  1. Erik Johnson and Matt Davidson are the same. They have some talent, but they can't quite get over the hump.
  2. Who had Bonifacio getting an RBI before Eaton this season?
  3. Outrighted to Charlotte today.
  4. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 10, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) No way in hell Carroll should be in the rotation. His value comes as a long reliever/spot starter. Rely on him for six or seven innings on a regular basis and he'll get beat up just as badly as Danks & Noesi. At this point, it needs to be Danks, Samardzija, Sale, Quintana, Rodon, with maybe a spot start on May 22 and 28 for Noesi and Carroll.
  5. Ok, next 27 go 16-11...get back to .500, with four months left. GO!
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 10, 2015 -> 11:14 AM) IP alone isn't abuse. It all depends on how he worked up to the 250 IP in years past. You have to work up to a marathon, but it is routinely done. Starting pitching is no different. Guys could throw 300 IP if they were trained for it. That may be, but there's no way Fernandez pitched anywhere near 250 innings in 1989 ( I looked it up, 148). I think it's safe to say, they went overboard with him immediately, and it probably cost him better years that followed, and possibly a longer career. Plus, you know, food. I get they need to be smart with Rodon, but you also don't want to be too passive with him. But this is probably moot when the Sox fall out of it.
  7. Well, this may answer who is starting on Friday. I doubt they would pitch Noesi today if he were starting him Friday, even with regular rest. https://twitter.com/JJStankevitz/status/597432204361359361
  8. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 10, 2015 -> 10:56 AM) Ok. they can do this. Just don't scream and yell about how stupid they are when it happens. that innings total is very high for someone who hasn't pitched more than about 130 innings in college when he can take breaks with below average hitters and teams. He must now up the intensity for MLB hitters and throw significantly more innings? This is not the correct way to handle pitchers and the sox will not do it. I'm not saying abuse him. But there needs to be a balance of what's good for him and good for the team. In my opinion, monitoring him as they go, 160 in the regular season, and 30 more in the postseason isn't abuse. Alex Fernandez pitched 250 innings as a 20 year old in 1990. That's abuse.
  9. QUOTE (ptatc @ May 10, 2015 -> 10:48 AM) No he cannot handle 190 innings. Physically it will not be good on his body plus he weill be so worn out he would probably be useless. The Sox cannot force that type of jump in innings and not put him at signifcant injury risk. Spread out over the next 5.5 months, you don't know what he can or cannot handle. His performance will answer that. Right now, the Sox need wins. If the Sox are out of it on September 15, by all means, shut him down. But if his stuff is good and he's feeling ok in a pennant race, he needs to pitch. 190 through a World Series isn't that high.
  10. QUOTE (Alexeihyeess @ May 10, 2015 -> 10:45 AM) So do I start todays GT even though they lost half the DH? Do it
  11. QUOTE (scs787 @ May 10, 2015 -> 10:25 AM) Would there be some negative effective from skipping his start once every few weeks? 26 starts at 5.33 innings per start is 138. I'd protect him by pulling him early in games where he stinks...and that'll happen once in a while. He's a big kid. He should be able to handle 190 innings if the Sox somehow make it deep into October.
  12. Levine is talking like the Sox will shut down Rodon at 150 innings...I'm pretty sure he means 150 major league innings, which would mean 160 total innings. He's at 22 innings now, which would leave 138. Double edged sword...you need him to win, but will it be a Strasburg situation come September? Personally, I start him Friday in Oakland. Maybe come September 160 turns into 180.
  13. QUOTE (Mike F. @ May 10, 2015 -> 09:39 AM) It was an 8-2 game in the top of the 9th inning. There is literally no other time that would've been more perfect for his debut other than that situation. Let him get a feel for things. If he got into trouble, then bring in Robertson. He was brought up to give 4-5 innings if they needed it. They didn't need it.
  14. QUOTE (Bigsoxhurt35 @ May 10, 2015 -> 08:15 AM) We're into May and still suck. They need to turn it around quickly. I look at 27 games as a month of games. They have five months of games left starting today. And yes, they do need to get hot right now. The next 14 games before the 11-game road trip are crucial to go 9-5, at minimum.
  15. 11-16 95 runs scored (3.52 avg) 132 runs allowed (4.89 avg) Starting pitchers- 12 quality starts 147.33 innings, 5.25 ERA Bullpen- 89 innings, 3.44 ERA Hitting slash- .247/.303/.360/.663 It was a bad month, but a bad month doesn't make a season. And it easily could have been worse. They need to have 5 months of 15-12 to win 86 games, and that may win a wild card this season. It's not over yet. I think this team is capable of going 75-60 starting today.

  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 9, 2015 -> 12:37 PM) I don't think Rodon lasts that long, he had 2 starts this year in the minors and went 5 innings in each one, the last one was on April 16, so more than 3 weeks ago. Since then he's had outings of 2.1, 1, and 3 innings. I just don't think his arm is going to be built up for 80-100 pitches. Depending on stressful innings, he could probably go 90.
  19. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 9, 2015 -> 12:24 PM) No. Sweep them. Beating Cueto would be nice. 2nd game 26th men- Chris Beck, and Pedro Villarreal for the Reds.
  20. Since they think Bryant is the savior, he's at 90 plate appearances without a homer. Frank Thomas got his first in his 98th. Next two games, or after? Kyle Lohse would seem to be an ideal candidate today.
  21. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ May 9, 2015 -> 12:06 PM) Cy Chen is back in the show. Indians purchased his contract and DFA'd Anthony Swarzak. Right on time to face the Sox in 10-11 days if he makes it that far.
  22. So...lose the first, win the second? Everybody in agreement? Ok then.
  23. Lineups https://twitter.com/JJStankevitz/status/597080803294597121 I think Beck is only eligible to play in the second game.
  24. http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20150509 Penny, Montas, Fry/Wheeler, Martinez
  25. By the way, they are saying he's going back to the pen after today no matter what. But don't be surprised if he starts May 22nd and 28th.
