  1. I just don't think Pereira is much of anything because he can't stay on the field. We'll see if Doyle is any better.
  2. Between a C & a B, so I went B to err on the positive side. I like the reliever trade a lot. Bart they didn't give up much for, is a pretty good defender, and isn't a good hitter but is LIGHT YEARS better than Romo and Quero. I think Doyle is worth a look and it sounds like there was some competition for him. Don't really care much for what they gave up either. Also the usual suspects here hate the move and that automatically makes it better. Castillo is mixed to me. I'm glad they didn't shy away from taking on money, I'm glad they got rid of Dominguez, I think Boston Smith is nothing special as a prospect, but they'd better hope they can fix Castillo and get him back to at least a halfway decent starter. It's also funny how much people hate losing Pereira all of a sudden after one good game. If he was DFA'd before yesterday's game people would be celebrating. I would also rather have kept him, but it's not really worth worrying about. He was the best of some meh options.
  3. That's what I get for trusting other people online. Oh well. The rest of what I said is still true.
  4. Quero has options left, Romo doesn't. Quero gets consistent playing time without pressure, Bart plays most of the time, and Romo is gone for good when Teel comes back.
  5. With his defensive ability if he puts up near a 100 wRC+ he's a valuable player. We'll see if the Sox are right about him.
  6. I don't get the Angels not trading Detmers. I'm not one to value prospects over real producing major leaguers, but that whole organization needs to be blown up and having Detmers still there is pointless for them. Maybe they think they can get more in the offseason? The Reds are also a head scratcher. They have no chance in the NL Central. Maybe a shot at a wild card, but they're so flawed they're not going anywhere in the postseason.
  7. How DARE you?!
  8. I really don't think Doyle was a bad move. I think he's a buy low guy and it's clear we need help in CF without much else coming up. Definitely worth a shot to see if he's back to anywhere near what he was in 2024. I want us to be in that "oh no don't trade with the Rays White Sox" boat
  9. I thought Ballesteros was their next great slugger?
  10. Looks like someone bit way harder on that fake Detmers to the Cubs report than we did
  11. Same. If I'm choosing between two guys who are always hurt I'm picking the younger one, and Grichuk is lost at the plate since his hot streak. He looks done and I don't think they can afford to carry him any longer.
  12. Maybe, he hit well in his rehab and his first two games back in the majors continued that trend, so hopefully the injuries are behind him.
  13. I'm mostly fine with it. Adams probably a bullpen guy (and it ain't gonna get better for him in Coors), and the other guy is whatever. Buying upside with Doyle makes sense if you think you can fix his struggles and that the injuries this year caused him to hit so poorly. Center field looks like a platoon now.
  14. Yeah well it’s August now baby! Time to turn over a new leaf!
  15. I don't much care about what the Sox gave up - Boston Smith I would've rather used for someone better but its not a huge deal. Getting rid of Dominguez makes Castillo more like 12 mil next year. He was a mistake and I'm glad they got rid of him. Nolan Jones is whatever. What's alarming is Castillo has been BAD. As I posted earlier, the Baseball Savant pitch values reflect his poor performance so it's not fluky either. He's also leaving a pitcher's paradise and a team that knows how to handle pitchers. Feel like this isn't going to work out too well for us. Sure hope I'm wrong and the Sox can get him back to even a 4 ERA guy. Didn't Castillo have a top tier changeup? What the hell happened to that? He still has good fastball velocity.
  16. Yeah I don't know. On the surface this is trading for a guy who isn't a starter anymore. I sure hope they see something they can fix.
  17. Castillo SUCKS this year. Don't really get it.
  18. Their closer's career ERA is 3.46. At 1.48 there's a LOT of room for regression to the mean in this half inning.
  19. And then he takes strike three solidly in the zone.
