Offical Soxtalk All-Star festivities thread
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (DaveBrown85 @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 09:49 PM) I heard that Peavy was only going to pitch if it went into extra innings. Anyone know about Dunn? There's a chance he could bat for Butler in the 9th, but then the Royals fans would send death threats to Dunn's family. -

Also, I really wanted to see Sale K someone on a loopy slurve, not just a straight fastball. -

That was pretty cool how they barely even acknowledged that Sale was on the mound. Talked about Chipper and RA Dickey the whole half inning. Production crew even gave close-ups of Sale to spark conversation, and nothing. Solid work, FOX, promote the players we all already know, and keep quiet about the budding superstars that are unknown to most of the fans. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 08:41 PM) Yeah, still...Sale > any of those players this year that aren't Trout. Obviously, but they were just making a point about the rookies. -

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 10, 2012 -> 08:39 PM) Why is Sale not on the "next generation of stars" thing? I thought that too, but then I realized they were showing the 5 rookies who made the All-Star team. Sale is not a rookie. -

Good thing Ron Washington picked Matt Harrison over Jake Peavy when he originally picked the rosters. Just a greeeeeeeeeeat choice. Crack is a helluva drug, Ron. -
I'm very Irish, and obviously am drawn to this thread. I had family that lived in Dublin about 10 years ago, and we went to go visit them back in 2003. Stayed in Dublin for a few days, and also traveled around the coast. It was my all-time favorite vacation, and I can't wait to go back when I'm older! Our family is very much in to the Irish heritage, and I've got the brown hair/eyes and freckles to prove it! Ha. Welcome! So, have you heard of the Dublin Black Sox, an amatuer baseball team in Dublin? They use the old White Sox logo as their own, and were actually nice enough to send me a free Dublin Black Sox fitted hat some years ago. I don't know if you have Facebook or not, but this is their team site. Maybe you can catch a few games and see if anyone on the team has a common interest in the Chicago White Sox! (I'm sure some of them do). http://www.facebook.com/groups/158516702215/

This Terance Marin guy is pretty awesome, apparently.

Nice.

Verlander chosen to start ASG. Likely to pitch a complete game.
-
I'd totally give them Viciedo + Reed + Mitchell, but no way in hell I'm including Sale in any deal that isn't getting a young pitcher in return as well. Sale + Viciedo + Reed for Upton + Skaggs? Now you're talking. But this is all just insane talk anyway.

9-3 w/ Youk though.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 06:54 PM) He also had the winning hit in the blowout in Minnesota I honestly think he has had the GW RBI in 5 straight games. All 3 against Rangers, and first two of Jays series.

3/4 for Saladino.

Black Panther movie announced. Was that a real comic book hero?

QUOTE (OilCan @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 11:33 AM) Goldstein is quickly becoming another Keith Law in my book. His tweets would disparage anyone who debates him. I guess Wins doesn't equal "Impact Guys" in his book, does it? Guess what Q is doing doesn't "Impact" the team. Same goes for Jones, Reed, etc. I guess it just makes their job(s) HARDER to actually rate talent based off of more than what's on the back of their baseball card. Hope the White Sox continue to show these idiots that they're wrong. The problem with him is that his tweets rarely if ever, answer the question. He talks in riddles, seemingly, and gives very vague answers. I get it's twitter and he has to limit character count, but he doesn't give much of an answer, and I ALWAYS see him answer the dumb questions. I got in to it with him a few days ago because I wanted him to answer how the worst farm system in baseball the past few years had 10 rookies on it, and were in 1st place. This likely requires more than a 1 word answer, so he choose not to answer it, and instead was answering idiotic questions unrelated to baseball..... @JoeCoolMan24 @Kevin_Goldstein How does the worst farm system in MLB each year have 10 rookies on their team, and are in 1st place? No response after I tweeted this to him 3 times. No big deal, I'm sure he gets a lot of tweets he can't answer, but I started to get annoyed when he was answering dumb questions instead..... @JoeCoolMan24 @JoeCoolMan24 @Kevin_Goldstein Guess I forgot to give you a softball question you'd be able to answer. I'll try to dumb it down next time. @Kevin_Goldstein @JoeCoolMan24 #Butthurt Using middle school internet tactics to be a pest. So clearly he saw my question, but instead of answering it, went the super immature route....so I replied back and that was the end of it. @JoeCoolMan24 @Kevin_Goldstein And then you follow it up by answering..."who would win in a fight between buster olney and jon heyman?" Nicely done.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (th0mas35 @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 10:52 AM) Does anyone think that taking mid-season breaks may do more harm than good? This isn't exactly an exact science.. I don't know the exact dates, but I feel like he has been just as awesome before and after his little 2 week break from the rotation. -
QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Jul 7, 2012 -> 08:44 AM) I finished the first season of Breaking Bad last night. It's a good show, but I'm not sure what all the hype is about. Season 2 must pick it up, right? Every season gets better.

2012 White Sox Catch-All thread
ChiliIrishHammock24 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Kenny said that Chris Sale is going to get at least 1 more "two week break" at some point in the season to give him a rest and hopefully delay his shutdown at the end of the season. Now that last half was speculation on my part, but the "two week break" was straight from Kenny. -

QUOTE (oldsox @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 10:52 PM) Dunn will strike out in the Home run Derby. Dunn didn't get picked for the HR Derby. -
QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 6, 2012 -> 11:09 PM) Someone needs to bump the thread I've made early in the season when Phil Rodgers first suggested this idea.
