I predicted 86 wins at the beginning of the year, so 7-7 is what we need to get there. I'm looking pretty good on that one. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 10:57 PM) That was a blatant delay of game. Yep, but like I said, all I can do is laugh. No sense of getting pissed that we just got f***ed over by the play clock in a season that was never actually going anywhere. 4-7 or 5-6, it won't matter in the end. -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 05:42 PM) Thing is we fell out of the race so rapidly that Manny didn't get the chance to help or hurt us. Yeah, we went 7-0 with Manny to start, and then now we are like 2-9 or something. I didn't see people saying we were 7-0 because of him, so why are people saying we are 2-9 because of him? He hasn't been on the team long enough to have that big of an impact. It was a bad acquisition in the end, but not because of anything he has done or hasn't done. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 05:49 PM) Wow, fans are booing Manny big time! I wonder how Greg feels about this, being that he hates Manny, but also being that he thinks booing a player is classless and makes our fan base look bad. -

Infante sure looked real good in this inning. Has a very, very solid looking change-up that I don't know if the Tigers hitters even made contact with. Was throwing it about 86, which is 11 MPH slower than his fastball, which is "supposedly" the optimal speed difference between a FB and CH. Not sure why, but that's just what I've heard. -

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 04:41 PM) Fans always find that appeasing. They think he really cared. I just don't want him to be a headcase and freak out about games, especially ones that don't matter anymore. -

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) First HR Sale gave up in the majors, correct? he was due. Yep. Then he came in the dugout and slammed his mitt down at the bench. Not sure I want to see that out of him. -

Ouch, Sale just got tattoo'd by a Scott Sizemore (WTF?) homerun to LF. He crushed it.... Good job by Leyland going for the righty-lefty matchup by taking out Rhymes. -

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 04:05 PM) Still a longshot with KW, but maybe... just maybe.. well... slightly... we might be looking at those two in our IF, with the Cubans. How has Morel looked BTW? I have not watched this game of course, but still would like to see how he's adjusting. Hasn't had many opportunities today at 3B, but has made them all smoothly. At the plate he has looked calm, and really yet to make a bad swing. He really looked nice stroking that double to left-center field gap. One-hopped the wall. His 3rd AB he was frozen on a big hook by Verlander. Not much to do w/ that pitch. I'm pleased. -
QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 04:00 PM) Why not? If the Ozzie/Walker haters used the same standards and apply them to Coop, he should be the out the door. Outside of having a reputation most on this staff (long term) have shown more signs of regression. So his reputation has overshadowed his works. The pitching staff is the #1 reason why they might finish in 2nd and hopefully not 3rd. Because I would rather have Cooper as our pitching coach than LaRussa as our manager.

QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) Yuck. Well, it's not like we are going to move Pierre anywhere. And quite frankly, he has been a pretty decent player for us.

LOL at the announcer (not Gracie) calling AJ the Pierzinstigator. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 18, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) Well, I think we can at least say Colby Rasmus wouldn't be signing with the White Sox at any point. I have been thinking about how great it would be to add Rasmus since that "trade me" incident. Pierre-Rios-Rasmus OF would be great.

Man, the umpire is giving Verlander any call he wants. Konerko and Manny both strike out looking at pitches out of the zone, and both walk away disgusted..... Has to be feeling good to be Verlander right now. -

Also, any reason why Beckham hasn't played the last 3 days? Just giving him a break to not risk any injury and let his hand heal? That's what I assume.... -

LOL Teahen would be the one to break up the perfect game. I was rooting for a strikeout. -
QUOTE (flavum @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 08:22 PM) Season ovah. http://web.minorleaguebaseball.com/milb/st...ox&did=milb J4L is fist pumping like a mad man right now.

I don't want LaRussa if it means no more Cooper like some people are saying.
-
I think in this situation it's called a "tragic" number.

QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 11:56 PM) I don't have to generalize to make him look bad. The guy hasn't gotten a hit in a clutch situation in his entire time here, and he's had plenty of chances. ONE RBI. Thome had an amazing OBP most years too. So what? When you're old, fat, and slow, how does getting on base really help the team, unless you've got guys batting behind you that can string together 3-4 hits in a row? Manny is as base to base as Thome was. So what you're telling me is Manny is a great leadoff hitter, if only he was fast, could play the field, steal bases, and actually do something productive once he got on base? Awesome. Stats don't tell the whole story, sorry. They never do. On Sept 4th, against Buchholz, he got a hit with Konerko on 2nd, in the 4th inning, and the Sox were down 0-1. Konerko, being Konerko, was not able to score on the single. Blame Manny for not hitting the ball softer?

QUOTE (CQMVP @ Sep 17, 2010 -> 11:34 PM) It took him fifteen games to get his first RBI, and it came in the form of a HR. He has 14 SO in 15 games. He has ZERO extra base hits. He has scored an amazing....four runs, one of which was a home run... Every critical situation he has come up to bat in, he has pretty much struck out. What have YOU been watching to think that Manny has been ANY help to this team, whatsoever? All that for a measely million dollars a week. As I said, he should just retire. He's been a shell of his former self since he got caught juicing and got suspended. Maybe he should go back to juicing. At least then he'd be useful to us... as you don't have to pay him when he's suspended. His "shell" has put up about an .850 OPS since he got caught on birth pills or w/e it was. In case you were wondering, only Konerko has a higher OPS than that. But yeah, he sucks, retire, and taking 7 of our other starters with you into retirement I guess.
