QUOTE (SonofaRoache @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 11:18 PM) It's over man. The Sox can't seem to do anything right these days. This win sucked because Yoan had the bomb but our youth of the future wasn't the big part of it. If they don't get at least a top two pick this season is a failure. No reason to be winning so many useless games when other teams are tanking hard. I agree it's over in regards to top 3, but 4th isn't a failure. Starting the season 15-12 got them Rutherford and a couple other guys. And then they actually did go out and play a month at 4-23. That stretch is still netting a very high pick.

Sox and Reds have 17 combined games. 6 have to be Sox losses or Reds wins for the Sox to get the 4th pick. That better happen.

The Tigers are getting a top 2 pick. I have no doubt about that.

Trade avi in the offseason?
Tough call, but if they didn't envision him being part of the team they are trying to create, they need to be open to trading Garcia (and Abreu). I don't know what his value is out there with other teams, but they obviously need to listen this offseason. And of course, do not extend him now. That's the last thing they should do.

QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Sep 22, 2017 -> 01:03 PM) It would be helpful for the Giants, Phillies, and Tigers to all go 5-4 in their last 9. Then the #1 pick would only require 4-6. If the Sox go 4-6, I will have no complaints about their pick position. It's just too bad the Tigers have a terrible roster and they've given up--including Ausmus.

It would be so White Sox if they go 6-4 and the Reds go 1-8...and the Sox drop to 5th.

At this point, I'd be happy if the Tigers go 3-6 and the Sox go 4-6. That would get the 3rd pick. But deep down, you know the Sox are dropping to 4th.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 04:03 PM) Not unreasonable for a HS draft pick. That would make him 24 years old. That's a little long but not unreasonable. If a 1-1 out of high school didn't get to the bigs until 24, that's not what the parent club had in mind when they drafted him.

27 games is a month's worth of baseball games. The Indians just played a month's worth of games at 26-1. Simply incredible. They are 89-43 vs AL teams this season.

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 09:30 AM) Wouldn't cubs Dodgers be the division series? Unless the Dodgers blow a 3.5 game lead to the Nationals, it will be Nats/Cubs and Dodgers/Wild Card. Divisions don't matter anymore. It changed when they went two wild cards. Mods- can you change thread title so it's more general to both leagues? Thanks.

QUOTE (Jimmy3Putt @ Sep 21, 2017 -> 05:53 AM) Wait, didn't the Giants have a better record than us last year? Shouldn't that give us the tie breaker with them? Yes. The Sox are a game behind (ahead) the Giants now. Even in wins, two in the loss column. Any combination of Sox losses and Giants wins equal to 11 gives the Sox a better pick. Same against the Phillies.

If the Sox lose this, they'll be worse than the Phillies, but still would have to be a half game worse the rest of the season. I love Abreu, but don't homer.

2017 MLB Catch-All Thread
Todd Frazier hit a foul ball that hit a young girl today. Hopefully she is ok, but it pisses me off when parents bring really young kids, let alone babies, to games and sit that close. It's time they have netting in every park. No excuses, MLB. It's time.
