1. I actually figured Avisail would have beaten that out easily.
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 09:10 PM) Tank needs to know the rules, bet he knows Saturday. He knew to throw his hands up, he just didn't take it all the way and refuse to go for the ball.
  3. What a horses*** awful f***ing call. It's too bad Viciedo didn't throw him out at home, and then see the Rangers scream at the ump saying "It should have been a ground rule double!!".
  4. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 23, 2013 -> 04:55 PM) Standing for Rios wouldn't make much sense. Unless they show some video montage of AJ and Rios together and people want to give them a standing ovation. I mean if our fans give Rios a standing ovation, fine. It would show we have nice fans. But it would absolutely make zero sense. AJ, however, who has a ring. That makes sense. Exactly. I never hated Rios, but he was never my favorite player. But it would be a nice gesture and a good showing for potential free agents to show that fans on the Southside will have your back and love you even after you leave the city. Also, Rios would probably feel down if AJ gets a big standing ovation, and then Rios is announced 60 seconds later and no one cares.
  5. I want to see 100% standing ovation for these guys, yes, even Rios.
  6. $10 parking is cheap as hell. Yeah, if you drive alone that sucks, but going to a game with 4 people, that's $2.50 a person to park. I'm used to paying the $23 or whatever it was at the Sox games to park. $23 between 2 people sucks.
  7. Whaaaaaaaaat. Christopher Kamka ‏@ckamka 17m #WhiteSox get wins in back to back games by pitchers born on June 5, 1988 (Rienzo & Petricka)
  8. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 11:41 PM) Pa-tritch-ka That's disappointed. I've been saying it wrong in my head for like 4 years.
  9. Royals announcers are saying "Pa-tritch-ka", almost like Patricia. I've always imagined his name was pronounced "Pa-tree-ka". How are Hawk and Stoney saying it?
  10. QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 10:09 PM) Cubs expected to go after Choo http://www.csnchicago.com/cubs/cubs-search...be-game-changer One of the most underrated players since Todd Helton.
  11. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 05:18 PM) I saw them live at Lolla and they were pretty good. They are from the Chicagoland area. (edit) And the Lupe thing was okay. Not that amazing. Hes not on Kendrick's level right now, Good Kid MAAD City is unbelievable. I doubt All City Chess Team really wants to battle rap against Black Hippy. Only because Lupe hasn't put out anything that great in a while. He is more or less on the back 9 of his career, while Kendrick is in his prime. That being said, I'm not a big Kendrick fan. Nothing against him, and I don't think he's bad or anything, but I've never sought out his music to listen to.
  12. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 04:46 PM) Their birthday is 1/28/74. I know because my Mom's is the 28th too ha. Damnit. I just wasted 5 minutes on Google.
  13. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 04:41 PM) Maggs is my 2nd favorite Sox player born on 1/29/74. Maggs is above Dallas Cowboys TE David LaFleur on my list of athletes born on 1/29/74.
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 04:39 PM) Somebody has waaay too much free time: https://twitter.com/sincecubsws I'd say they have about 10-20 seconds of too much free time a day.
  15. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 04:32 PM) mimicked his batting stance and everything. His run from '99 to '03 was my first years of watching baseball and he was dominating. Same. Magglio, not Frank, was my favorite player growing up.
  16. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 12:27 PM) That dinosaur lyrics to adolf rapping was the most embarrassing thing I've ever heard. Why? I love that within 24 hours of Kendrick's overblown diss verse, Lupe just f***ing hammers him through the ground with SLR 2. f***ing insane lyricist.
  17. Speaking of Maggs, holy s*** I had forgotten that he had a near MVP season for Detroit in 2007. Hit .363 with 28 HR, 139 RBI, but finished 2nd in MVP to a roided up ARod who hit 54 HR.
  18. Holy s***, 20-year-old Javier Baez has 33 HR and 100 RBI this year in 119 games between High-A and AA. Unfortunately for Cubs fans, he also is striking out about 25% and has 41!!! errors at SS.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 03:46 PM) Also it is worth noting that Strawberry never it 40 homers in a season. I said "hit nearly 40 HR a few times." He hit 39 twice, and 37 another time.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 03:25 PM) Ceiling? Not much if any. The guy hit one off of the facing of the Comcast Fundamentals Deck. Garcia has massive power potential. I know he HAS the power, but I'm not sure he will ever fully tap into it during games. I mean, he has never hit more than 14 in a season in the minors, and has 2 HR in 65 career MLB games. I think Avisail may play the speed/contact game more than he will try to hit a ton of HR. Plus, Starberry hit nearly 40 HR a few times.
  21. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) Strawberry probably isn't a bad comp actually. There are very few true five tool guys to use. Strawberry minus some power.
  22. Maggs? Shoooot. Avisail Garcia is Darryl Strawberrry!
  23. Holy s***, 800Razors.com is offering Brian Wilson $1M to shave his beard. f***ing hell man, take that RIGHT NOW. Use the excuse that you wanted a fresh start after the injury or leaving SF or whatever. Hell, my beard is pretty full right now, but looks like I need to hold out for some dough!
  24. I asked in the gamethread if anyone had any video of Avi beating out one of the grounders that he has beaten out already, and no one replied. But here, here is your amazing video evidence of how freakin fast this guy is. I could watch this 100 times.
  25. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Aug 22, 2013 -> 12:32 AM) I think that's a silly argument. Players are valued on their value. That includes potential, performance, past performance, age, etc. None of the guys were held in any high regard. Montas was average. At the time of the trade, these guys were either fringe prospects or C guys. Obviously, trades are assessed before and with hindsight. We can only make one of those judgments right now. Regardless of what players we got in return if people were told we traded Jake Peavy for a Avisail Garcia, and a third team's #23 prospect and 2 outside of their top 40 they would be upset with prospects in return. I said "right off the bat they are not high ceiling guys", meaning yes, right now they are nothing of value, but my point is that those 3 guys are just a bonus if any of them pan out, Garcia was the most valuable player for us traded in that entire deal, between the 3 teams. What I mean is, put all 8 of those guys up for grabs (or however many moved), and let the Sox pick 1 guy, they'd choose Garcia every time. I don't disagree that it would have been nicer to get Garcia + one other good prospect, instead of 3 fringe guys, but I don't think it's really a big deal when you consider we got Garcia and shed a good amount of money.
