  1. Danks looks like he got some new teeth this offseason. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/baseb...73.photogallery
  2. This Morel thing is just to light the fire under him during spring training. He can't tell Morel that he has the job even though he does. As long as he isn't pitiful with the bat in March, Morel will be there on opening day. Pierzynski batting 6th? I suppose the lineup can be fluid 6-9, but I hope Quentin earns his way back up to 6th, and AJ can go to 8, especially if Morel is batting 9th.
  3. Pretty nice list. Good call on McCann. I think he may be quietly building a Hall of Fame career, and nobody knows it yet.

    He's throwing off a mound. http://www.chicagobreakingsports.com/2011/...rogressing.html
  5. 14 non-roster invites: Pitchers: Brian Bruney, Jeff Gray, Josh Kinney, Shane Lindsay, Miguel Socolovich, Kyle Bellamy, Brandon Hynick, Charlie Leesman Catchers: Josh Phegley, Donny Lucy, Jared Price Outfield: Jordan Danks, Brandon Short Infielder: Dallas McPherson
  6. Sox claimed Phil Humber off waivers from Oakland.
  7. Spring Broadcast Schedule. http://espn.go.com/blog/chicago/white-sox/...adsact-schedule
  8. Recap and Preview are two different things. They did the 2010 recap a couple weeks ago. They'll do the 2011 preview during spring training.
  9. They did the Sox recap already. I think they were second a couple weeks ago.
  10. Pitchers and catchers report a month from today, and the first spring training game is 6 weeks from today. There's your warm thought for the day.
  11. I wonder if they're kicking around the idea of making Viciedo a corner outfielder. I have a lot of confidence in Morel, and Konerko and Dunn have 1B covered the next 3 years. Might be a good idea for Viciedo to play left or right field this year at Charlotte.
  12. Some of you are real paranoid about Frank getting in on the first ballot. He's a lock. Trust me. Well over 75%. Guarantee it.
  13. Not sure if anyone posted this before, but White Sox pitchers and catchers report on February 17. Full squad reports on Feb. 22. http://mlb.fanhouse.com/2011/01/11/spring-...kusspor00000002 79 Days until Opening Day in Cleveland!
  14. Josh Kinney has also been rumored to be one of the NRIs. He had a decent year at AAA Memphis in 2010. 1.80 ERA in 60 innings. 51 K's and WHIP under 1.
  15. Vizquel deserves it. Great defense, pretty good hitter-he'll have over 2800 hits and 400 stolen bases. Played for winning teams. His career is very much like Luis Aparicio, and I'm sure nobody thought he was one of the top five offensive players during his career.
  16. Over the next four years, I expect Adam Dunn to continue what he's been doing, only in US Cellular Field. Walk 100 times and hit 40+ homers every year, and the rest should take care of itself.
  17. I've come around on Raines. Maybe it's because he wasn't that good the last 6-7 years of his career, when he was mostly a role player. But the Montreal years were awesome, and he had some good years with the Sox, too. He belongs.
  18. Beckham on Twitter. Don't do it, Gordon. http://twitter.com/scottmerkin/status/23075410036137984
  19. Frank's going in on the first ballot. I have no doubt. It may be low 80's percentage because of some voting snobs, but he'll be over 75%.
  20. Alexei doesn't start hitting until the middle of May, so if Beckham looks good in spring training, he should get another shot at the 2-hole.

I started noticing at 48 on the sauce bottle. When Barney had the thing that said 47th annual whatever, I knew something was up. It was distracting me from the actual show looking for the countdown, but it was a pretty good episode in a sub-par season.
  22. God, this guy is dumb.
  23. http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/press...sp&c_id=cws Charlotte--Joe McEwing Birmingham-Bobby Magallenes Winston Salem- Julio Vinas Kannapolis- Tommy Thompson Bristol- Peter Rose, Jr. Great Falls- Ryan Newman
  24. Pete Rose Jr will manage Bristol. I think this is the move that will put the Sox minor league system over the top.

QUOTE (Chet Kincaid @ Dec 18, 2010 -> 02:27 AM) I'm not a naysayer, I just want him to shut up and pitch. I want him to dominate and be the ace we need him to be. I want opposing teams to fear him when he comes to the mound. I want twins, yankees and red cub fans to be like "f***, PEAVY IS GOING TONIGHT" before important games down the stretch. I couldn't care less what he says. I'm in this camp. I hope he can come back and dominate for a stretch--hopefully September and October, but I'm expecting him to come back too soon, and then hurt his shoulder even more than it probably already is. I just don't trust the guy to stay healthy.
