  2. 25 is enough. And I hope the September rules become tougher. With expanded rosters, fine bring guys up...but turn in a 25-man roster each day that includes your four previous starting pitchers.
  3. Not sure where he ends up, but I think it will end up being 3 years guaranteed, with a vesting option for a 4th.
  4. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 29, 2015 -> 11:06 AM) I want some of what you're smoking. Both in how many runs we score and how many runs we allow. A 5 ERA out of Danks and Noesi is not completely unlikely. I'm expecting improvement from both Danks and Noesi. Noesi, because he'll be with Coop in spring training where they have more time to work on things. Danks, because he's another year away from surgery. He had 20 quality starts last year, which is fine from a back of the rotation starter. So if he cuts down on the terrible starts, and benefits from a better offense and bullpen, he can still be an asset. A +100 run diff is bold, but realistically 680 RS and 610 RA is more what I expect.
  5. He's on the Score in about 5 minutes. Not sure I even want to listen.
  6. Sale was #4 last year. I would hope he doesn't fall back, but I guess 5 is possible.
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) I expect this team to be more in the 6 to 8 range. Like I said, 85 wins sounds right me. With some luck, sure they could push into the 88 to 90 range. With some bad luck, they could also push under .500. I like the Sox pitching staff to be the best in the league. If they stay healthy, 90 wins. Bold prediction: Sox score more than 700 runs, and give up fewer than 600 runs. Run diff will be more than +100.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2015 -> 10:17 AM) It is not a rebuilding year, but is also not a division winning roster. That's why I said reaching a best-of-5. Sure, they may lose a close division race, but I expect the Sox to have one of the top 5 records in the league, and if they have to play one game--hopefully it's with Sale or Samardzija on the mound and they win it.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 29, 2015 -> 10:09 AM) I would be prepared to be disappointed. That's nuts. This isn't a rebuilding year. Get over it.
  10. They didn't put this team together just to compete or contend. Anything less than reaching a best-of-5 series would be disappointing.
  11. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 05:22 PM) So what does our bench currently look like? Who will be the backup catcher? Beckham (3b, SS, 2b) Bonafacio (Inf, OF) L. Garcia (INF) Catcher? Beckham IF, Bonifacio UTL, Shuck OF, Soto C In my opinion. Could change if Shuck stinks or Soto isn't healthy, but on Jan 28, I think this is it.
  12. Sierra ended up being outrighted to AAA Omaha. He's still Royals property.
  13. https://twitter.com/CSNHayes/status/560548838566801409 10 days to trade Viciedo.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 02:12 PM) Parks was great again last night. Hitch 2: Son of a Hitch Yep. Treat Yo Self 2017.
  15. Scott Fletcher is with the Tigers now. No company secrets, Gordon.
  16. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 01:52 PM) That bench is BS. Nice. Hawk would approve of that slogan.
  17. In totality, a bench of Beckham, Bonifacio, Soto, and Shuck doesn't look too bad.
  18. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 01:38 PM) Not necessarily. I still think they go with bench of: catcher, Bonifacio, Beckham, and an OF. One of Sanchez/Micah makes the roster and the other is in Charlotte. Yeah, that's true. Shuck has some speed, so he can pinch run. It just seems like they overly like Leury Garcia.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 01:31 PM) I was hoping that Bonifacio would handle all backup infielder duties. Not a good day for JB Shuck.
  20. Like that Viciedo is gone. Beckham--hopefully he's a decent platoon player. Ban "Your Love"
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) You do realize any player they would get would be totally worthless. They paid his salary, probably gave a token amount more if anything, and that will be that. Oh yeah, i know they won't get anything. I just wanted to hear it from a Merkin or a Hayes. Usually those things are officially announced in the transactions, and it's rare that nothing ever got reported involving a trade of a guy that played in the majors for six years.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 01:14 PM) Yeah, I think after the off season going rolling, it was obvious that this was what had to have happened, since we never got transaction within the 6 months time. Got until Feb 21,
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 01:10 PM) The White Sox acquired cash funds. If true, nobody reported it and it never made the MLB transaction page.
  24. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 28, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) He was asked. His reply was that he was aware Gordon was currently a free agent. He will be cheap. I like the gamble. The question was- did the Sox get compensation from the Angels from the trade last year?
