  1. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ May 16, 2012 -> 04:53 PM) Wow, sounds so much like Patrick Kane. I guess since Lawrie wasn't wasted he doesn't get a free pass from you. A "reality check" is exactly what Patrick Kane needs. I don't remember Patrick Kane making ridiculous claims to the media about how cocky he was and that he would be called up when he wants to be called up, etc. I see what you are trying to do here, but you are failing miserably.
  2. How many times did people have this discussion about Alexei in April/May? I don't know what it is, but there seems to be proof to our Cubans not hitting well to start the season. I'm not totally surprised that Dayan would be flashing power in a nice warm place like California. Just hope for a warm summer and watch him drop 20-25 HR this season.
  3. So right after I comment on this thread, I get a phone call from our best power hitter saying he hurt his hand and can't play our double header tonight. Ugh. I got a replacement, but we got killed both games. Lost 13-6, and then 16-2. I went 3/5 at the plate. I accidentally muscled up and blast one deep to right center field, and the outfielder made a great running grab on it. Blaaahh. And yes, I DO keep personal stats for myself each game! Not RBIs, because thats too hard to remember sometimes, but batting AVG. I was 4/5 in our first game, 1/3 in our second, and 2/2 in our third. So I'm 7 for 10 on the season. Not too shabby, batting .700.
  4. 22-year-old Blair Walters has been filthy this year. 2.84 ERA, 44 IP, 32 H, 11 BB, 47 K, 0.97 WHIP That's a 9.61 K/9, 2.25 BB/9, 4.27 K/BB. I'm thinking he shouldn't be too long for a promotion to High-A Winstom-Salem. At age 22, he is probably too good for Low-A.
  5. Heidi has 37 K to 8 BB in 50 IP. That will work. That 1.16 WHIP is nice too.
  6. I love when Rios smashes those linedrives to right center. Looks so natural and easy for him.
  7. Ok, I am having a brain fart here. A save opportunity comes when a team is up by 3 runs or less, or when a reliever comes in and if you assumed all the runners on base were runs, the team would be up by 3 runs or less, right? Say Wells doesn't rob that HR and the Sox are up by 6 runs. If Thornton loads the bases, and then Reed comes in, that becomes a save opportunity, right?
  8. Thornton on the 8th. Well, I guess Addison Reed may get his save opportunity afterall.
  9. f*** you Vernon Wells! Damnit. Robbed a HR from Beckham.
  10. Jones has some sick movement on his pitches. 98 MPH that moves like that is unfair. If he can hone it all and locate, we may have found a diamond in the rough.
  11. I get that Pujols does his usual stare at the homerun and pose thing, but that's only ok when you are hitting like the best player in baseball. When you are sucking it up, you don't need to pose for a ball that goes 5 feet over the wall.
  12. As as soon as we mention it, Sale goes all sliders to Trumbo.
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2012 -> 05:41 PM) Seriously, it's what Seattle did with King Felix, just had him not throw the slider his first year or two. If that pitch is extra stress...strengthen and adapt the arm first this year then turn him loose once the soreness has passed. IIRC, they had an age limit on the pitch. Like he wasn't allowed to throw it until he was like 21 or something. They had him in their system since he was like 16 maybe.
  14. Hahaha, another infielder that dropped a pop up by the Angels. Lol. Making Beckham look like a superstar in the field.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2012 -> 05:34 PM) You know what? If his arm isn't conditioned for the slider right now, then don't throw it. Get the arm used to throwing 7 inning games first. Pretty much what Stoney said, but in jest. He said one way to limit hurting your arm with a slider is to just not throw any more sliders.
  16. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ May 17, 2012 -> 05:34 PM) What is on the new patch the Sox are wearing? I haven't noticed it, but I would assume something for Kevin Hickey?
  17. There you go De Aza. Leadoff men need to just get on base, by any means.
  18. QUOTE (Jake @ May 17, 2012 -> 05:32 PM) Sale needs to use his whole arsenal I honestly don't recall a single slurve he has thrown today. Seems to be all fastballs and change-ups.
  19. Alright. Sale at around 92 pitches or so. Let him start the 6th, and take him out if he gets in trouble. Get Nate Jones ready.
  20. If Beckham could hit a little, he would have a handful of gold gloves in his future.
  21. QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ May 17, 2012 -> 05:13 PM) Worse contract: Danks or Wilson? Wilson. Age factor.
  22. Steve Stone: "You see, the game plan here is just to hit a pop up anywhere near Howie Kendrick". Hahaha, love Stoney.
