His ERA is now a disgusting 1.59 ERA is 45 IP. Combined 2.01 ERA through 130 IP in AA and AAA. Just a dominating season. Can't wait to see him get a shot at the rotation in the spring.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 07:32 PM) My post was a bit sarcastic, I do enjoy the new stats, I just find it annoying that the first response to a post about Sale's WAR is "No, that one sucks, don't use it!" How are you supposed to have a good discussion about player value if that's the first thing that pops up? bWAR does suck, and we shouldn't use it. lol.

Soxtalk FANTASY FOOTBALL DRAFT TONIGHT
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to Steve9347's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Trade accepted. TE Tyler Eifert for WR Darius Heyward-Bay Also, created this dope logo for my real league. I think it's pretty clever. Not as cool as my Team Saadfather logo from the NHL season though. -
FoxSports1 I do like how they have more fun than ESPN, it's a looser look at sports, but right now I am watching Crowd Goes Wild, and this segment they are doing called "Pardon the Contradiction" has got to be the worst thing I've seen on a sports channel since NASCAR. Essentially two people are given topics back and forth and for 30 seconds they have to argue one side of a topic, then once a bell rings, they have to argue the opposite side of that point. It's horrible. It's just one person rambling on for 8-10 seconds about something, anticipating a bell, then contradicting themselves with another ramble back until the bell rings, then back to their first points. I like the network so far, but they've definitely have some kinks to iron out. Oh yeah, and in a Jose Iglesias highlight, they called our White Sox catch Josh "Phlegley"

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 05:39 PM) Agreed here. fWAR is best for starting pitchers, IMO. I'm not sure I like it for relievers, but at least it takes leverage index into account. When Ben Zobrist ranks as one of the best players in baseball, you know it's a flawed system. I've heard they are going to combine in to one exact calculation at some point, but it hasn't happened yet that I know of. The only flaw I've seen w/ fWAR is that they sometimes favor defense too heavily, but overall everyone seems to agree fWAR is overall far superior than bWAR, which, OF COURSE is the on ESPN cites, so people often discredit WAR all together once they see the funky things like Ben Zobrist being an MVP candidate.

QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Aug 19, 2013 -> 05:35 PM) Starting pitcher WAR doesn't make sense to me. A true ace is going to guarantee anywhere from 10-15 wins even on a bad team. I don't think you understand what WAR means, like, even what the letters stand for.

No he's not, STOP using bWAR.

What the hell, did the miss Vince Gilligan's preview of the next episode????

I'm going in to this more blind than I have ever done a draft before. This should be hilarious. -
QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 18, 2013 -> 11:32 AM) $400 to rip DVDs? Where do I sign up? I'm not sure exactly where, but someone I worked with this summer took her VHS's to a place to be transferred. They charged her $25 a tape! If I those 76 tapes for her, she'd owe me $1900! I heard Walmart's is like $20 for the 1st tape, and then $8 a tape after that.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Aug 17, 2013 -> 09:49 AM) Oh please, don't act like you are censored. Yes sir. -
Finished 76 videos before I headed off to school today. 5 more to go whenever I get back. That's $405 my dad owes me for this. At least I made SOMETHING this summer.

Adam Engel is 1/1, 18th SB.
-
Micah 2/4, 80th SB. Tim Anderson 2/4, HR, 21st SB. He is now 21 of 25 in SB. That's very nice.

Well, we lost our semi-final game and got eliminated. Defense made a whole host of stupid errors, but the fact that we only scored 1 run in 7 innings made that all moot. The only excuse I have is that we were missing 5 of our players, so we had fill-ins all over the place, but still, 1 run is horrid for anyone. -
I hated Singleton doing games, but I really liked him in the studio doing analysis with ESPN.
-
I'm actually very surprised by this.
-
Montas walked 7 batters. LOL.
-
Micah is 1/2, 18th SB with W-S, 79th on the year. Looks like he won't be getting to 100.

8/14/2013 White Sox vs. Tigers

Stone - "Miguel Cabrera is giving every effort he has on every play regardless of how he is feeling" Are you kidding me stoney? He doesn't run to 1B....on anything. You telling me if is maxing out his effort running to 1st? Hell no. He is taking it easy, which is fine, but no reason to pretend he is putting his health in danger by overexerting himself out there every play.
