Game Thread 4/26: TB @ SOX
QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 05:49 PM) That's crazy. It means either he is getting extremely unlucky, he is making a ton of weak contact, or he is hitting in to the shift a lot.

Slow pitch softball thread
Found an internship at home, so I'll be able to return for my 5th season of slow-pitch. Pretty pumped. We also got a full sponsorship for league fees, so that's fun.

Santiago for 5th starter
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 26, 2013 -> 10:17 AM) So it really bothers you when Axelrod does well? If you are supposedly a White Sox fan, the villification is justified. I think Santiago, if he were in Axelrod's position, would be very happy with the results so far. One bad outing. No, I never said that. I said in that game a week or two ago that a 10-8 Sox win in which Axelrod gives up 8 runs would be a perfect scenario because the Sox would get the win, the bullpen would have dominated, the offense would have obviously dominated, and it may give Santiago the chance to steal Axe's job. This was the start following the outing against WAS in which Axe was just awful.

Santiago for 5th starter
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Apr 23, 2013 -> 10:44 PM) Facetiousness ? Sarcasm ? Replace a dominant starter ? Sarcasm, because I was vilified in one of the game threads for saying I wanted the Sox to win 10-8, but for Axelrod to get shelled, so then Santiago could take his spot. I was told it's insane, unjust, and flat out wrong to ever hope a player does anything but succeed for my team, regardless of the benefits from a poor performance.

Fun with numbers.... Adam Dunn's BABIP is .095 right now. LESS than 1 of every 10 balls he puts in to play are resulting in a hit. Wow.

Your luckiest HR of the 2013 season
http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/the-seasons...ome-run-so-far/ And of course....it was Nick Swisher off Chris Sale. That one hurts. Last season, Delmon Young's 3-run HR off Sale was also the LOWEST pitch hit for a HR on the year, I think it was something like 6 inches off the dirt. Looks like Sale gets a bit unlucky on HRs.

No bunt with Gillaspie? I realize he is arguably our best contact hitter this year, but I'm sure he ACTUALLY knows how to bunt.

AJ had more pain tolerance than Paulie? Paulie has been hit in the face with a pitch.....twice, and stayed in the game both times.

Well thank God Robin didn't leave Thornton in to give up a bomb to Reynolds. +1 Robin.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 04:17 PM) Lexi with the high IQ slide there. Juan Pierre did it with so much frequency, it always surprised me other guys don't do it.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 04:10 PM) Despite recent setbacks, the Sox bullpen still has the 4th best ERA in MLB (2nd best in the AL). Speaking of Bullpen ERAs...... Cardinals have the #1 Starter ERA (2.38), and the #29 Bullpen ERA (5.37). Crazy.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Apr 24, 2013 -> 03:51 PM) So game cast is showing Konerko's fly out as being past the wall. Is it off that far or what happened here? Stubbs climbed up on the fan deck to catch it.

Kepp starting to normalize that BABIP. It was unsustainable that he would be THAT unlucky all season.
