Braves took Providence Catholic RHP Jake Godfrey in 21st round. He will be attending LSU.
They may have taken the wrong Godfrey in the 21st. Took another CF Godfrey in Round 22.
This one's for Caulfield...
Simple math, really. 100 games left. 50 home. 50 road. Need 87 wins for the second wildcard--that's my assumption right now, although the Mariners and Yankees are tied, on pace for 84 wins.
Here's what the Sox have left:
16 - Twins 10-6 (10 games at Target Field)
13 - Tigers 6-7
13 - Royals 7-6 (10 games at The Cell)
9 - Indians 5-4
7 - Blue Jays 4-3
7 - Mariners 4-3
6 - Orioles 3-3
5 - Angels 3-2
4 - Red Sox 2-2
4 - A's 2-2
4 - Giants 2-2
3 - Yankees 2-1
3 - Rays 2-1
3 - Astros 2-1
3 - Rangers 2-1
56-44, to finish 87-75.
Another way to look at it--
If they can squeeze 21 more starts out of Chris Sale, and the team goes 16-5 in those starts, they have to go 40-39 whenever somebody else pitches.
The keys-
Chris Sale's starts must be "Win Day"
Beat up the Twins
Stay away from sweeps
Rienzo is clearly the 5th starter and he's going to suck probably 3 out of 10 starts. If it's going to come against Weaver, that's ok. Get 'em next time. Sale tomorrow.

Some of these averages are free falling. It's a shame Viciedo is still plagued by his streakiness. To me, it's hard to find a spot for him on next years team.
Agreed. I'm hoping for Beckham and Viciedo to play just well enough to get in the postseason, but also to be traded in November-December.
Love the first two picks, obviously. If they get a bullpen arm or two, or a bench player from 3-10, that's a bonus.
If Rodon is an All Star and a top-5 Cy guy, and Adams is in a future Sox rotation, it's a great draft.
