  1. QUOTE (flavum @ May 9, 2013 -> 07:17 PM) Micah Johnson with a lead off triple, his 5th. Hope we have something here. 2nd AB he was HBP. He then steals 2nd....and then steals 3rd. 27/31 now in SB. This dude could really swipe 100 bags this year.
  2. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2013 -> 07:45 PM) Well, Lenny killed a girl. So, it wasnt that he was all that misunderstood as much as he was without George's supervision Spark notes should include that part Weird to think I would forget details of a book we were assigned to read back in High School....
  3. QUOTE (zenryan @ May 9, 2013 -> 06:54 PM) some clever people out there   Amazing.
  4. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ May 9, 2013 -> 06:37 PM) Where did this asshole come from? In reference to that quote alone, I would expect that comment from a handful of people here. Lots of snarky assholes on this board.
  5. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 9, 2013 -> 06:30 PM) He just wanted to pet the rabbits Ah god, poor guy. Having a niece and nephew who are mentally handicapped, I worry they will get in to situations where they are too misunderstood as well.
  6. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 9, 2013 -> 06:04 PM) I didn't add this - but the feed isn't even HD for these... Why can't they just do it like in the NHL? Have a central location that can review both of the feeds and make a decision quicker.
  7. QUOTE (kevo880 @ May 9, 2013 -> 05:50 PM) How often does a player have more runs scored than hits? Trayce has 29 runs and 26 hits this season. It is great to see that he is evening out his k/bb. currently at 28 K's and 21 BB. These #'s are more than likely from before this game was played today. Nah, those are after today's game. He's got a solid OBP (.347) when you consider that awful .222 average. And he is 8/9 in SB this year too. Would like to see some more power, but isn't BIR a pitchers park?
  8. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ May 9, 2013 -> 04:37 PM) Of Mice and Men > The Great Gatsby in terms of forced HS reads. Of Mice and Men was the one w/ George the mentally handicapped fellow, right? That was a sad story.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 9, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) It's about more than just a basic plot. Plot's just something to build your themes and ideas around. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:52 PM) Well we read chapters in class, did assignments on them, watch the movie. I know the story, I just found it really boring.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:55 PM) I never used Cliff notes. All of our teachers would make tests that you would fail if you used cliff notes, specific things in the books that the cliff notes would gloss over. There was really no point. And besides, by the time I had hit sophomore year, I had already read 1984, Animal Farm, of Mice and Men, The Great Gatsby, Flowers for Algernon etc. multiple times. I read the first three 7 years in a row starting in 6th grade. I actually think I read most of Animal Farm. The only books I ever recall reading cover to cover in any level of school was Night by Eli Wiesel, because I LOVE Holocaust stuff, and The Outsiders, because it was super entertaining. I just happen to be an exceptional test/quiz taker and essay bulls***ter. That s*** infuriates my friends/family.
  11. QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:53 PM) That was actually pretty fair. We're in someone else's virtual dining room eating their virtual food, and when we start throwing our virtual food around and playing in it then they make us go outseide and play out there for a little while in the dirt where that kidn of behavior is more appropriate. I really enjoyed that visual, actually.
  12. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:48 PM) Because reading a book is so hard. More like because reading Spark Notes is easier.
  13. QUOTE (farmteam @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:20 PM) Wait, are you saying the book was boring based off the Spark Notes of the book? If that's the case, you didn't find the Great Gatsby to be extremely boring. You found the Spark Notes version of the Great Gatsby to be extremely boring. Well we read chapters in class, did assignments on them, watch the movie. I know the story, I just found it really boring.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:27 PM) Did you forget the other one already? Is that an insult? EERRRMMMAAGUURRDD, SUSPEND HIM!
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:29 PM) I would imagine they would re-start the game from the point at which the missed call occurred, except, with the correct call made. Which is entirely too much trouble for both the MLB and the players. And would the line-ups have to be the same? Or could you all the sudden move your hitters around to fit a more favorable order for the bottom of the 9th? I guess my point is that no one should have ever expected a reversal anyway.
  16. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:22 PM) This shoudn't surprise anybody--MLB is never going to overturn a judgment call, no matter how bad it was. The only thing that is going to get overturned is a misapplication of a rule. How would that even work, anyway? I can understand if it would have been the walk-off run, but how would it have worked in this scenario?
  17. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:21 PM) And a suspension is like ARRESTING SOMEONE. It's called a simile. Now you have learned TWO things today! No.
  18. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ May 9, 2013 -> 02:04 PM) I'm sorely mistaken. This right here is the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen. Dude was calling people idiots and morons and you boo the suspension? That's like breaking into a person's house, stealing their TV, and then wondering why the cops are arresting you. Yeah dude, calling people names on an internet message board is JUST like ROBBING A PERSON'S HOUSE. Nicely done. Also, try to tone down the outrageous hyperbole. You've done it multiple times recently. Wasn't that an issue on this board last year?
  19. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 9, 2013 -> 01:40 PM) Well, suspended implies temporary, while banned implies permanent. See, you've learned something new today....go home and tell your mom! Right, I understand, it's just not the vernacular I'm used to using on message boards. It was just out of habit.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ May 9, 2013 -> 01:27 PM) I think he just got a little time off... He was clearly determined to get in trouble... QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ May 9, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) He didnt get banned. Cant imagine why anyone would have a problem with time off considering how many people he insulted in that short span of posts Alright, suspended is what I meant. This is the only board I'm on that uses the word "suspended", my bad. But still, booooooo.
  21. Am I the only one who found The Great Gatsby book in HS to be extremely boring? I mean, I'll admit I only read about 5% of the assigned books throughout grade school/high school/college, but I remember the Spark Notes being incredibly boring w/ that book. I guess I just don't get it, or I'm not cultured enough.
  22. QUOTE (daggins @ May 8, 2013 -> 09:34 PM) The problem is that, by all accounts i've read, Phegley is barely a catcher. Might be inclined to give him a crack at some platoon DH though, since Dunn is somehow worse off than Flowers right now. If Phegley is barely a catcher, then maybe he can split 1B next year with Dunn once Paulie leaves.
  23. I don't understand why Gillaspie isn't our #2 hitter. What about him says he isn't a solid fit for the #2 hole, besides lack of good speed? Lefty, handles the bat well, doesn't strike out a ton, leads the team in OBP, has gap power, I just think he is such a natural fit for that 2-hole. What am I forgetting?
  24. Winston-Salem Dash ‏@WSDashBaseball 8m Joey DeMichele clubs a walk-off 3-R HR, and the Dash win 12-9! Winston-Salem has still never been swept in 68 all-time sets at BB&T Ballpark
